I would agree Technique is important. However, at the age of these athletes it is far more important to introduce concepts and allow their young bodies the opportunity to learn the movements. Stressing techniques as you would with an adult or young adult is not appropriate at this age. Far to often trainers try to teach kids like adults an that is not the case. Young athletes need to opportunity to discover how to move.
I think you are failing to understand that the concept here is to begin to teach the basics of movement and in the early learning stages perfection is not the goal. I do understand your point and if this were an adult you would be absolutely correct. The other factor to be consider is life, in life when you are performing a squat whether you are playing sports or moving items around the house the knee regularly travels beyond the ankle.
um...watching the boy in the middle gives me some pain...his knees are over his toes....they should either be parallel or behind his toes....great idea, though!
@LastSkyra In general with kids of this age it is more appropriate to work on teaching the basic techniques without weight. However, the sticks the boys are holding are called body bars and weight 12- 24 lbs.

Technique, Technique, Technique - and it's teachings are crucial at this age and I don't see that happening whatsoever.
