Who the fuck would ever live here? The only things here are racism, red necks, shitty sports teams, terrible weather, and a total ass nightlife. The only thing that may be "good" about this hell hole of a city is the restaurants. There was absolutely nothing good about this city. Don't let the big homes fool you. This city has always sucked. Glad I moved out.
@blackisrealites85 The whole state of North Carolina has been hit harder by foreign migration than just about anywhere in the Southeast. Virginia, Georgia, and Florida have experienced diversification, but not as rapidly and most of the migrants have settled into existing communities. North Carolina has experienced particuarly rapid and aggressive cultural change.
Like the approach, packed with information helpful to a real estate buyer, anyone that has never been to your area before. Your buyer is not just local anymore. Good job!
Charlotte just keeps getting better. I've lived here most of my entire life and I've seen the city grow beyond my wildest dreams. It's nice to live in an area where progress happens.
Charlotte is a great place, but live in a surrounding county and mooch off the benefits of the city. (High taxes in the city and the public schools are absolutely horrible)
@marksranger Mark- did you know that 5 CMS high schools ranked in the top 200 in the nation according to Newsweek in 2009? or that 4th and 8th graders ranked either 1st or 2nd in the nation in NAEP- the 20 city comparison of urban school districts.
@CharlotteCommunities Don't forget the excellent public high schools like Providence, Myers Park, Ardley Kell, and South Mecklenberg. These are all near the top for urban public high schools in the United States. Myers Park is especially well known and reknowned for educational excellence.
Atlanta is frequently referred to as the capitol of the New south- so I give them that... but if they are the Capitol, we can be the Heart of the New South...imho
Charlotte is doing surprisingly well. Wachovia didn't turn out to be that bad-Wells is a strong partner and there were no massive layoffs. According to Chamber, we'd added 7500 new jobs through July... and that was ahead of 2008 pace. That said, uptown condso are hurting- and the further out burbs are struggling to hold value. It is a strong Buyers market, and there are Great values here.
Charlotte Real Estate still appears to be on a relativley steady track with modest declines as opposed to steep declines in other part of the country. How do you think the changes in the Charlotte Banking community will effect the market?
Charlotte Real Estate is a passion for me not only as a mortgage professional but also as a Charlotte native. My wife and I fell in love driving around town looking at beautiful homes we dreamed about owning one day. Terry, you have done a fantastic job pointing out what makes Charlotte so special.
Terry McDonald sold us our home in Charlotte about a year ago. If you need someone who knows their stuff and won't waste your time by trying to show you what they like instead of what you like, call Terry. He's the best of the best when it comes to a real estate agent.
I've been here several years and have done well with Charlotte real estate... not crazy- just done well. This is just a blip. Really like Matthews too, they have a great Labor Day Festival, my kids love it and it's great for families! Like your video too, informative and easy to watch.
I know Charlotte real estate has done pretty good through this national mess, price wise at least, but is there any area thats done better than others? What about the market in Matthews? Huntersville?
In general, Charlotte has fared better- but sales are slower, about 38% off the record years 2007 & '06. Prices began falling only last summer and today are about same as 2005.
Specifically, Matthews has done better with sales since 1/1 of 2009 off 23%, and average cost of $107/sf- exactly the same as 2005.
In Huntersville, it is about the same as Charlotte with 38% fewer sales, and average prices at $101/sf .
Still, with the historic low interest rates and low prices, people are buying!
Terry, You representation of Charlotte Real Estate in a four minute segment is fantastic. Being in the real estate industry myself I have to say how impressed I am with the highlights you gave on our uptown and beautiful surrounding areas. Your own personal story is that of which we see everyday and I love the sincerity with which you communicate it. I look forward to working with you in the future!
Im from Detroit and I visited Charlotte once. i 've wanted to live there ever since! Charlotte is one of the greatest cities on the world!!!! The people are friendly, the Downtown is great and the ambiance is fantastic!
Thank you for a very informative video on Charlotte, NC. My husband and I currently live in Emerald Isle, NC (which we love) but after 7 years we're starting to miss urban living with museums, sports arenas, and shopping of course! We've talked about Charlotte, and now thanks to your video and blog, I'm really warming to the idea that Charlotte may be the place that we're destined to live next! :) Thank You!
Well come on over! Charlotte real estate is more affordable than it has been- and our economy is diversified- we will hold up better than most cities. Charlotte is big enough to have the things you are looking for- but without many of the "big city " problems
Like many Charlotteans we love to visit Emerald Island in the esummer
Nice Vid. I enjoyed it. We market properties and other things on youtube, we hope to create a large network of people interested in making money. Your video gets a five star rating from us. I hope you feel the same about ours.
yes-some complain about our traffic here, they probably haven't lived in NYC, or other major cities... not that we don't need more roads, we do. But it is not comparable to other large east coast cities. not at all
Charlotte is truly one of the gems of the earth, but hey, that's because I live here. Not much I can do about that. I enjoyed this little intro, but would suggest you include University City in future iterations.
don't those confederate folks be killing dudes? lmao, just playing, I'm in New Jersey, but I lived there for a few years and I liked it for the most part. But, wish there was a bit more diversity, thats why my yankee ass moved back up north.
Hello! How long ago did you live there? I was Charlotte born and raised, and I have a northern accent! 65% of Charlotteans aren't even Carolina born. And my neighbors korean, and my freinds from manchester. So I'd love for you to appreciate the diversity. But you've seen it!
Hi, I lived there a couple years ago for almost 4 years. I was being more sarcastic then anything. Its a bit diverse, but if it was close to how it is up here in the north, I would find it to be the perfect place. I still love Charlotte and am actually moving back down there in a few weeks. Its calm and pleasant, especially compared to here. Plus much cheaper to live.
I moved here from Austin,TX were I was born and raised and lived for 29 years.
After seeing my hometown being overrun and taken over by what I call, "Foreigners" I decided to make a break for it to the QC.
Don't get me wrong, I love my hometown...I have a tattoo that depicts it but right now, Charlotte is what I call home! Great Vid! Charlotte is beautiful!
An awsome video. I have travelled a lot and Charlotte is one of the most beautiful places to live (Boston number 2). It is expanding fast and becoming a metropolitan city like Atlanta. Everything is within reach (mountains, lake, beach) and moderate climate, clean city, nice people.
I've been to Charlotte and never saw half of what Terry McDonald shows in this video...thanks, I am forwarding your name off to my Charlotte friends...you are the ONLY realtor they should use. :)
I thought this was an excellent description of Charlotte. Though I would like to have seen something about University City (which happens to be the state's 2nd largest job center). Nonetheless great video!
Me too, there was another 3 minutes cut out of this video...and details of University City were left out. I'll be going individual area videos this year as time permits
Wow...so thats the place that I'll be moving to in a few months. I live in NYC but my dads company (Merril Lynch) is moving shops down there and my dad says eventually his company plans to build a skyrise building down there, or atleast thats what he hears. Adding on to Charlotte's beautiful skyline. I thought Charlotte was an overgrown country town but obviously I was wrong. I can't wait...thanks for the video :-]
Exceptional video introducing Charlotte NC... awesome pictures, great dialogue, lovely introduction to several of the main neighborhoods, commerce, and the local real estate market.
I love the video! As a Charlotte native, I think you did a great job showing some of what our city a great place to live. I think people who are relocating here are looking for more than Charlotte real estate info... they are looking for info about the communities. Nice job!
