  • I am conflicted with eating animals as well due to what I have learned from evolution. I still eat animals, and still fund the industry even though I am aware of how it works. I know there must be a better way, but I pay for this way. I am too morally weak to rebel without being a hipocrite. I don't kill insects thought! lol I will actually carry them outside now, well, I will feed some to my spider but ... :/ anyway. I wanted to say you have amazing morals, good for you, we need people like you

  • nice vid. I am a meat eater (in moderation) but I certainly respect that at least you approach the subject with a sense of reason. You should have highlighted the immorality of the god of the old testament - genocide, infanticide, blood thirsty, bully. I loved your points regardless.

  • I agree with many aspects that you mention in this video - especially about being vegetarian.

  • This video is awesome beyond words. Thank you!

  • Good vid, I enjoyed it!

  • Regarding animal morals, I see no reason to conclude that animals don't have morals.

It is clear that animals don't share the same morals as humans, but if we deal with morals with a simple good-vs-evil perspective and qualify that as being in harmony or conflict with our needs and/or values, then why not?

  • I agree that they can have morals, but for me, it really comes down to how we want to define the word. That's why I say "moral-like" behavior. It mutes definitional aspects of the controversy.

  • ok.

Not to pick at the detail ... actually that exactly what i'll do ;-)

To be completely honest, I don't expect humanity to progress without striving toward complete understanding of their environment.

Please ... please ... please ... qualify your descriptions (when appropriate) so that they are not misunderstood! Too many will assume a position that is congruent with their own ... just look at how those who claim to follow Jesus pervert the example of his life :-(

    Thanks :-)

  • Exodus 22:18

  • Again with the context. Kill as in murder. It's different.

  • wait my bad. I thought you were referring to the kill commandment. I just read the verse. There was a reason why they didn't allow sorceresses to live back then. They were different and actually real and did very different things compared to our "wicken" followers today.

  • The witch burning isn't truly biblical. You could say those who burned others at the stake for that were didn't really conceptualize the bible in it's context and just reacted. What's another example of morals evolving? If anything our morals our getting worse in society. Sex is more rampant and uncontrolled, violence on television, it's evolving the wrong way. Morals have always been the same, it's always wrong to murder. (not kill, murder)

  • I'm working on a larger video about morality that should address your question.

  • Why Isn't that lovely lamp in your video?I miss it dearly:(

  • I would like to ask to that fellow:

    Do lions kill another lions?

    Do lions kill lion cubs?

Now the question he presented: Are thore moral?

If the first two answers are "yes", and the last is "no"... what conclusion do we get?

  • I don't believe in morals. I call them social instincts. And instinct aren't perfect, especially in humans.

You should stop being a vegetarian, it's not healthy, not enough protein and fat. Some animals are really small and are hardly animals at all in a moral sense, but still are nutritious. Bugs, zooplankton and so on. And dead biproducts of them, milk, eggs, caviare, dead skin or whatever.

  • Great video. The mental construct that we label "morality" is simply part of an evolutionary survival mechanism that helps to ensure the propagation of species within social animals like the higher primates to which we belong. It is not fixed and absolute.. and certainly not divine in nature..

  • Brilliant response!

  • Nice response!

By the bye, how are you liking your new home-town?

  • It's a different place here from where I was, but so far so good. Thanks for asking.

  • Sooooooooooo good.

  • Nice response. Just wondering, where do you stand on the use of animals in biomedical research (assuming the usual ethical guidelines governing animal research are observed)?

  • Even though this was n't directed towards me, I would like to comment that I feel that is is a necessary evil. Considering a good 90% of our present medical knowledge comes from biomedical research, I feel that it does far more good then harm. Considering that biomedical research has also helped veterinary just as much, I think it's win-win for everyone. Also, I would n't be alive today if it did n't exist. Also, amazing video as usual. Keep up the good work!!!

  • I'm pretty mainstream on my opinions. Use of animals in research has a lot of oversight in the US and W Europe and elsewhere, but not everywhere; there are substantial hurdles to be passed over to even be able to conduct research in government and university labs-- so that I am not particularly concerned about.
