It makes people think of full-term infants when the reality is that these procedures are done in the second trimester and in the case of threat to the mother's life. Some people think the method, properly called dilation and extraction, is cruel. It sonds gruesome, but a second tri fetus is too big to be removed by suction.

Women are different and react to pregnancy and abortion in different ways. Many women might regret their decision, but many women do not. If there are pro-life organizations that offer support and counseling (and not shame) for those who feel regret, then that is a good thing.

They chose to keep their baby because they didn't realize how many options/resources were available. Do you really think a group like planned parenthood is going to show them all their options when they're making billions of dollars off abortions? It's just a business.. interested in money.

They clearly state that they provide these services. There are also services for men and LGBTQ people. If they weren't providing these services, they could be sued for false advertising. Some religious pregnancy help centers threw a fit because a law passed that forced them to put up signs that said they don't make referrals for birth control or abortion. Women get abortions because they need them, not because they like the experience. Some women have medical problems, others have financial issues. A tadpole can live independently from a frog. A human fetus develops inside of a woman. The burden falls on the woman and if she can't handle or does not want that burden, she has every right to remove it. An embryo is not a human: it is a potential human. Many of them get flushed out of the body naturally before or after implantation without the woman knowing and no human is mourned.
If a woman doesnt want the burden of parenthood, she should not have sex, since it is a guarantee of 100% pregnancy protection. You shouldn't kill something unless you are sure it's ok to kill it. This is akin to fumigating a building without making sure no one is inside. As the website says the brains starts to develop by the time the "baby" is 3 weeks old. So the possibility exists according to your logic that a human being could be killed in somewhere in there.
The only safe way to defend peoples rights is to say that it's wrong to kill any distinct human being.
A women is free to do what she wants as long as it doesn't deny someone else their rights. If the baby is distinct human being than it has the right to life. The right to life would trump the womens rights because losing the right to life would deny the baby all it's rights including the rights that the women is claiming. The baby would no longer be free to do what he or she wanted with his or her body or anything else. Whereas women still retains her right to life after giving birth.
The fetus is not a distinct human being with rights. The woman's rights trump the fetus's because it is her body and forcing her into pregnancy makes her little more than an incubator. Fetuses are also incapable of wanting to live or even knowing anything about abortion. They don't care: they are incapable of caring. The woman, however, has full rights.
Lets look at this scientifically. Being is defined as existing or living. So if the unborn baby is alive than it's a being. Scientifically speaking a cell is defined as being alive. From the moment of conception the unborn baby is composed of cells. So it's a being.
The question then becomes what kind of being is it. Well a simple thing to consider is the kind of DNA it has in this case the baby has human DNA that is different than the mother and the father. So you have a distinct human being.
It's not treated like it has rights, though, so apparently not everyone considers it a human being. Babies are granted person status after birth. Either way, it's still stupid to take away a woman's bodily autonomy for something that won't survive if removed from her body.
Is gravity less real because there are people who refuse to acknowledge it? Was Galileo incorrect for saying that the earth revolved around the sun because people wanted to believe that the sun revolved around the earth? Scientifically speaking the unborn baby is a human being. It's irrelevant whether lawmakers agree or disagree with it.
Are you saying that her right to bodily autonomy overshadows the babies right to life just because the baby can't live without her? Why?
Yes, a woman's right to her body trumps any rights the fetus has. This is because her body is her body. Nobody has the right to use your body without your consent, even if they will die. Likewise, a fetus has no right to use a woman's body unless the woman wants to continue her pregnancy.

It makes people think of full-term infants when the reality is that these procedures are done in the second trimester and in the case of threat to the mother's life. Some people think the method, properly called dilation and extraction, is cruel. It sonds gruesome, but a second tri fetus is too big to be removed by suction.

@kenwen4 Actually, partial-birth abortion is an accurate term. The child (or fetus, if you must) is pulled out feet-first, leaving just the head inside the birth canal. The child is partially born. Hence, partial-birth abortion. But you didn't answer why it's not cruel. Inserting scissors into the back of the neck, opening up a hole, and sucking the brain out sounds pretty cruel to me. Secondly, correct me if I'm wrong but if the child (aka the fetus) is a threat to the mother's life...

If the child (fetus) is old enough to require partial-birth abortions to save the mother's life, then the child (fetus) can be delivered via C-section without requiring an abortion at all. They chose to keep their baby because they didn't realize how many options/resources were available. Do you really think a group like planned parenthood is going to show them all their options when they're making billions of dollars off abortions? It's just a business.. interested in money.

@courtbian89 Planned Parenthood's website has clearly labeled sections on prenatal care, adoption, and parenting as well as birth control and pregnancy health. They clearly state that they provide these services. There are also services for men and LGBTQ people. If they weren't providing these services, they could be sued for false advertising. And yes, it's a business. They have to pay their staff.

Workers from pp have said they purposely turn sonogram screens away from the client, if they ask the sex they lie and say "It's too early to tell" and they even told my sister her baby had downs syndrome (she kept her baby and she's fine, her name is Giuliana)

Some religious pregnancy help centers threw a fit because a law passed that forced them to put up signs that said they don't make referrals for birth control or abortion. Meaning women had gone to them for information and felt lied to. I've never been pregnant, so I've never looked into centers like this, so I'm sure there are legitimate ones, but they can't all be.

Not sure that I agree that these are 'lies'. For instance, I'm sure that *some* women who have abortions are too lazy to use birth control, even if not *all* of them are. Plus, I'm sure that a lot of women are haunted by their desicion later in life. The operation in itself must be a huge thing to have to go through.
Plus, some abortions go wrong. There are stories (that I can't prove OR disprove, so please don't ask me to) of babies/feutuses/whatever the hell you feel like calling them being

Wow! Although I don't support abortions, some of these facts are really extreme. I don't even agree with most things stated in this video. For instance: "Women who abort go to hell." Who has any right to say who is or who isn't going to hell?! It's not like people are waiting at the gates of hell to throw whomever they want to throw in there. Most if these "lies" have actually been proven true. 65% of women who have abortions regret it. Planned Parenthood HAS lied before. They tries to cover stadutory rape cases so a teenager could have an abortion.
Also, most of these are insults that some people have used. I do not condone this.

Planned Parenthood is not racist. Minority groups are statistically more likely to be poor and poor people tend to need more abortions as they are less educated about contraception.
People have sex. It's just something that people do. Telling women not to have sex won't end abortion. What needs to happen is comprehensive sex education, but even then, there will still be unwanted pregnancies. They happen and there's nothing that anyone can do about it.

Abortion is something that can't be solved. Unplanned pregnancies happen. Comprehensive sex education will help reduce the number of abortions, but unless a hundred percent effective birth control is invented and easily obtained by all women, unplanned pregnancies and abortions will occur.

Again how is it unplanned? Have you ever taken biology? Sex is the protocol for reproduction. The semen from the mans penis is not there from decoration, it has a purpose. Again you contradict yourself when you say that birth control fails If you read the instructions from BC pills, it will tell you that it has a failure rate. Therefore, unless you abstain from sex, by having sex in the first place, you are following through the process of reproduction making possible pregnancy intentional.

If I have sex using birth control, my goal is not to get pregnant, but to have sex. Therefore, any pregnancy that occurs is unplanned and an accident. Even if birth control has a failure rate, pregnancy is not my intent. Most of the time, people have sex for recreation and not for reproductive purposes.

Even if you did wear traction shoes, there is a possibility you could still fall because traction shoes are not 100% guaranteed. Therefore again, if you have sex with birth control and layers of condoms and something fails, it is not an accident because the process of reproduction has taken place.

Only 3% of Planned Parenthood's services are abortions. Most of their services include medical care and birth control at reduced prices for poor women who need it. They also provide counseling for women who choose to raise babies or adopt. That helps women more than standing outside clinics and screaming 'WHORE' at them like a lot of people in your camp.

What will actually reduce the number of abortions is education about sex, contraception, and pregnancy. If you want to stop abortion, stop them before they're needed.

If you look at abortions statistically, under 5% of abortions happen becuase of rape and incest, health of the mother, etc. The other 95% is because of inconvenience. Contraception is not 100% effective, and you even said yourself that sex education is not 100% effective. The only sure fire way to prevent pregnancy is to abstain form sex. A child should not have to suffer becuase the adults consenting in sex feel like they made a mistake.

A child is not suffering in an abortion. At the stage when most abortions occur (before ten weeks), the "child" is a glob of cells called an embryo. It can't feel, it can't think, and it doesn't give a crap what happens to it. The feelings and needs of the woman, on the other hand, are very real and should not be discarded. I've heard many lifers dismiss the argument of inconvenience. Well, if having a child is inconvenient, why should someone have a child?

A tadpole can live independently from a frog. A human fetus develops inside of a woman. The burden falls on the woman and if she can't handle or does not want that burden, she has every right to remove it. An embryo is not a human: it is a potential human. Many of them get flushed out of the body naturally before or after implantation without the woman knowing and no human is mourned.

If a woman doesnt want the burden of parenthood, she should not have sex, since it is a guarantee of 100% pregnancy protection. Even though the fetus grow inside of the mother, it is a completely different person from the mother. Different personality, different blood type and different DNA. BTW I do agree that embryos do not implant for whatever reason. This is called a miscarriage, just as natural death happens to a viable human being, way different than surgical or medical abortion.

Another 2-3% are late miscarriages or stillbirths and those are the numbers for industrialised countries with public, state of the art healthcare
So I'd say with less than 40% of probability to develop into a baby, it's well justified to speak of potential. I wished pro-lifers knew what they're talking about

Correct, it is not most. That said, they are then nation's largest abortion provider doing 290,000 abortions a year.
Additionally, they bring in about 35% of their service revenue from abortion. While 35% is not "most", it it still probably their largest single revenue source.

Bills to protect fetal rights are piggybacked with proposals to restrict abortion (like parental notification or pushing the term limit down). THAT is why they get voted down.

3.5% of abortions occur at 16-20 weeks. If the fetus is truly sentient at this stage (which I doubt) then very few pregnancies are terminated then. Almost ninety percent of abortions happen in the first trimester, which is why people sometimes call it a blob of cells.

You shouldn't kill something unless you are sure it's ok to kill it. This is akin to fumigating a building without making sure no one is inside. As the website says the brains starts to develop by the time the "baby" is 3 weeks old. So the possibility exists according to your logic that a human being could be killed in somewhere in there.
The only safe way to defend peoples rights is to say that it's wrong to kill any distinct human being.

A women is free to do what she wants as long as it doesn't deny someone else their rights. If the baby is distinct human being than it has the right to life. The right to life would trump the womens rights because losing the right to life would deny the baby all it's rights including the rights that the women is claiming. The baby would no longer be free to do what he or she wanted with his or her body or anything else. Whereas women still retains her right to life after giving birth.

The fetus is not a distinct human being with rights. The woman's rights trump the fetus's because it is her body and forcing her into pregnancy makes her little more than an incubator. Fetuses are also incapable of wanting to live or even knowing anything about abortion. They don't care: they are incapable of caring. The woman, however, has full rights.

Lets look at this scientifically. Being is defined as existing or living. So if the unborn baby is alive than it's a being. Scientifically speaking a cell is defined as being alive. From the moment of conception the unborn baby is composed of cells. So it's a being.
The question then becomes what kind of being is it. Well a simple thing to consider is the kind of DNA it has in this case the baby has human DNA that is different than the mother and the father. So you have a distinct human being.
