I think that Fender is patching holes in their model range, like they did with American Special, Highway1, et cetera. You want a guitar for 2900 bucks? There it is. You want one for a lot cheaper? There is everything from Blacktop to Modern/Classic player to Standards to... You name it.

Once the wheel had been invented all you could do is make a different looking wheel ... Fender are the true innovators, everyone else (Suhr, Anderson etc) is just copying their designs to a greater or lesser extent .. S types T types etc. Great to see Fender putting out some eye candy guitars !and reminding us just how great they are .... BTW the redhead is gorgeous too :-)

@EfxPedalBoards Disagree to a certain extent. The body shape may be similar but Suhr and Anderson specialise in making the "high end" guitar. IN fact in a way Fender has copied them through putting a maple top on their guitars. Guitar shapes have remained the same for ages now. I haven't seen Fender put out a really out there guitar for ages. If anything Gibson are the true innovators although they have been met with mixed success. I just don't think Fenders work with a maple top.

A.) I don't think Fender's *trying* to be "innovative" w/ this series; I think they're trying to remind the Suhrs and Haars and Tom Andersons of the world who daddy is.

B.) If you MUST have innovation, how 'bout the ad itself? Don't see many of this caliber for most slabs of wood and wire, do ya'?

C.) While I did like the guitars, I'm not gonna' lie, the thing I had the hardest time taking my eyes off of was... shall we say, more *anatomical* in nature... Lots of "WOW" in this video! =|

It's obvious that these guitars are Fender's answer to the Suhr Pro Series (maple top, ''selectes'' wood, modern top, compoud radius e.t.c.). They look pretty awesome though. But I don't know if it's gonna sound like a regular strat with this maple top on them, guess we'll have to wait until we give 'em a try. I believe that if someone wants modern feel AND modern sound should go for the select, but if someone wants modern feel and CLASSIC strat sound should go for the american deluxe.

@yuvalrplaysguitar I don't hate them because I can't afford them. I hate (dislike) them because they're not even close to something innovative. We've seen hundreds of strats, teles, etc. The Modern Player and Pawn Shop series were more steps in the right direction. Fender should stop making the same guitar over and over again, or at least mix it up a bit (see the Pawn Shop '72 Special - thinline strat, very cool).
