I can only assume they did it just to reinforce you put the car in reverse compared with drive as the joystick isn't what most people are used to compared to a normal automatic stick. The dealer can turn the beeping off for you or you can use a Scangauge II to do it. (Once the setting is changed it is saved)
Yeay! Someone discovered how to fix the only thing I dislike about the Prius. Why did they have a reverse beeper inside the car in the first place? Shouldn't it be for pedestrians outside the car?
It thinks it's a Hyster/Crown without the forks and a pallet on top.

are the changes permenant or does the scan guage have to be pugged into the car for it to work?
