a bear can smell you for miles.the best thing to do is get the hell out of there.i lost a friend in a similar situation.he was not so lucky

Yosemite is on my "to visit" list. Sweet story. We have bears here walking the streets in some prats of our city (Brasov - Romania). BBC made a documentary about it some years ago.
