  • mac benchmark programs, now THATS an idea

  • when ARE THE NEW IMACS COMING!

  • Lol.... this kid always is talking shit about all computers if they are not a mac but at the same time if you listen to his videos he has no idea what actually makes a computer good.... he just reads off the stats of the computer. Anyone who has built their own computer and sees this kid talking just must die laughing because i know i do.

  • @TheKazable so true this guy hasnt got a clue about anything outside of his own stuck up little mac lover world XD

  • ok, imac 27" with the i7 is a better value than a mac pro and a 27" LED display, but as for longevity, i'd rather a mac pro that's cheap to upgrade, fix and tweak. i can't add esata ports to an imac yet i can my 07 mac pro. yes, the i7 quad cores hyperthreaded may be really fast but i'm hanging on to my 8 core 3 ghz mac pro for atleast two more years before investing in a new one (16 core when they're available.) and then my 8 can be my server.

  • As soon as I heard your accent, I died laughing.

    Literally. I died.

  • Hyperthreading can make certain tasks up to 15-30% faster compared to similar, but non-hyperthreaded processor.

  • Oh collection of Mac Os .Steve Jobs?

  • Mac Pro (4-core, 8-core or 12-core) > any iMac

I would rather be able to RAID SSD's, upgrade my RAM to a possible 64gb rather than being stuck with a 2tb drive, and being limited to 16gb...The only thing I love about the iMac is the magnificent 27" screen.

  • FANBOY!!! FANBOY FAGG! GO SUCK STEVE JOBS' DICK YOU FUCKO!

  • Thumbs up on apple soldier saying Apples are not Dependable.

  • Question?

Are the CPU's in the iMacs, Desktop grade or Mobile grade?

  • You know guys, his Xeon based Mac Pro is a few years old right? And as fast as tech advances, this doesn't mean too much. Compare that i7 to a newer Xeon if you ever get one and then you can say for sure which is better overall. But if just pointing out a newer i7 is more efficient than a 3 year old CPU, of course it is. Newer Xeon's best older ones too lol.

This isn't enough to say see, an i7 IS just as good or better. Maybe they are but this isn't the best test to prove/disprove that.

  • its called Hyper Threading. "8 cores" Jesus Christ You don't know any fukin shit

  • what is the purpose of having all of that ????

  • all morning.

probably a long time for you.

  • can you get the twang out of your voice? Do you brag about being from the South?

  • Comment removed

  • twennne faaaaave

  • Thanks for the review! I'm purchasing the i7 in 3 days and literally coming out of my skin in anticipation! OMG, the glory of the machine, it will be like heaven!

  • OMG!! Every1 WATCH Dis!!!!!!!!!!

    watch?v=jqvZrdXMVIk

  • yay! u said is Zeon, i always hear idiots call it Ex-on. dont people know the X makes a Z sound? like Xylophone its said Zylophone

  • @AppleKidzTechTak quit being a grammar nazi, everyone knows what they mean !! :P

  • I like your enthusiasm brother..

  • ha ha im surprised you have a dell monitor i thought you hated everything that didnt have an apple on it does ur wife have an apple tatoo

  • that accent reminds me of "they took our jobs!!!" in south park hahaha

  • WHAT? 15 minutes for a 1gb file? Am I hearing this right? I can transfer a 2.5 GB file in windows 7 in 30 seconds. WHAT THE HELL?

  • @mikitymike Lol Windows 7

  • @MartinODell86 yeah, windows 7, faster and more customizable than shit osx. Oh and service packs are free, instead of having to pay just to change it to a different cat.

  • @mikitymike Do you even have a mac? Mac is very customizable. Windows is fast but windows is trash. Have fun with your viruses mal ware and free service packs Lol

  • @MartinODell86 So you are saying I can't have fun? Because I never get viruses or malware. (really, where do you macfags get that from?) Yeah, I don't have to pay money for shit features, I get them for free. LOL customizable, changing the wallpaper doesn't count. With a PC, I don't need to send in my whole computer to get my webcam fixed. I also get error messages allowing me to know what the problem is, on a mac, you get a fucking circle. YEAH, REALLY HELPFUL.

  • @mikitymike No lots of ways of customizing a mac. its obvious you have never even owned a mac and sitting here arguing with me about it. And yeah no viruses or malware. I never said you can't have fun on windows. I dont pay for features either? Dont even know what you mean by that. I have iMac so my webcam most likley won't get broken sitting in one spot. You are pretty ignorant.

  • @MartinODell86 Obvious you are a dumbass for being able to perform the feat of getting a virus on a pc. you have to pay to change the name of the cat and get 1 or 2 good new features. Just because it is sitting in one spot doesn't mean it can't break.

  • Rippin dvd's on my macbook 2,2ghz 1h 45min and on my Imac i5 it takes about 30 minutes!

  • So the i7 you have is more productive than your Mac Pro quad..... yet in another video you claimed your Mac Pro is just as productive, or more productive, than an i7.

Oh wait, I get it... this is a comedy video, right? As in for laughs?

  • @FoodMoTron3k no, this imac is faster but not as dependable.

  • @AppleSoldier How is it not as dependable? Did Apple put a time limit on how much you can use it? lol

  • @AppleSoldier Please Watch Dis

    watch?v=jqvZrdXMVIk

  • @AppleSoldier sorry dude but mac pro is way better reason : u can upgrade it and repair it easely : the Processor, The HDD, The Ram, The Graphics card. try to do that on an imac "except ram ofcorse"

  • @GICTechTV Don't compare all-in-one computers to desktop computers.

  • @FenrirLupus With Japanese releasing, it is good, is? it makes no sense and I just think that apple could put a little more power in there systems for the ammount of money ..

  • @FenrirLupus and besides what my native language is but why would i wan't 2 or 3 machines to do what I can do with 1 ore

  • @FenrirLupus no it isn't why???

  • @JeremiahCardin oh sorry I spent 8 years in Tokyo Japan

  • @FenrirLupus Well then I would have4 rooms of macs since I'm running 3 servers each of which have 4 six and eaight core xeons and they are pushed to their limits and these servers that I run can blow the xserve away dual quads that is weak I would have to run to run about 8 xserves to get close to the preformance ive got now and you dont get up to 15 15000 rpm hdds with xserve i have 15000rpm cheeta's the xerve can't even compete ...

  • @FenrirLupus No I have some ibm eservers that have 4 quad core xeons you can only get 2 of thos in the fastest macpro and I have 128 gb ram and the mac pro maxed at 32gb and i installed a 4gig video card which you can't install in the macpro so the mac pro I wouldn't consider an high end machine .....

  • hey i bought mine today...and all i have been experiencing with this 1 TB HDD is NOISE NOISE AND MORE NOISE....like rumbling of a stomach...gave you because its really irritating me

  • Oh no I have 3 pc's that can do it all better

  • nice review, really. But you must have one of the thickest accents I`ve heard in a long time ;) Keep up the good work. cheers

  • How do you get your core's displayed on the taskbar? = O

  • iStatMenus Pro

  • Google istat by iSlayer or atmonitor by atPurpose.

    Peace.

  • Flawed comparison ¬_¬

A 4 year old pro against a week old i7?

    Get real

  • ok so you did run FCP and it works good, awesome. I've got a Q for ya..

I'm going to get the 27 inch quad core, what do you think would be better for my budget?

    A i5 with 8 gigs, or

A i7 with 4 gigs, I'm going to be using for FCP and AF. what ya think?

  • Have you run After Effects or Final Cut on the i7?

And i was just at the Mac store and they said the imac i7 at $2,300 is "comparable" to the New mac pro that starts at $2,500 with no monitor.

  • Well What do u fucking think a they are compleatly different prosesors types from different years

  • RPM hard drive? come on man get the Solid state...

if you really need more space you can just get external drives.

  • horrible accent

  • @J03KAH Yankee?

  • Horrible manners.

  • Dumb statement.

  • well, that's why he is talking a little more like Chris Pirillo... maybe his hero... lol

  • @J03KAH

lmfao XD its true as mean as it is

  • @J03KAH your not perfect neither are you... =) thought so...

  • @J03KAH That's very nasty of you. TBH I really don't get all the bad attitude, this guy is generous enough to let us observe these products so just shut up and watch.

  • Eric forget the raptor thats waaaay old news.... get yourself a SSD (Solid State Drive) that will help you process everything way faster than the raptor...

  • Awesome review! Have to have one!!!

  • Please understand a 2006 Mac Pro Quad is has Duel 2.66GHz CPU's to make it a Quad Core.

YOU ARE REALY NOT IN ANY WAY SAYING

    SOMETHING

    NEW!

YOU'RE GUESSING ON 100% OF WHAT YOU SAID

THE TRURTH IS THE 2009 MAC PRO VS iMac 2009

    THE MAC PRO WINS

WOW you found out the new i7 is faster then a four year old Xeon

I want to say NO THE NEXT MACBOOK PRO will use a mobile i7

Please do not speak for Apple you don't know anything!

  • don't speak for apple if you don't work for them period.

everyone got fucking disappointed at the only rock and roll event when the camera for the ipod touch 3rd generation wasn't introduced.

  • Do you catch passers-by in net traps and drag them off to your shack deep in the Virginian forest where you rape them and pickle their organs?

  • I think that the mac pro is more expensive as its more upgradable there are more components to choose from, and when the Intel i9 gets realested, i dont think that the imac will have the i9 processor STRAIT AWAY, so there when the i9 comes out there will probably be a 6 core mac pro and then a 12 core mac pro, as the i9 has 6 cores

  • @ThePCTutorialWorld

i thought the i9 was gonna be a quad with ht tech making it 8 theoretical cores so 16 core's in total when it came out it will be like the quad xeon but for the i7 like an extreme version. i may be wrong though

  • No, its 6 cores but running with the same tecnolity used for the i7

  • seems backwards but hey probably has some features that the i7 don't no doubt apple wont put something worse than the imac has in its pro machine

  • I mean like the hyper threading and stuff like that, but quad cores are dying out

  • @ThePCTutorialWorld

seriously why the hell would they phase 4 core out and have 3 bit weird but hey wen has the tech world ever made sense in what they do

  • the i9 is a siz core prossor, and yes, the tech world has been logicle

  • Chuck Noris disagrees

  • why do you buy two ??

  • I told you Eric. I read it right on macbuyersguide website. The new i7 iMac kills the old Mac Pro. I'm glad you found your proof though. It's freaking awesome! and Eric, the remember, they didn't need to redo the 4850, I have the 4850 in my 24" iMac Intel Core 2 Duo 3.06GHZ. But, because of the redesign, I did hear they were using a desktop 4850 now instead of a laptop version of 4850 like in my iMac.

  • Sbaily99,

You take someone to task for grammar you should probably brush up yourself. It's not YOUR and idiot, it's YOU'RE an idiot. Calling people retard for how they use words should be left to those who really know how to use them.

I'm not saying I do and I never call anybody a retard, that's for kids in 2nd grade who don't know any better. I'm guessing you're a bit older than that so how about acting like it?

  • Wow dude, you really need to get over the sound of the voice and listen to the lecture content. Kids like you can't get over the presentation and follow the content completely miss the boat on the message. Professors are twice as bad, but if you don't listen to the words, you fail. I'm from TEXAS, but travel everywhere and lecture not because I sound eloquent believe me. It's content. I have an i7 on order now, and will be insulting the average Mac worship with a huge NRA sticker!

  • What is the point of this video? It has nothing to do with apple. Should be an I7 vs Xeon video.

  • Reliability has NOTHING to do with apple or anything.. This video honestly has no point.

  • That's what it is, who cares how Eric titled it, it was an i7 iMac vs. 2006 Mac Pro quad, same thing as i7 vs. xeon.

  • This is what people want One iMac i7 vs Mac Pro Two Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem processors give you a total of eight processor cores OR

One iMac i7 vs Mac Pro One Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem processors give you a total of four processor cores.

SO you understand Intel Nehalem is a name for i7 & Xeon is now based on Nehalem but there better then a i7

I can do this iMac vs Mac Pro right now

The 8-core Mac Pro has Two 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon Nehalem CPUs, can hold 32GB of ram

  • Nehalem is NOT the name for the i7.

i7 is the name for their consumer processor lines. Nehalem is the microprocessor architecture which Xeon AND the i7, i5, and i3 is designed for.

Please don't speak if you're going to spread false information

  • @hkseo100 I said this it is fact "SO you understand Intel Nehalem is a name for i7 & Xeon is now based on Nehalem"

I got it you fail Core i3 Based on Westmere (enhanced Nehalem) micro-architecture, You don't talk at all as you just don't know jack Westmere is not Nehalem it is (enhanced Nehalem) !

But you did not know that did you hkseo100?

    Do you like Apples?

I hope you like the Nehalem Apples made by Mr. Jobs suck a egg

  • wow u sound like such a redneck ^^

  • Good effort, but write out what your gonna say before and practice. You stumble, repeat the same sentences over and over, use geekbench, and get to more hard data.

    Good effort.

  • You must be new to his channel. He doesn't need to show respect to your advice. He has earnt the respect of his audience doing things the way he wants,

  • Your an IDIOT! Let me explain...

I didn't post so that he had to show me respect....it was advice so that his future postings may sound better/professional.

    2) The word is EARNED...not 'earnt' you retard....guess that's why you love him so much....you too failed every English class that was offered.

In review of the I7 he does a good job of having the computers side by side and showing that...but again he fails in repeating his words over and over again. He fails to show any geekbench.

  • I do the same thing, but you gotta see it this way, to make another point, we say something again similar in relevance to a new point we're trying to make. Adolescents sucks, but try to learn.

  • Is it fast enough and how fast, transcoding exporting DVCPROHD 1080i/50i video between Premiere cs 4 and Encore?

I often edit videos around 1-2 hours with various export settings.

  • wow, he is born for mac ,

  • oK, What about a 32GB 2008 3Ghz Mac Pro with 4 SSD drives?? does that beat the imac?

  • @Nadav34 Depends on the processor.

  • if you open the imac and put 2 ssd's and 16 gb of ram the imac 27 will still win because the i7 chips have turbo. go up to 3.2ghz

  • Good comparison. This iMac is probably the closest the iMac can get for pure pro use. :)

  • @AppleSoldier

did you have any screen problems on your i7 imac recently?

  • Have you done any Geekbench, Xbench and Cinebench benchmarks on both machines?

    Are both running Snow Leopard?

Seems like the iMac i7 can be a good tool for people that need performance, but are on a budget.

How is the iMac i7 temperaturewise?

BTW: SD-cards (for cameras) are usually way slower than a SSD. :)

Why dont you put a SSD in the Mac Pro? Should speed it up some, as if it need it. ;)

  • too bad for 4850 :(

i wish apple shipped it with 4870 1GB

  • the i7 imac is a BEAST but its still a toy compared to the mac pro octo.

  • MacWorlds benchmarks found the i7 imac is a littlefaster then the base model of the quad core mac pros.

But yeah, Id probabaly get a quad mac pro since its more expandable if I had the money :D

  • @AppleSoldier also did u experience this

  • When running your tests, can you comment on heat and fan noise

  • Hey I thought you dont have a cluttered desktop? Look at the machine on the left, tons of shit on the desktop.

  • its during a change over dude. I had been transferring files all day.

  • Ok, I'll accept that... I was just making sure you weren't gettting cluttered :)

  • now u like the corei7, i remember when u called it a toy on ur alienware rant, u would anything buy with an apple logo.

  • No, the imac i7 is a toy compared to the 8 core mac pro. I still believe that.

  • whats the name of the program thats showing the number of cores you have any processor load you have on the top taskbar?

  • iStat

  • I would NEVER get a mac pro. iMac all the way baby.

  • BTW if you can't wait for an i7 laptop with hyper threading and all that stuff, dell is selling the studio xps 16 with core i7 running at up to 3.0GHZ in turbo mode.

  • Really want to know about the core i7, i5, etc, go read tomshardware, the core i7 has been out for a while now (about one year) so its nothing new, maybe it is for Mac users but PC users has been able to enjoy this tech since long ago.

  • You said not to get a Macbook Pro in 2010? so does that mean that the CPU upgrade wouldn't be until 2011?

Was probably going to get one summer 2010 before school starts

  • im sure he ment wait till 2010, because i dont see apple coming out with a faster core 2 duo again and im about positive they will update the lineup in jan, feb, but i thought they were getting into real quad core processors, ether way sounds good i will be upgrading whenever the newly designed processor is out

  • that's what I was maybe thinking, that he just misspoke, thanks for you're thoughts

  • Great review mate

  • Emeek77 is a moron.

  • you can get os x leopord or whatever its called at hte store by my school for 32 bucks. thats withought ilife and stuff. i would get it but im going to get a 27' mac because i want it so adobe photoshops can actually be seen on my computer. right now theres to many damn windows and its a pain in the ass to keep opening and closing

  • see there is a Mac Fanboy then there is this Guy and before you or any other your follows bitch at me i am a Mac fanboy ish i love the Mac which is why im switching 2 it but still he just goes over the top with it

  • i wish i had one. id be happy with a small screen even

  • i like this guys videos, but hes obsessed with i7's lmao.

  • i just dont like the fact it only has 1 firewire and its fw800 compared to the one i have that has 1 fw800 and 1 fw400

  • Y not get the new macbook pro? Arent they coming out with a new design too? If anyone has any info about this please tell me cuz i might be able to get a mac for x mas and

  • APPLESOIDIER? have you heard of soldierknowbest? you should probably get a new user name.

  • did u do geek bench between the two?

  • lol wow... apple finally makes quad core iMacs.

  • While it's to be expected that the new iMac is better than your ancient Mac Pro, I'd like to see a comparison between the new single-processor Mac Pro, and the new iMac.

The new iMac should theoretically perform the same, or better, at a lower price point, and includes a brilliant display as well.

The iMac is a step in the right direction for Apple.

  • well, benchmarks say the performance on the new iMac is almost as good at a single-processor Mac Pro I believe. a Dual Processor Mac Pro leaves them both in the dust tho.

  • @sc0pl355

True, but at the same time the iMac doesn't have support for multiple hard drives, a shitload of RAM, and graphics updates. To the extent the Mac Pro and the Falcon NW do, anyway.

  • Multiple hard drives?

    Here you go: snipurl. c o m / tbjmo

    Shitload of Ram?

Up to 16 GB isn't enough?

    Graphics updates.

Well, the Graphics card is on a daughtercard. No longer soldered to the Logicboard.

But yeah, on those things, the Mac Pro has a lead, but they aren't really needed.

  • @sc0pl355

16GB is more than enough for me. Might not be for someone else.

As for the external hard drives, ick. They may be speedy enough using eSATA or FireWire, but most people don't buy an All-in-One to plug the rest of their computer into it, so to speak.

  • but... the Falcon Mach V (P55) can only be configured with 8 gigs of ram it seems...

  • @sc0pl355

I wasn't aware we were discussing the P55 model. If that's the case, the iMac is surely a superior machine in that respect.

  • Well, I used the P55 model because the i7 iMac uses a P55 chipset and processor. i haven't looked at the other models tho.

  • Oh, I thought these comments were on Eric's other video, owning someone comparing a Mac Pro to a Mach V. My mistake.

  • Yeah, I know that vid. That's why I talked about the Mach V myself.

  • probably an MXM module for the graphics card, mine is, I can put any laptop card in my specified graphics card class.

  • Hmm, maybe a MXM module. did you look at the iFixit teardown?

  • yeah that is an mxm, looks exactly like mine, but better performance =(

  • Hmm, I see.

  • too much ram slows down your machine, I don't think the mac pro is a good buy because it lacks tri channel since I last looked. Tri-channel> dual channel. its night and day performance difference if you get good kine ram thats overclocked.

  • The performance boost from tri-channel ram is kinda negligible at this point.

  • @XXASCII808XX

No, it doesn't. Too much RAM slows down your machine if you buy shitty RAM that has to run at low frequencies to remain stable.

  • no actually it does, the more ram you add the increased latency, it does not matter if you have good ram or shitty ram. the mac pro is in dual channel, not in tri-channel like a true e5500 workstation, so increasing ram will decrease speed even faster in a mac pro in comparison to a tri-channel machine.

  • @XXASCII808XX

No, the Mac Pro can be configured in either dual or tri-channel configurations, like all X58 based computers.

It's very much possible to use a higher amount of RAM without reducing latencies. That's why there's RAM that costs $40, and RAM that costs $100.

  • why is it dual channel on their website, are they trying to scam their customers out of performance? expensive good ram will reduce latency, but will still increase latency after you start increasing enough ram. the other factor is how good the motherboard is.

  • @XXASCII808XX

You're telling me that the 3GB and 6GB RAM configurations, both consisting of RAM sticks in multiples of 3, are dual channel configurations?

  • I see, why is there an 8 gig option? most be a master plan to add more latency.

  • @XXASCII808XX

Because as I said, the X58 platform supports both dual and tri channel configurations, and the theoretical gains of tri channel configurations far exceed their real life advantage?

  • actually they do have real gains, helps rendering, gaming, working with large files. this is why the i7 920 rapes all new dmi i7's. tri-channel and dmi's shitty bandwidth

  • the i7920 doesn't rape all new dmi i7's dude. Triple-channel ram doesn't help the 920 out very much. The 920 does OC better and does handle SLI/Crossfire better. But it isn't raping anyone.

  • lol did you see ADR's new video, poor emeeks iMac =D

  • Deadrat? The guy's a Troll. I don't trust anything he posts.

  • lol too hard to grasp a core i7 920 beat an imac?

  • No

I just don't trust anything deadrat shows or does. I've been in MVP for a long time and have caught deadrat SEVERAL TIMES trying to pull a fast one. Seriously, the guy is almost as bad as Moldytoaster.

OF COURSE if you OC a 920 high enough, you could beat an 860. Is deadrat honest enough to do a straight test? Nope, not from what I've seen.

  • lol I wonder what you think he did, I know why he got high scores lol, it has nothing to do with the editing.

  • Did I say it had to do with editing?

  • I never implied it, What do you think he did, if he is moldy toastering.

  • Hmm, his computer could be overclocked or he could have tweaked cinebench to give him a better score. I'm just saying.

Tho, emeeks score isn't the average that Macs get either. so there may be a problem there with his cinebench. All I know is that I don't trust ADR and haven't ever since he showed up in MVP.

Hell, he tried to stab me in the back when I was fighting with VOICE. Of course, I knew what he was going to do and tricked him into helping me own VOICE.

  • close

I notice faster cpus help opengl in cinebench, or maybe my cpu is a bottleneck. I went from 4400 to over 7000, I think I could go higher but my nvidia chipset is shit for ati cards, a p45 would score higher but I don't want to buy another lga 775 socket board.

lol what did ADR do during the voice battle, I was practically cheering you on lol

  • Oh, remember that thing about the dongle that you can buy to use OSX with some PC's?

I told ADR about it and the next day Voice tried to make an ownage vid claiming that I got the price wrong. Then I swept in and blew VOICE clean out of the water.

  • Efi-x? oh I see, he should have not tried to argue hackintoshes when he has no idea how they work.

  • Yeah.

    But it was fun tho.

  • Not only did I catch Deadrat pulling a fast one, but several others have as well

  • and a 16, 32 option. this is dumb as hell, it will trick poor mac users into getting slower mac pros. latency is bad, its not good for breakfast like apple tried to make you believe. don't trust apple ad's latency is not a lie!

  • Um, the octo Mac Pro uses e5500 processors

  • I know it uses e5500, but where is the tri-channel?

They can't be seriously selling slower performance if it does supports tri channel.

  • Well, I don't know about the Mac Pro's Ram. I can look it up.

  • Can you please show me some video of Call of Duty MW2 running on XP or Win 7 in boot camp on the iMac i7 I would ove to see that!

  • Did anyone ever tell you that you look a bit like deadmau5 (joel zimmerman)

  • Nice

  • really awesome

    wish i had one

  • There is quite a dif btw the core i5 and i7, in terms of benchmarks, might as well go i7 !

  • my sd card is an SDHC 30mb/s
