I read an interview stumpy did with linda kuel some years ago about his friendship with lady Day and i just wondered what he looked like. But he seems to have totally fell off the map I must wonder what was the story ....sigh
When I was coming of age, I used to hear relatives and some of the "old-timers" in Harlem speak of this duo. They apparently were staples at the Apollo theatre back in the day. This is the first chance I've ever had to see them. Really nice.
So glad I decided to put Stump and Stumpy in the search box...I'd only seen a teeny clip of 'em years ago but remembered and wished for more and now my wish has been granted!
I just read the book by June Cross and had to look this up. Thanks so much, really made me smile!!
