  • Ah the most ridiculous heroic effort Julie

  • Ah, the M-72 Law. Saved my ass many times in Call of Duty.

Nice seeing it kick lizard ass too

  • Still gives me chills all these years later just seeing Juliet standing there firing at Diana's ship. Very iconic.

  • @noellemt100 You better believe it!! Thats what the original series was all about. what would happen if our couuvenrmanet suddenly became a fascist state? Would you be a collaborater or a freedom fighter? there is a great comparison betweenthis and the Nazis. Why do you think the Visoter's sign looked alot like the Swatzika?

  • @noellemt100 You better believe it!! thats what the original mini series was all about. What would you do if our government became a fascist state? Would you be a freedom fighter or a collaborater? Would you sacrifice your life or just mind your own business?

  • @Bladestar7 You mean like about right now?

  • @MadeByEduNotLaziness Well take a time to think about it, but I wouldnt wait too long. Diana is coming in for another pass!! :-)

  • When I saw this as a 10 yr old, the scene where Diana's fake humanoid mask is partially ripped off gave me the creeps. Special effects were good for the time and the story was fantastic!

  • Black spray paint smoke from the fighter craft!!!

  • V ruled, hard.

  • This is the scene I helplessly fell in love with Juliet Parrish!

It shows, really for the first time, the reckless compassion of the character as she sets herself up for visitor target practice, armed only with a water pistol (effectively), on behalf of two struggling people she's never even met.

    Mega-heroineism!

  • Julie +dainna would be hawt

  • 2:55 Jesus that's powerful stuff.

Great way to bookend the initial series.

  • There was something about Diana wasnt there!

  • FANTASTIC

  • Question: After watching the final show-down between Julie and Diana along with Joe Harnell fantastic music;; Do you think the V remake will ever be able to show such an impactful and climatic scene? Still breathtaking and illustrates everything what the new V hasn't got...

  • very hard to believe he could pilot and navigate etc'

  • Comment removed

  • I was 13 when this came out - I laughed,I cried,I wacked off to Julie and Diana

  • badass

  • Bit too much info, pal.

  • Okay I was like 11 and did the same thing except for the whacking off thing.......Dude you shouldve kept that too yourself.

  • I KNOW it dont have nothing do with "V" but can anyone tell me how would someone come up with the nickname DIMS??????? .....DIMS....

  • That's when the blond n the brunnete yellout for enmity! Ha ha not all blonds are dum : -P

  • Spielberg used this scene at the end of Saving Private Ryan. Remember Tom Hanks shooting that .45 at the panzer?

  • Before Spielberg and before V, George C. Scott did exactly what Julie just did and what the guerilla did at the beginning of the show in the movie "Patton" (1970). Only difference in each occasion was the type of aircraft shooting at the hero on the ground.

  • In what chapter in youtube does Diana die/flee?

  • Some will be for food. Others will be used as soldiers to fight against the enemy that always defeats them.

  • you know I just realize. if the visotors had superior tevhnology they couldve found there moutnain base by satelite from their mother ship.

  • Maybe the reptilian lack of common sense is their greatest weakness... no wonder they have another enemy that can always beat them...

  • @Bladestar7

Lol - and a visitor scud missile would have worked just as well, but where's the TV in that?

  • Very brave Julie . but not smart. She was such a damn sitting duck just standing there....good music though,...

  • Well, they were going for sybolism there.

  • @Farsadelcatolicismo

But that's just it. She had to help the kid, no matter what the odds.

.. and then she had no choice but to use her pop gun against the visitor craft, because not to do so would have even less effect.

Heroic stuff - this scene is one of the greatest scenes ever made directly for a TV screen.

  • This series still rocks.

  • As a critic of special effects in movies I must say they are not bad when you consider this is just a TV series and it went out 25 years ago.

  • I know so why all the bashing?

  • i hate this pussy fight. so predictable. god danm humans always win.

  • would you like the asshole enemies to win?? that wouldnt give you a really good feeling would it

  • So they have 3 ships left and one of the enemy appears, so they run away? This show could have at least only left Diana's craft as the last ship, to make it more believable. I like this miniseries but there are times when it has been lazy.

  • oooooooooh that's shady.................LOL

  • Listen to the music score. Especially when Julie and Diana go head to head... That music along with a powerful scene in itself is enough to curl your hair! Composer Joe Harnell: RIP

  • These arial/ land head to head scenes always remind me of Patton.

  • Julie earns her spurs

  • when julie shoots at diana's fighter she should have yelled wolverines! ha ha

  • I love the part where Julie faces down Diana's craft and starts shooting . The scene of the rebel leader faceing down the helicopter in the second part was totally a set up for this scene . It was obviously ment to show the point were Julie changed from being the scared " kid " who cried to Ruby that she was a scientist not a rebel leader into a true rebel leader.

  • YEah it was to show her transformation from medic to hero!

  • This is probably how those Arabs feel.

  • oh my god, marc's eyes are so fukin hot.....and those damn laser shots...they sure do sound like a mountain lion roaring eh?...

  • The scene with Julie facing down the space fighter seems to have been inspired by the iconic crop duster sequence from Hitchcock's North By Northwest.

  • Maybe so, but ts also almost exactly the same as the scene in chapter 1 or 2 when the helicopter is attacking the rebel camp Donovan is filming

  • That's a good point, and further moves me to realise that Kenneth Johnson was well influenced by Hitchcock besides Franco Zeffirelli.

Quite a stretch maybe -- but try playing the title theme of North By Northwest for a comparison with the main theme of the V Original Miniseries. As John Frankenheimer (The Manchurian Candidate) once said: "Any American filmmaker who isn't influenced by Hitchcock, is out of his mind."

  • If this was redone for today as a miniseries, it would be freaking sweet. But NBC is to busy with the Knight Rider and Kath and Kim to give something good a chance. When will theses people learn o stop making crap.

  • This is so basic. Look at the orange & white striped lorry. Notice that the back lid doesn't open fully when the rebbels clamber out after they've carried out their arms raid down town. (When they raided the munitions store earlier, the lorry lid did open fully) But that said, the other rather sureal scene when Julie, seeing the boy in distress, comes over to his aid and bravely stands up and trains her gun at the approaching fighter flown by Diana. That was quite well done and emotive.

  • ah the ole wounded aircraft flying behind something to crash and explode trick

  • As much as I love this show, (I grew up with it) there are thousands of fighters on the mothership... They only sent 5 and never asked for reinforcements? This is the heart of resistance and they retreat after losing a couple fighters? Still good though.

  • well, if they brought reinforcements then the movie would be over here and all humans would be dead already...

  • Well you can't fight a war looking like *that*. She had to rush back and fix her "makeup". :D

  • gotta look good at all times just in case some one takes a picture of you

  • classic!! yeah she looked good after her touch up XD good stuff

  • Jesus, I miss the 80ies!

  • jump in a time machine and give them a visit!

  • yes this scene is powerful, all the more effective for shooting a segment of it in slow motion and ahving that ethereal chanting dubbed over, great stuff. And the one and only time in V that we scene Diana's reptilian features...slightly..he he

  • You're right it is a very powerful scene. You feel the emotion and the symbolism as Julie finally takes courage and "does something."

  • It is so great when Julie stands up and starts to shoot at the ship knowing that they kill her. But she is willing to take the risk.

  • Doesn't it parallel the opening scene from the first chapter?

  • Ch.55 at 3:10 parallels the scene from Ch.2 at 1:51

  • it's so funny how in 80's movies, when someone shoots a gun they never aim, they just hold it at their waist and spray back and forth. lol.

  • This kicks alien reptilian ass! See ya later, Diana!

  • Gawd, that scene is so powerful. Having the miniseries bookended with the leader of the freedom fighters at the beginning doing the same thing against the helicopter was really quite powerful.

  • ..and even as a lizard, Diana was hot. :P

  • HOW did Donovan know where they were?

  • Easy... Robin was smuggled out of LA with her family earlier in this episode. They were headed for the mountain camp. Thus, it is reasonable to assume she told Donovan where they were.

  • Julie's showdown was totally inspired by Patton, who supposedly did the same in WWII against a German fighter (both from the movie and real life accounts.)

  • Indeed, I can hear it now:

"How the devil dya manage to stage that?"

Julie: "I don't know, but if I can find the extra-terrestrial son of a bitches who were flying those things, I'd give 'em each a medal."

  • i wanna see more gizzards of the lizards

  • When Julie's shooting at Diana's craft with a gun, that reminds me of the heroic ending to SAVING PRIVATE RYAN (Tom Hanks vs. the German tank).

  • This scene remamber a lot Tim Burton's first batman film, when The Joker point his gun to batplane, and the batmaplane shots get direct on right and left side the Joker position, but not shot hin. Burton copied it from V series :-)

  • > Lemme get this straight; some soccer mom is just

    > gonna pick up a shoulder launched rocket and

    > instantly know how to operate it and shoot down a

    > flying target?

The Afghans started doing it in 1979 and became a key factor in bringing down the USSR.

  • Exactly how do you think resistance fighters get started. It starts with ordinary people doing extraordinary things for freedom. thats why the mini-series was dedicated to Freedom fighters everywhere.

  • Freedom fighters past, present & future. Think he knew something was coming?

  • Good to see the black man driving the ship while the white woman gives out the orders. Them visitors are ok

  • Driving Miss Diana

  • @Stigmatainmypants hahahhaha thats bad , man

  • Love the scene where Julie sees all the suffering and finds courage withing herself to attack. After this she knew she could led them.

  • If you're serious about wanting "V" to return, google writer/director Kenneth Johnson's website & pre-order the novel for "V - The Second Generation" - if there is enough interest in the novel it will give the potential financial backers enough faith in the project to have it produced for television!!!

  • fuck them visitors up!! yeah!!!

  • Lol but who cares is a sci-fi series anyway people need to know how to operate those things even when humanity is being conquered. Diana looks so hot with that red suit, ohh i like her badly

  • ohh by the way this scene remembers me that one at the beginning of Private Ryan´s remember Tom Hanks in Normandy???? and El Alamo???

  • Lemme get this straight; some soccer mom is just gonna pick up a shoulder launched rocket and instantly know how to operate it and shoot down a flying target?

  • Get 'er Singer. You da man!
