All- I have heard rumors of Armstrong doping for years. Even the great Greg Lemond alluded to it at some point. Has there ever been conclusive evidence on this? If so, can someone point me to the article(s) or or news story(ies). I don't like false accusations, specially against a great athlete, but if true, then I would be supremely dissapointed in this great athlete. Even if he doped, how much more did it help him? Can anyone make sense of all this crap?

Studies do show, however, that a "smaller gear / high cadence" approach is more efficient since it demands less on the legs and more on the cardiovascular system, which does not fatigue like a leg muscle does.

Different for everyone. Usually about 90 RPM's in long TT's of 20minute-1 hour for most people and 95-105 at VO2 max over a 5-6 minute effort.

When someone is, "jacked," with a high heamatocrit from blood manipulation, its easier to keep cadence up over a sustained period. A clean rider will usually drop gears and drop cadence towards the end of a sustained hard effort. It doesnt mean their cadence is lower, just that they drop it after some period.

Watch 1980's racing before EPO.
