The thing that pisses me off about Barker's drumming is that it's so linear and mechanical. Never seen him do shit for a swing beat and he only on rare occasions can pull off triplets out of his tipical rap beat bullshit. Chad Smith might be a little ridgid in the way he plays, but what he plays is smooth, flowing, and funky.

Yeah, but Chad has a funk style. He plays with Glenn Hughes, and that is definitely funk. Same thing with the Bombastic Meatbats. The only actual rock groups he is in right now are Chickenfoot and RHCP.

But I agree that Bonham, Ward, Mitchell, Paice, all those guys influenced him.

Saying travis barker is so limited is such a bull comment. if you've ever heard Blink 182's live album, the amount of song he plays unbelievable latin, fusion and funk grooves is crazy. Travis comes from an all marching background, but he can really kick out the different genres. Chad is a fucking awesome drummer but travis's dynamics are far superior. Marching percussion is ALL about dynamics. People diss travis, but they couldnt play half the shit he plays on snare let alone on the kit.
