I went to the French Quarter today and listened to the Calliope on the Natchez. It sounded awesome! ...the boat's horn is extremely loud XD but its awesome! :)
Well done vid on paddle wheeler "Natchez" with fine scenes of the mighty engine & the paddle technique. Cruised with her 21 yrs. ago at same good weather conditions & won't forget this nice lady!
There was steamboat that was called the "Natchez" that raced another steamboat called the "Robert E. Lee". The "Natchez" lost and the "Lee" was the winner.
I have been cruising on the steamboat Natchez last Easter day with hubby and we had a wonderful lunch there. I loved the calliope and looking at the paddle wheel. I adore old south!
There is something incredible about the power of steam. In these river boats and in steam locomotives they are alive with power and might. They cough and groan. They have a temper and personality all their own.
The Wisthle Sounds Very Strange

I think the Natchez would have to be my favorite steamboat that's still operating in the states; it has such a classic form and and feel to it.

If you notice the relationship between the speed of the passlewhaeel and the water, they are almost identical. That spells efficiency!!

I once travelled with The Natchez. I think New Orleans is the best city I ever visited. I really want to go back

The Calliope is the greatest though! I went and listened to the Calliope music today in the French Quarter!
