This was the most owesome hike I've ever done! It took every ounce of energy of me to finish it and every part of my body ached, but the sence of accomplishment is invaluable. The sights are worth the effort, I am so glad I was able to do it. Thanks for posting the video. Lilian
After leaving a tight line you continue your way on the back of a water-pipeline into the rainwoods, acending to the top of a crest, descending in a brimstone colored valley with many hot springs.
Between this Valley of Desolation and the Boiling Lake you take a bath in of the natural small "bad tubs" located in a squiring warm stream overgrown with orchids called "bird of paradies"
Sitting in those tubs was one of the funniest and most beautyful things I did during my Caribean trips.
Been there, done that. Its like the journey from Lord of the Rings. I was sooo tempted to drop a ring in boiling lake. I think IF I ever go back, that is EXACTLY what I'll do.
yeah the hike there took me 6 hours. 3hr in and 3 out. i love hiking and that was the most extreme i ever had. every body parts hurt like hell. once may be enough for me. but the beauty is undeniable!
very interestin place .......it looks invitin..........i have family from there and i neva been to that particular lake can wait for the next visit........thankz for the clip
There was a guide who fell in and he was discovered two days later because he could not climb out. Rescuers had to use ropes and a helicopter to get him from the edge of the hot pool and fly him to Martinique for his severe burns and broken bones.
I also heard of a German tourist who fell in as well but his body was never found. At least this is how the story goes.
tsk tsk... i carely don't see the steam coming out from the lake, how can it be cold???, i went there the smell alone tell you that the boody thing is hot
My husband went to school in dominica, we lived there for almost 2 years. I so regret not having done Boiling Lake while we were there. I am definitely going to do it when we take our kids to dom. for a visit.

I get the distinct feeling that if dominica were to erupt again, it would be at boiling lake that it would all start!!

This hike is absolutely stunning, well worth the gruelling hike and no problem at all if you're in any kind of shape. A truly unique wonder.
