The song is about a woman (Alex) who is dealing with another woman interfering with her man (the shadow in the video). In this video, the third woman is reimagined as a poltergeist - a mischevious ghost who interferes with everything in Alex's life, including posessing her cat. Alex feels torn in two by this third party (hence her robe coming apart).

It's like the vocals of Joanna Newsom (somewhere between The Milk-Eyed Mender and Ys) but with much poppier arrangements. What's not to love?
