  • ...how the FUCK does this have close to 80,000 views???

  • The start up is longer than Kim Karsashian's marriage.

    OH MY.

  • @HeavyWeaponsGuy1001 This comment is a lot of win.

  • @TheGeek1028 I know It is not that quite original, but I JUST HAD TO.

  • @HeavyWeaponsGuy1001 ...what's sad is that it's true xD

  • Listen to that baby purrrrr :P. So good to hear the Windows 95 boot sound again.

  • I need that drivers

  • ha, ive got this now wondering what processor is in the one i got...free of course lol

  • I had a black IBM Aptiva back in 97and let me tell you, it was THE LAST and ONLY TIME I ever bought a name tag PC.

  • my comment is the new like button

  • I remember once having a black IBM Aptiva that came with a huge black bulky monitor with built in Bose speakers.........................I thought this comupter would be a top of the line model. The computer was hyped up on such a slow, lame Pentium MMX processor. It's just too bad that IBM ended their support for such a bulky unit that I paid $2500.00 dollars for at the time. That computer always crashed and neither IBM or Microsoft were helpful. It turned out to be a huge paperweight.

  • @Xclibur2001 I got this thing for free from a neighbor. The AMD K6 wasn't nearly as slow as 166 MHz sounds. Actually ran Windows 2000 fairly well and handled modern sites of the time okay.

  • I had this computer once.

  • omg the windows sound <3 haha

  • Price of this unit in 1997; 2.500 USD?

  • The start sound reminds me when I was a child :)

  • Holy balls, 70,632.

  • This video makes me miss my windows 98 Packard bell it Blew up :'(

  • nice!

  • My grandpa has an IBM Aptiva 2168-N71 with Windows 95 (Old version), 16MB RAM, Intel Pentium Processor, CD-ROM (slow - either 1x or 2x speed), 3.5" Floppy Drive, IBM 2GB PATA/IDE Drive, 56K Modem, Sony Trinitron Multiscan 15f 15" CRT Screen, odd speakers, Logitech PS/2 Mouse, IBM Keyboard, and an IBM PSU. The computer hasn't been cleaned out in a long time (Hard Drive has 1% free disk space, no defragmenting yet, no ScanDisk check yet)

  • 66,612. Damn o.o

  • I had ones the same one.

  • uhm.....boring ^^

  • @samysaar Then don't watch :P

  • Did you get a free Mechwarrior 2 CD bundled with this PC?

  • @omglollmao123 I didn't buy this PC, I don't know. xD

  • 64, 142. Holy fucking tit nipples.

  • I had no clue that this video would get so much attention o.o

62,245 views, as of commenting. Wow.

  • @TheToploaderwasher Here's a mindfucker for you:

2nd generation iPod. 10 GB, original battery, hard drive, case, everything.

Nothing broken, battery lasts 4 (!) hours.

  • @TheGeek1028 ??????????????

  • @TheToploaderwasher ...that thing was made in 2002 and iPod's are notable for three things: battery, case, and hard drive failures.

  • @TheGeek1028 No I was talking about the video. Not ipod.

  • @TheToploaderwasher ...never mind, then xD

  • This is the computer you still use? 98SE is WAY better than 95!!!!!!

  • @samtheguy555 If you'll read the info on my channel and the comments, I don't even have this computer anymore.

Even then, I have a computer next to it, and, at that time, an HP laptop as my primary.

  • @TheGeek1028 you get rid of it ? :(

  • @Dariusjat Sadly, yes D:

  • @TheGeek1028 pity, this is a pretty old good machine

  • I think some Mechwarrior 2, or Command & Conquer is in line for this puppy.

  • @mbe102 Provided the thing was still intact... or in existence :P

It went to computer heaven :c

  • @spore2299

More memory would be a good suggestion.

However, it's possible the BIOS might not be able to recognize that much memory (512 MB was a lot and 1 GB was unheard of for PCs in 1997).

But, if it could boot with 512 MB RAM, you'll wonder why Windows95 won't run properly.

You'd have to modify the "vcache" parameter in the system.ini file to fix it.

  • @Watcher3223 I think the maximum possible for that board was 512 MB, theoretically.

it only had 2 memory slots and SD-RAM modules of 512 would likely not work with this machine.

It doesn't matter, anyway, because the motherboard, unfortunately, has already been discarded.

  • @TheGeek1028

It figures that the machine would be disposed of. What good is it today except to build a basic DOS machine for old school DOS games?

  • @Watcher3223 This machine could actually run 2000 and XP (2000 with no problem, XP was kind of slow).

I put a 10/100 Ethernet card in it when it did run and could browse most text-reliant web pages fine.

  • @TheGeek1028

I'm guessing because 2000 may be leaner than XP, having fewer lines of code, despite both being based off NT.

  • @Watcher3223 I think so.

XP is a much more featured operating system than 2000 was, despite being based off of each other.

  • @TheGeek1028

Not to mention being more useful as many programs that can run on XP won't run on 2000.

  • @Watcher3223 Because Windows XP came out shortly after 2000 did, many programs were made specifically for XP rather than 2000, because immediately after XP came out, the market share had shifted mostly from 95/98 to XP.

Actually, I shouldn't say immediately after, because the original release had major flaws that weren't corrected until Service Pack 1 (or 2, even)

  • @TheGeek1028

That, and 2000 wasn't really intended for home use whereas XP was, especially the home version.

And, the shift from 9x to NT, IMO, couldn't have come at a better time as 9x just couldn't keep up with the advances in hardware AFAIK, especially with 64-bit on the horizon.

Of course, this was in retrospect; many, me included, had reservations with the change.

  • @Watcher3223 Many machines shortly before XP's release (because many low/mid-end machines ran 98 new until XP came out, or Me, in rare cases) had trouble with 98 because the hardware was actually too new for the OS to take full advantage of it.

  • @TheGeek1028

Yeah. One area in particular would be USB support. I recall that OEM installations of 95 included USB support, but its implementation was far from perfect and this would continue with 98 and 98SE.

Of course, there are other areas that I may not be aware of because it's been a while for sure.

And, of course, there's that 98 demo video with Bill Gates. BSoD!

  • @Watcher3223 Wasn't he using a Toshiba? :P

  • @spore2299 ...wtf, are you high or something? This barely supported 320 MB as it was.

I mean, the 166 MHz K6 was a defecit as it was, more RAM wouldn't do anything.

  • @TheGeek1028 You know how kids are these days, spore2299 probably was born when XP came out. lol.

  • @DukeNukem2020 Probably.

    The kid's a noob.

I stated in my fucking title that it was made in 1997 and he STILL posts, in 2 comments, "how old is it?"

  • @TheGeek1028 It's older than Spore2299 is, that's for sure.

  • I've got a IBM Aptiva E16, it's supercharged - It's got a 1st MainBoard in it that gives it a AMD Duron processor and 128mb RAM, plus i installed a 6GB Hard drive. I reinstalled Windows 95 on it a bit ago. It's up on display with my IBM PS/2 p70 and IBM PS/2 l40SX.

  • I can't believe that it had power management, hence why it does not say "It's safe to turn off your computer". I wonder what the last OS was to say that? Windows 2000?

  • @talldude123 Oh, trust me, it wasn't. I saw that screen on both Windows XP and FLP on an old Pentium MMX 300 machine I used to have.

  • sounds like a deathstar or a fireball lulz just like my gateway , sorry it died lol

  • @bobyo134 It was a Seagate Medalist 321122A. 2.1 GB.

  • In those days, Aptiva was the Rolls Royce among PC's !!

  • @TheGeek1028 If your windows 95 PC Died then i could probably help you fix it

people all over my neighborhood are constantly asking me to fix thier pcs as old a win 95! im like "god, UPGRADE ALREADY" oh, well I get paid $20 a pop to fix their computers. usually its just windows that breaks down, and every now and then thier 1GB hdd dies, lol

  • lol hard drive noises! i hated thou noise wile sleeping!

  • god damn they where slow and noisy...

  • @KaxiLaxi you should see my Windows 3.1. lol

  • By far, this is my most favorite system next to windows 98 at best!!!!!!

  • is this ur only pc that boots windows 95 or do u have more pcs that boot windows 95

  • @zeldaplace This WAS my only PC that booted Windows 95, but it died not long after making this video.

  • @TheGeek1028 ): did it get the blue screen of death, and what'd u do with it after it died, did u throw it in the garbage

  • @TheGeek1028 can i have it? i don't care if it died

  • :-D

  • lol i had a aptiva for free it broke now i got a free p3 netvista 6579 xD

  • ur poor

  • @MyThePooP I got this computer for free. I have multiple computers that are way better than this.

And like I have any proof that you're rich?

  • lol i have the same keybd now

  • Where do you think I could find one of these? PM me

  • cooool xDD

  • Has ANYONE built a time macine? then we can go back to 1996 and play in the good times

  • In 10, 15 years we laugh about Windows 7 :D

  • @xUnbreakMyHeartx "Ohh, remember Windows 7? Those were the days... you could run that shit on anything. Now we got Windows XVIII."

  • @TheGeek1028 How about "Remember Windows?"

  • why are old computers always sooo noisy

  • @LOLZpersonok they aren't. my computer from 1998 bascily makes no noise at all. now the new computer i got sound like a vacum cleaner

  • Comment removed

  • I had an aptiva too! It came with very useful session saving on shutdown, so it would boot directly into your previous session! Used it up to 2002, flash killed its usability. A bit like the iPad ;)

  • HDs where so noisy back then! haha

  • @TrunkMonkey420 Oh, God, you should've heard a 5.25" drive. WAY louder than this.

  • @TheGeek1028 goodness, im only 15 and my dad had old computers with W95 on them and he let me play em occasionally and hearing the sounds of an old computer, brings back memories haha

  • @TheGeek1028 Well I don't have a 5.25" drive but I have disks

  • i love this PC

  • old memories

  • Faster than Vista...

  • Faster than Vista...

  • That's great stuff. I remember thinking how cool it was that the computer would actually turn off on its own. I still think that start up sound is very cool

  • Oh that sound takes me back.

  • love watching these videos lol

  • Nice computer, I'm getting 3 computers today, 2 with windows 95 and 1 with windows 98

  • PC specs?

  • AMD K6 166 MHz

    80 MB PC-100 SDRAM

    2.1 GB Seagate ST32122A

    ATi Rage II+ DVD

    Windows 95B

  • @TheGeek1028 ....which you split in half

  • what a lame ass piece of shit video, what the fuk was the purpose of watchin this bullshit, u stupid retard...

  • You know, you probably wasted more time writing down the comment than you did watching the video.

  • Is your hdd still alive? Keep this video forever and treausre it with your life, not many oldies that still run

  • Nah, the sealing that was on it actually corroded through, causing a small hole in the top casing and thus causing a head crash 2-3 days after discovered.

  • XD the grinding

  • Yeah, that was a 3.5" 2.1 GB hard drive... from 1997. ATA/33, Seagate ST32122A.

  • Aaa... memories. My first computer was an IBM Aptiva. Got in in 97.

  • Aaa... memories. My very first computer was an IBM Aptiva, back in 97.

  • OMG...wow I havent seen one of these computers in a VERY long time....do you have the startup sound of your IBM because I would LOVE to download it..I haven't heard that sound in a long time and would love to have it as my startup sound for my thinkpad

  • Wow, i used to have one of the really older modles of that type when i was a little kid i was a f*cking retard and took it apart and nao i wish i hadent..... but never the less, good video!

  • my aptiva crashed

  • This vid brings back memories... ^^

I'll have to buy one of these. Don't know why, I just need to XD

  • windows 95 actually looks new, it just had many operating and security shortcomings.

  • LOL this video got me a partnership invite.

  • the keyboard that came with it was pretty good , better than most modern ones

im still using it on one of my newer machines

  • Yep.

I have an extra one similar to it from a 300PL my school had and converted it into a USB keyboard.

  • My last desktop was an IBM Aptiva E(36?), it featured an AMD 200 MHZ processor. The Aptiva was a vast improvement over its predecessor: an early '90s VTech Laser 386SX with a Reveal CD-ROM multimedia kit. installed.

  • Windows 95 Start up sound at 1:02

  • Thanks!!!

  • Yeah that windows 95 start up was pretty cool sounding

My first computer was an IBM Aptiva...Well first PC rather.. my first computer was a commodore Vic 20

  • Windows 95 shut down sound at 1:31

  • I had Aptiva too!

  • What are the specs??

  • 166 Mhz AMD K6

    80 MB PC-100 RAM

    2.1 GB Seagate ST32122A

    ATi Rage II+

  • @TheGeek1028

The Aptiva i just got for my collection has a AMD K6 too, and 128mb of RAM (64x2). There's no hard drive in it right now, but i do have a 6GB hard drive on the way. i'll probably install 98 on it.

  • heh i have an old 1995 A-TRONIC PC which runs Windows 98. It hasn't got automatic shutdown, but it has 32 MB RAM, Diamond video card with 2 MB video RAM and floppy drive, CD drive (12x-16x) and 2 harddrives! XD

i practically grew up with it...*sniff*

  • I had an old IBM Aptiva (that I loved and grew up on) that was the desktop form. The reason for the non automatic shutdown is due to the fact that it may be AT and not ATX (form factor) or its just not ACPI compatible. Most AT's have hard power switches connected to the PSU themselves. This applies to most but not all machines.

  • Why Windows 3.1 Startup sound for shutdown???

  • I don't know. This computer was all original when it came to me. Even the original Seagate Medalist hard drive. 2 GB.

  • and WOOOOW!!! automatic shutdown?!?!

  • Yeah. I got it to work with Windows 95B in VPC 2007 SP1.

  • because it also happens to be the shutdown sound for Win95.

  • Wish i could rate this. i would rate it 5/5

  • I like your window 95 computer

  • Comment removed

  • Erm, is it me, or is this version of Windows 95 actually the original RTM/Retail/OEM version? Because the boot screen just says "Microsoft Windows 95." Without "Microsoft Internet Explorer" underneath.

  • Is it me, or is the version of Windows 95 the original RTM/Retail/OEM copy? The boot screen just says "Microsoft Windows 95."

  • OEM. It said IBM under Computer Properties.

  • I wish Apple wouldn't have switch from the Motorola processors to the Intel Processors.

Windows Vista runs good on a 64-but 2.20Ghz dual-core processor, 360GB of HDD and 3GB of RAM.

  • I have a PC and a Macintosh,

  • i have that same computer in my room but it runs windows 2000

  • I have an IBM Aptiva from '99 that has a first generation AMD Athlon (K7) @ 550MHz. Still runs too. Hell it even came with a CD burner (big deal back then lol), was $3,000 when my mom bought it.

  • cool

  • Oh, I read your question about whether or not the 166 MHz AMD K6 in this computer can be run without a fan. My 450 MHz AMD K6-2 needs a fan, but my 266 MHz Pentium MMX doesn't.

The way to find out is to run the computer while keeping your hand on the heatsink. Run a few programs, a 3D screensaver or game, etc. If Windows becomes unstable and/or the heatsink is too hot to keep your hand on it, I would get a small fan. If not, you might be okay without a fan. Just check on it once in a while.

  • Even withy a fan, when I had 95 on this, I bought a temp sensor, stuck it under the heatsink, using a high res screen saver at 1024 by 768, temp was 33 C. Temps shouldn't be much higher than that. All I'm gonna use it for is music and basic web browsing. If I can get my 30 GB back from a friend, I'll host a small web server.

If you can find a good socket 7 CPU over 233 Mhz, PM me.I want to try to run XP on that. It probably is capable of it anyway.

  • 33°C is very low - my 1.7 GHz AMD Sempron with a huge aluminum heatsink and fan averages out at 60°C. Maximum temp for an AMD K6 is 70°C. Try it with the temp sensor without the fan and see what you get.

According to what i've read, that computer has 80 MB of RAM? So yes, that computer is capable of running Windows XP. Just Barely, though.

Does that computer run at a 66 MHz system bus speed? Also, does the processor run at 2.9V, and can you change the voltage?

  • 320 MB, 128 and 256, both 100 Mhz SDRAM.

2.9 V, no voltage change, 66 Mhz system bus.

Tried it without a fan and got 49 C. Also running onboard video. But the video has its own processor.

  • Onboard video always have their own processor. (Which I believe is actually the northbridge.)

The fastest processors for your computer are the 150 MHz Intel Pentium, the 200 MHz AMD K6, and the fastest-clocked Cyrix 6x86, but that processor is slow compared to the Pentium or K6.

So, if you're looking for a processor upgrade, the only one is the 200 MHz K6. It comes in different voltages though, so if you find one, make sure it's the 2.9 volt version.

  • I saw a 233 Mhz AMD K6 2nd generation on 2.9 V Socket 7 on eBay for $32.75 Buy It Now price.

I'll look and see if I can find anything.

  • You mean an AMD K6 "Model 7" or an AMD K6-2? According to the wikipedia articles for each, the K6-2 never came in a 2.9V package, and the 233 MHz K6 and K6 Model 7 never came in a 2.9V package. But if it says so on eBay, it *might* be true. (You can never entirely trust eBay sellers.)

  • 2nd gen, original K6. Socket 7, 2.9 V. 233 Mhz.

  • I have a simular model except mine has that door thing that you pull up and down.

And why after the IBM logo does it show a floppy disk? (in DOS mode) Not in the video, but that happened to mine.

  • Does it load any OS?

It may be a feature saying "insert a floppy disk to start ----"

  • nice wallpaper, but the boot up takes forever...

  • Windows 95 filled with a gig of stuff? That's still a pretty quick startup, considering how slow and primitive the IDE controller is.

  • well i didnt know its filled with 1 GB of stuff! -_-

  • The clicking and rotation were louder than the single 50 mm fan on the processor. It was the smaller fan in my 9v fan video.

  • Do you know how do the same Harddrive-sound

    With newest DD?

I love this old sound :^^

  • It's just tick tick tick tiiiick tick... wait... tick.

  • My Windows 98 SE had a 89.7 GB HDD with 1GB RAM! It was way fast.

  • My Windows 2000 ThinkPad has 100 GB and 320 MB of RAM. Boots in less than 2 minutes on 600 Mhz PIII

  • how fast was the processer

  • 166 Mhz. AMD K6 with MMX technology, and SSE.

  • It can't be - The K6 (or K6-2 or K6-III) never had SSE instructions. The first AMD processors to have SSE were the K7 series. (Athlon and Duron) The K6-III did have SIMD instructions, which are somewhat similar to SSE.

  • SSE co-processor in one of the PCI Slots.

  • Cool! I've never heard of those! Maybe i'll grab one someday for my AMD K6-2 computer.

  • It's basically a mini-motherboard on a PCI card. I got mine equipped with the machine when I got it. Generic brand. Plus, Windows 2000 reads it now as a 233 Mhz machine. Apparently "dual core." Shows load for both of them.

  • Aw, sweet!

  • I also got the 95 CD from the original owners before I took it apart, since I upgraded it to 2000. Apparently, 95 reads it as 1 processor. Says "233 Mhz AMD Genuine processor"

  • It shows up in device manager as "66 Mhz generic processor." I believe it could've been a card for an Apple computer. Apple had Windows co-processors available back then.
