I've got a gibson nighthawk custom from 1994 (not the anniversary model) And yep, very versatile guitar, much lighter than a les paul.
You can almost play any kind of music with it, blues, funk, rock, hard rock, and even heavy metal, easly.
Actually, I prefer its disto sounds, and well it's definitely a gibson, you can't realy have strats brightness. But clear sounds works well too anyway.
I've got a black Gibson Nighthawk from 1995. It's a versatile guitar that can give you some nice tones somewhat similar to both a Strat and Tele. I also have a Les Paul, so I feel like I have my bases covered with my electric guitars. I like my Martin acoustic/electric, but I want a Taylor.
this guy shouldnt be allowed to perform any demonstrations... he might be an accomplished guitarist, but someone with so little knowledge of the instrument shouldnt be teaching others and spreading his ignorance... i mean, "boost" push/pull pot?! no gain on a gibson tube amp?! performing a sound demonstration with a boss ds-1 with the gain all the way up?! this guy needs lessons.
AT first, I was wishing for some metal sound with some finger-tapping...and lo-and behold I GOT SOME!!!!! I thank you for providing a long range of sound. From blues to rock, this guitars sounds great!!
What do you mean "there's no gain in this amp"? It's a tube amp. In fact, it's a small, portable tube amp. What better to push at a higher volume? Push the tubes and let's here what this guitar REALLY sounds like with some dirt. If you're going to show people what it sounds like dirty, give us some natural, organic overdrive, your shitty pedal masks the guitar with obnoxious, nasally, grainy overdrive and makes all the settings sound the same. BTW it's a coil tap, not a 'boost'.
i wish this motherfucker knew what he was talking about. don't tell me he does because he calls the bridge pickup the bottom and the neck pickup the top one. also its a coil tap. also its flame maple
Hey David Taub, next time you do reviews of different guitars can you please not use the Line 6 amp because the tone is horrible and it does not do the guitars justice. Please use a different amp for the guitar reviews.
@George656 what would be the reason to play low price guitar on a high price amp? Or what amp do you have in mind, George? I think it's quite a smart way to show a low price combination (guitar and variable line6 amp).
@George656 what would be the reason to play low price guitar on a high price amp? Or what amp do you have in mind, George? I think it's quite a smart way to show a low price combination (guitar and variable line6 amp).
sweet guitar horrible tone.... its either the amp and the petal mixed which is probably the answer cuz older amps mix terrible or the petal was moded poorty or this guy doesnt know what a eq is on a petal and amp...
This video would have been a lot more useful if you played something besides power chords and beat the pentatonic box position to death the whole time.
i saw one of these at a pawn shop like a month ago for like 400 should have bought it i also should have bought that charvel they had for 200 man i suck
i have noticed in videos that he has slipped on a few things. for example, calling the coil tap a boost knob. i do like his attitude towards guitars, but he should look into stuff a bit more.
Great review. Just a correction: it is not a "boost" thing when pull the tone knob. It actually splits neck and/or bridge hambuckers and adds 5 more tones. Makes 10 tones !
The 2 pickups version does not have this "pull" trick: only 5 positions, but some of theses positions are splitted hambucker positions. From Stratocaster fender-like Sound when splitted to almost true-LP Tone when not !
Actually the nighthawk came out in '91 as a special with two pick ups and bound body in all the standard gibson colors, mine is vintage sunburst. They discontinued it due to lack of sells, but in '93 they made them again before the blueshawk due to popular response. They are sweet guitars, a perfect marriage between a strat and a gibson.
Just about the only good thing I've ever seen from Gibson. You should be able to get a lot of different tones with it. It's nice to see that Gibson actually had a stab at innovation, at least once in the past 3 decades.
if only gibson would give up on "innovation". chambered les pauls can die in a fire and the robot guitar redifines the word rubbish. also, what was the thinking behind pricing a 59 reissue with a flame top 2grand higher than a plain top 58 but a flamed standard is only 200 more than a plaintop classic? please, lets go back to a les paul standard, a les paul custom, and a jr, all built right.
What can you do? Gibson has to try to compete with Fender who can make cheaper guitars because they have three outlets: Squier, Fender, and American Fender.
Gibson just has Epiphone and Gibson USA. I love the unchambered Gibsons but they just don't sell as well as the lighter Fenders so Gibson is just going to keep trying to offer better gimmicks.
And if you hate the robot Les Paul, go to Gibsons web site and look at the new Dark Fire they cooked up.
Nice guitar, Sounds good, Looks different, it might look better in a different color, but I think it looks comfortable to hold and play. It reminds me of a Charvel LS6 I used to own, but that had a double cutaway body, I wish I still owned that one. "regrets". anyway, I like the Nighthawk.
i've got to be completly honest. that's one of the ugliest guitars i have ever seen, i would never fuckin belive that gibson made that....first the les paul,sg,vee, explorer and then this????
I love these guitar reviews. You guys are totally awesome! Keep it up!
