Been waiting for these to come out... An I saw someone put the 9000 series was the best tv out right now? Pretty sure the 8000 was a better tv. The 9000 was just a dressed up 7000.
So How Does Refresh Rate Apply To These T.V.'s? Like Will There Be Some That Are Still 60Hz, 120Hz, And 240Hz? Or Will That Not Be An Issue Since These T.V.'s Are Already So Good In Picture Quality? And To Get The Most Out Of Picture Quality In These T.V.'s Is It Just An HDMI Cable That We Need? Cuz These Things Look Incredibly Thin To Even Plug Anything Into Them. And How Will Blue-Ray Movies Look On These? Just A Few Questions I Have Right Now.
Knowing that the price of this thing will keep the hands of humanity away from this bad boy... I treated myself to an IPS monitor I've been wanting a long time from NEC. I hope to use this monitor for about 3-4 years and by then OLED should be a standard in all sizes and reasonably priceed :) Stop teasing yourself watching this videophiles!!
Finally no more "throw away tech" Televisions. Plasma was the only acceptable form of flat panel tech for me...until now. I have been waiting on OLED for years, finally it's happening. Also, yes, I tolerate LCD because I have to, but really, LCD is really a best suited for signage, NOT a for graphic display.
WOW!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT! Surprise for us! It's not just Oled, But they jump right out with Super OLED!!!! Shweet! So theoretically will be better then the LG. We will have to wait and see.
Let's explain the differences between the technologies. A fundimental difference between LED ( light emitting diode) and LCD ( liquid crystal display) is that LED still uses an LCD display panel but with LED back light as opposed to the LCD fluorescent. OLED ( organic light emitting diode) however uses no back light. Each pixel has its own color generator eliminating the need for a colour filter for the first time. And of course each pixel emits its own light making for an amazing contrast ratio
Aside from insane black levels, the real bonus here is the CRT-like Motion handeling. LED's and LCD's have weak motion handeling as it's inherent to the technology, where as plasma shines in the motion department. And while it's MUCH better than LCD and LED, it's not quite as good as CRT plus there's tha nasty dithering effect. Plus Super OLED's retain that amazingly bright and super crisp/clean image that LCD's/LED's boast as well. Super OLED seems like the perfect tech! XD
@gigabytegeeks hahaha mw3. you do realize it wont make much difference in quality because mw3 has crap graphics and all that stuff so basically there isnt much that would make this tv look its best not even a ps3 exclusive or anything on console could but a high end pc maybe could
I am convinced that OLED is superior to LCD, Plasma, and everything else. But why only release this bad boy in one size. It will be hard for everyone to afford 55" of OLED. I would just be happy with 23"+ Maybe next year. :)
@ibanez0830 This Tv is gonna be really expensive regardless of what size it eventually comes out with, dude, CES is practically the future in one big area lol
Sony is coming up with something similar, I forgot what it was called but it should be arriving soon same with the ps4, now those will blow your mind:]
i pretty much love samsung, never bought something i didnt like from them or didnt think it was worth the price. they have always provided on quality content!
I feel bad for those who fell into the gimmick of 3D last year... Here is a tip for those who like to upgrade their TVs to the latest greatest... Unless it improves the picture quality then don't buy it. 3D does "not" improve picture quality, 920Hz does "not" improve picture quality, Internet/facebook believe it or not does "not" improve picture quality... OLED "does" improve picture quality. Luckily for me the last tv I bought few years back and was just your basic 1080p LED LCD.
@someonefarted100 The manufacturer said it will be under US$10,000. this year. I think samsung will adjust and compare to LG's price this year. and also 40"s class will be available soon.
I plan to purchase an OLED, but not for over 5K... especially when they are still working out kinks on a product just released this year. OLED is brand new and nobody knows the real issues these will have yet. I won't be the one finding out the hard way thankfully :)
well, talking about price if lg oled display is rumored to have 8000$ price tag, this one will cost you at least 9000+ (mys guess, and yeah, over 9 thousand indeed!). Oh well, its never easy on your wallet to be an early adopter...
@munncl don't worry, i saw ign's video of the same tv but LG's version at this years CES and they said if it ever goes retail, it'll cost you $8000. yes that's three zeroes.
