question?? my m 3 is lowered and i just got ucc motorworks lowr control arms to fix my camber but now when i get above 70 or 80 it feels like the rear of my car is very loose and espically when i hit bumps what would cause this?
Is it so hard for them to make it come with the housing. I hear great things about Konis but are they really worth this extra hassle? Im not even talking about their price. I have a 92' Maxima which I was hoping to install these unto, but from my guy, they are 135 a pop, and thats without the Eibach springs I want.
I dont know about this model, but racing konis are of extremely high quality and are very adjustable. also has directional valves making it possible to adjust bump and rebound. if you know what you are doing you can achieve very high levels of grip.
@MrMillTicket lazy i am, but in this situation thats not the case. i have limited tools and no garage. most of my work is done next to a side walk. the less steps, the better
The reason I ask is that I am going to be using E36 spindles on a project car, and I have Koni 8611 double adjustable race inserts. I'm trying to find out if I need to buy stock E36 M or non-M strut assemblies to put them into, if there is a difference. Thanks, and great video.
awesome video thanks a lot!! i got a question im looking and doing this to my e30 bmw will i have to drill holes and cutt below the crimps so i could add a new strut?..ima be putting tokico hp or bilstein not sure yet..thanks a hole lot
Good video.. You guys sell good products too, like the wiring harness for the Euro E36 Hella Lights.. For all guys wanting to keep the OEM ride quality, Koni is the way to go. I got the Bilstein Sports and my back hates me ever since..
can't wait to put these in my rokkor coilovers!!

is dust boot missing on the shaft?

Just an FYI...
It is not necessary to drain and drill the fluid from the OEM strut unless you absolutely suck with an angle grinder.
You can easily cut the top off and pull the old cartrige as a whole. I drilled and drained the first one, then skipped that step on the 2nd one.
Thanks for the video though, it's otherwise fantastic.

@BEATYOAZ - You have to drill a hole in the bottom for the bolt anyway, so there's no point in not draining the oil at that point.

okay so what are the part numbers for the strut insert? and can you do this on 325i struts at all?
defkon99 1 year ago
@defkon99 - Those will not fit 325i housing, they only fit E36 M3 housings. Part number for the E36 M3 fitment is 8641-1342Sport

Hm, good to know. Also I heard they are the best shocks for withstanding a lowered suspension.

you didnt use a file to file down the inside rivet?
theelite127 2 years ago
There weren't any rivets inside the housing, everything on the E36 M3 housings are welded.

Is this E36 M3 specific or will the non-M struts take these inserts as well?
Poik242 3 years ago
Non-M E36 Koni struts are complete units, it's only the M3 that requires the housing to be reused.

E30 strut housing have a threaded cap that holds the strut insert in place. No cutting is required... unless the top of the housing is rusted away.
