OK, seriously. This was my favorite favorite video of all time when I was a little kid. When I first rode the Haunted Mansion and saw the dancing ghosts from the title song (which may have been cut from this posting. No problem), I flipped out. This is awesome!
Thanks for the upload, it reminds me of the best times of my childhood. Back when Disney didn't suck balls, back when Halloween was fun and for kids not teenagers and adults. Back when people still had fun.
I am so glad I found this channel. So many wonderful memories of sitting on the couch with my bucket of popcorn and watching Disney movies and tv shows all them years ago. Thank you for the memories.
Weird, I remember seeing this with the magic mirror as a narrator. Also, I can't remember, but I thought I remember seeing the entire Bald Mountain scene, as well. Maybe I remember it from Fantasia.
@vadumee2 The Magic Mirror hosted portions of A Disney Halloween, also on my channel. Also, I don't think the Bald Mountain segment was ever shown in its entirety for these specials.
@cradlegirl2006 so did i i have it on tape now cause my parnets recored for me i think the first time i saw this was like 6 it scared me so badly lol so glad it's on youtube
@ExplorerDS6789 I find it hilarious how Disney tries to make it look like it's not Satan by changing the name. Even in the intro(at least on the 2010 Blu Ray), Deems Taylor refers to him as "Satan." You can't confirm someone's name better than that!
When they didn't show this on the Family channel this year, I nearly cried. I'm a whole lot older but it's like tradition to me. Good memories, I miss how Halloween used to feel.
omg with hallow in less than 10 mins this show brings back so many memories of when i was a child, these 21st century kids are soo deprived its a shame!!
@whitney524 Halloween Treat/A Disney Halloween were both produced at the same time. A Disney Halloween has more footage (Like the magic mirror) because it was designed to fill a two hour time slot.
@DTVzone thanks :) i just subscribed to you. i love that you have added a majority of the old school disney channel holiday specials!
i miss the old disney so much! especially around halloween! a disney halloween, the halloween that almost wasnt (i think thats what it was called?), the worst witch, etc.. god bless nostalgia :)
The thing I remember the best from this show was the pumpkin (except the skeletons dancing of course). I love how his mouth closes when he talks and opens when he is silent.
I remember this when i was a kid. My brother and i use to make fun of that pumpkin. if they ever do put this on dvd they will cut it up like crazy like disney likes to do on their movies.
OMG, thank you so much! I watched this every year when I was little in the 80's..thank you so much having this..I missed watching it..and Disney sucks b/c they don't even play this on their Disney cartoon channel anymore.
These good old holiday specials from the 80s sure get me into the spirit. It even makes me wish they were still on television today instead of the garbage being shown on the Disney Channel.
This is so adorable. Whoever uploaded this THANK YOU! I saw that this video aired way back in 1982. Woww!! I wasn't even born yet (I was born in 1988), and I'm only 22 years old. A youngin' :) Love watching these old kid movies for fun, just to get me into the Halloween spirit. The introduction is too cute, I might add. Wasn't the Owl at 03:06 from Winnie The Pooh? The first Halloween party took place in Cold Mountain. How far does that date back? Part 1 gets a round of applause from me!! :D
@bluffgrad07 I was born 1983 and grew up with Disney's wonderful work: classics such as the Night on Bald Mountain and the Mickey Mouse shorts, that were made decades before my time. Halloween was made especially fun by the Disney Channel (which was also young) because of shows like these, before the network aired hideous sitcoms aimed for kids. The neon Mickey also harkens back to those special occasions when our mom let us rent something from the video store. Thank you so much for posting.
@neddx Trust me, you do NOT want to go out drinking with that Pumpkin. He gets wasted on, like, two beers and does not know when to shut up. He also starts fights *constantly*.
Amazon has the VHS for sale at a whopping 197.00 dollars, so I got the Bugs Bunny Howloween special for ten bucks which is being reissued Sept. 7. I can see this special here, besides, the episode ALL ABOUT MAGIC is pretty cool in The Sword in the Stone dvd, and I have all these in full lengh versions.
@supermandisco As stated previously, this is from a HQ avi of the VHS that's all over the internet. Buying a secondhand VHS copy of this at any price is a waste of money.
I absolutely love this Disney Halloween special. I miss the original Disney Channel. It's just not the same anymore...Walt Dinsey would roll in his grave if he could see what has become of the Disney Channel...
Disney could give a shit about anyone over 15 these days..would it really kill them to air this a couple times in October I dont care if its at 1 a.m on a tuesday... would be nice but no room with them airing hannah montana 10 times a day
Is this a version of Disney's Halloween Treat that I can get on DVD if I looked for it? The video quality is great. But I saw this show on Disney's Family channel only a couple years back and the video quality was awesome, it doesn't need to be remastered, so why Disney doesn't officially release this one on DVD is beyond me.
@AtariTiger If you search "Halloween Treat 1982 VHS rip" on any search engine, you'll find a torrent for the AVI file this is derived from.
My guess is that they don't feel there's a big enough market to put out compilation specials like this on DVD. Hopefully they'll change their tune one day, or do some sort of internet distribution the way Warner Bros has done with some of their lesser known catalog titles.
@DTVzone Thanks for the tip on where I can get this. Now I can save my $ from buying it on ebay... again. I've bought 2 copies of Disney's Halloween Treat on VHS from ebay and both were bad bootlegs, and the seller who I had bought from is still selling this for $30. For collecting purposes though, an original VHS of this show is worth up to $200.
omgsh! i used to love this. but does anyone remember that one scary movie that Disney did? "Watcher in the Woods"? Mad Madam Mim was my favorite villian! lol and Medusa from "the rescuers"
Thanks so much for posting this. My kids watched this every October on the Disney channel after trick-or-treating and we finally taped it and played it for a long time, then the video eventually disappeared. I think Disney quit showing it, which is a shame. Brings back great memories of the 1980s!
Disney needs to seriously bring this back, I'm saying just remaster it other than that its perfect. I swear Disney has no idea how much money it would make if they brought all the classics back because I would buy this in a heartbeat. I feel bad for kids these days with nothing but Hannah Montanna and Jonas Bros to look forward to. This IS Disney. =D None of this live action crap. [no offense if you like it; I know i dont!]
@BurningMyDreams well i was a hannah montana fan and wizzards of waverly place but i love the old stuff! i mean i'm 23 but i wish they would bring this back! my nephew is 5 and he loves old cartoons he would love this!
Thank you for posting this & others. Now that I have showed them to my niece and daughter they want me to buy them so they can watch it all the time. Is there a way to buy copies from you or for you to tell me where to go to buy them. I have looked everywhere! I haven't found them & the girls are sad (including the rest of the family). It would be greatly appreciated.
i don't know if i ever saw the one with the pumpkin...i only remember the mirror....thank you so much for posting this! i watched this every year when i was younger. i can't believe you can't get it on DVD!!!
Watching these shows take me back to the good old days whether it means Halloween or Christmas. I do hope people out there haven't lost that holiday spirit from long ago. The pumpkin narrator used to scare me long ago. And it also shows how cool programs like this from the eighties used to be. And it makes me glad I was born in 1982. Bald Mountain and Sleepy Hollow used to creep me out as well.
This is the fist version of this Movie there is second one where there is no pumpkin has a host they changed it to the Mirror form Sleeping Beauty his verson is rare and hard to find and is my favroit one . Halloween is still alive at my house my kids and I all dress up every year !
l remember watching this when i was a girl on halloween and the only part i can remember is where Donalds kids fly on a broomstick into a house, Best childhood memory.
I have been trying to get this on dvd but only on vhs so far...they should release it on dvd, one of my family's personal faves...have it on vhs but getting old.
I know. Halloween is great. like the death of good Disney films, the Halloween spirit seems dead as well. A lot of places don't allow door to door trick or treating because it's too dangerous and I don't see or hear about t-ping houses anymore. it's sad.
Halloweens not gone at my house, we have at least 200 or more kids every year. I have all 1960's decorations and lights outside with cornstorks and haybails. It looks and feels like 1963. Parents tell thier kids ,this is how Halloween used to be. The kids have never seen old time 1960's halloween. What made it worth while, a little girl said, thank you so much for doing this .
You're lucky. We buy a shit load of candy every year, expecting a big turnout like we had over a decade ago, but the numbers are dwindling now. When I first moved into the house I'm living at now, we had at loast a hundred kids, and we did a big theatrical setup with out decorations (the Halloween theme some on the stereo, strbe lights simulating lightning, fog machines, and the kids loved it). Now, this past Halloween, we got maybe 20 kids. And Halloween "ends" at 8:30pm. Disgusting.
In the 1960's we TRICK OR TREATED after school and then after dinner,it was always really cold. We had shopping bags and would stop in at home to unload for the next trip out. We lived in Queens NYC, so we had the population density for loads of candy. No parents at night, the older kids watched thier little brothers or sisters The early 1960.s , the classic halloween experiance, just before the candy scare of razor blades or drugs in candy. A wonderful magic time and memory,
Night on Bald Mountain used to frighten and intrigue me so much when I was a small lad. I always wondered (and still do) how they did the animation for the ghosts flying out of the graves. I've still not seen anything that can top that imagery and hope to mimic it in some way in one of my haunts one of these days. Thank you Disney for the inspiration those many years ago!
wow....my childhood.... thanks for posting, havent seen this since i was oh i dont know maybe 6 years old

I KNOW RIGHT!! I grew up watching this VHS every day till it crapped out on me when I was 10.. that day... I cried like I was 3...
thatluizkid 2 years ago 2
Yeah, and they should combine it with "a Disney Halloween" and also throw in some clips from "the Nightmare Before Christmas"

Your best bet is to download it off of youtube with real player, or find an active torrent of this special, and burn it to a DVD.

I love Halloween! You know, there is indeed a few special ingredients for a really good Halloween party:
1. a few Wicked Witches
2. a few Disney Villains
3. a few Halloween Treat
4. a few Halloween Tricks (And oh, yes,)
5. a few Scares
ratiganrules 2 years ago 5

I vaguely remember the part about Madame Mim chasing around Merlin. I also remember getting creeped out by the ghost/cemetery scene from "Fantasia"
