Why are Americans living in a fools paradise about this man. It is not fiction that he was a Nazi supporter - there is footage of him shaking hands and telling the Nazi's how much he admired their aircraft and ideas. He was very aware and supported the extermination of Jews. Also, Lindbergh had 3 other families in Europe and one in America!!! He was an awful man. You can deny this all you want. Why do you think his wife, Anne Lindbergh, was not buried near him. She grew to hate his guts.

I never understood what all the fuss about Lindbergh was; most americans seem to think that he was the first person to fly non-stop across the atlantic, which of course he wasn't. That was Alcock and Brown, in 1919. Lindbergh was simply the first to do it solo - his main achievement was 'not falling asleep'. A&B had to climb out onto the wings to smash ice off, and bail snow out of their cockpit - now THATs an achievement. When Lindbergh landed he said '"Alcock and Brown showed me the way!" '.

Previously Lindbergh was a stunt pilot (the "Flying Fool") and a mail pilot, equally hazardous at the time. He decided as along as he was risking his life every day, he might as well make some money at it. The NY to Paris flight was worth $25,000 in prize money.
