  • So did you ever become an instructor at VIR?

  • @TheSwisherManCan Working on it... getting as many track days as I can under my belt as I can afford, but it's tough as I'm currently a student! I'm usually there for NASA and TrackDaze events

  • A brake pedal with a deadzone is no biggie. I consider it one of those "drive it for a bit" and then it's fine. One thought though. Why the hell is the corvette going slow? Do they have limits on that particular track day?

  • @mikeb1444 The only limits were to drive safely and within one's abilities. "Your limits may vary!!!"

  • @chriswerneresq

Well, I guess whoever is in the corvette likes to be liberal in being conservative!

  • @mikeb1444 Ive driven turbo and I have the regular version- didnt experience soft pedal in either case. Im not sure what problem he is talkign about unless the GS has a totally different level of brake feel.

  • so the car sucks because its not purpose built for the track? As if any of its competitors are. When you're on a track with vettes and other sports cars I'm sure the GS seems a little underpowered. It was probably the cheapest, largest and heaviest car there. Its not a sports car, its a sports SEDAN.

  • @MrYakov79 My feelings on this car have nothing to do with its level of power... it's the whole package of how it performs and rewards the driver with the experience. I'm sorry, but you'll just have to drive one yourself to understand what I mean about the brake feel... were it not for this one aspect I would never had made the "this sucks" comment, it just really does not inspire confidence in the driver when the (otherwise fade-free and strong) brakes require such a long pedal throw.

  • @chriswerneresq Reviews are out in numerous sources. Not one complaint about the brake feel. C&D ranked it over the S60. Again, I think its all about expectations and it seems like yours were way too unrealistic. Brake performance and feel have generally been praised. Moreso than the engine or steering.

  • other reviews praised the braking of this car. Even the normal turbo has solid brakes.

  • I appreciate the feedback. I'm actually very interested in this GS. I would actually love to get a Cadillac CTS-V, and I've heard nothing but great things about the CTS-V's performance, but it exceeds my budget. I think these new Regals are beautiful, and are more in my price range too. I'm definitely planning on test driving one when they hit the showrooms next month. What track is this?

  • @Lowell4 This is Monticello Motor Club in New York. Take the Regal for a test drive, see what you think... it is a nice car on the street, shifter is a little notchy if you're thinking of the manual, haven't driven the automatic (not sure it is available yet). Definitely a great-looking car too!

  • Doesn't this car have Brembo brakes?

  • @Lowell4 Yes, and I'm sure they're quite consistent... it's the feel of the pedal that's bad. Goes halfway to the floor before it starts doing anything. There's nothing the Brembo calipers can do about that... needs different tuning to the brake master cylinder. I'm sure it's something that you could get used to, I wouldn't let that dissuade

you from considering this car or anything.

  • At the end you say, "This car sucks." Are you talking about the Regal you are driving or about the slow Corvette in front of you?

  • @Lowell4 The Regal... nice car on the street, needs better brake feel and some more power for track duty.
