I really recommend you Robowiki.net, the official community portal of Robocode. The guys are really helpful and you would surely learn a lot about robocode and java. :)

Sort of changed my mind now. I opened up the robocode api and realised I have enough trouble learning the java api, so it's better for me to just stick with learning the java api for now. I'll maybe come back to robocode in the 6 weeks christmass holidays. :)
