  • How contradicting is it that most of the clips shown here and in the documentary is in English. lmao... Filipinos and their colonial mentality.

  • want a simple chant? (in dumaget language) " e mahewege a sagesag ni baybeyin, manatele tebe e kamu mages ni kame a mahewege a behagidi benwan a oyo de tabiang ni Makedepat' (Mahiwagang sagisag ng baybayin, manatili sana kayu tulad namin na mahiwagang bahagi ng bayang ito,sa tulong ng Maykapal)

  • i use baybayin in mantra or bulong!

  • The way Baybayin is written without the final consonant reads, to me as a Visayan, "babayi" = babae. I think the system needs to be further developed, without necessarily having to use intuition for meaning to distinguish between two words that sound different but spelled the same due to the absence of certain consonant. Although I know Tagalog and Visayan are different :)

  • @justaguy230 i think we can just simply filipinise many terms like the japanese do. but i do agree it needs to be further developed, maybe the krus can be implemented only at the end of the word, i don't favor using it too much. i also thing that we need to add 3 more alphabets for 'sha' 'cha' & 'ja' much like 'we have one for 'nga'

  • Hi thank you for uploading this video to help people learn about our original culture! If you are interested, please check out my website, where I have designed a revamped and modernized script based off of baybayin. It's designed to look more linear and professional for everyday use. You can see it put to use in some of my youtube videos, or check out the website at newbaybayin(dot)webs(dot)com. There is also a link on my channel profile! Thank you again for uploading!

  • was that tai chi or a traditional Filipino dance?

  • @looker768 It's actually the Baybayin dance

  • @8raysmedia Wow! Filipino's have a rich history before Hispanic colonization....why isn't this thought in elementary schools?

  • Keep it up po. This nation needs to know its identity before our colonial masters came. The majority of the pages of our history books are about how we were the slaves of other countries. Baybayin is just one of the many proofs that we were a thriving civilization even before the Spaniards set foot unto our shores. This is part of our identity and it's a sad thing that only a few knows about it or wants to know it. Salamat po sa pagpapagal ninyo sa proyektong ito.

  • My dad thinks it's useless that I wanna try learning this since it isn't used in the Philippines anymore and nobody would understand what you're saying/writing. I guess a point to stress out is the importance of preserving this writing system or even taking up the interest in learning it. I hope the film can explain the significance of the objective?

  • @ohhbitemex It's never useless to learn your culture. Baybayin is a gateway to rediscovering our past. Yes, one of the goals of this film is to explain why it's important in modern society.

  • @ohhbitemex i think we need to have a forum for baybayin where people are required to just use baybayin. in that way, there is an outlet, a practice that we can all benefit from. the writing can also be further developed

  • @ohhbitemex unfortunately ur father's generation have a very colonial mentality. my mom is like that, but I was lucky my father ( a bisayan man) was very interested in culture and which helped me to be proud about our heritage

  • Yo nice LA shirt! where can i get one?

  • @neeor10 search for kyrapparel

  • "BaybaYIN"? Or "BayBAyin"?

  • @jjqnario Bay-Ba-Yin but I noticed people tend to say Baybay-Yin when saying it fast

  • @8raysmedia Ok. I was just wondering 'cause BaybaYIN sounds more like a verb (to spell) and BayBAyin sounds more like a noun (spelling or pagkabaybay). I don't want to sound like I'm striving to be politically correct, but I'm just to curious. :P

And that is one VERY interesting project.

  • @jjqnario Thanks. I think I heard about a 6 different ways when I was talking to people.

  • @jjqnario Haha, true true. Bay-BA-yin is the correct pronunciation "to spell by syllables". But as @8raysmedia said, when we're speaking fast (since our society today is all about being "fast"), we mis-pronunce it as Bay-ba-YIN (which sounds more Chinese or "bye-bye-YIN" :p )

  • @plus24seven Yeah, that was pretty interesting. I recorded a demo that used Baybayin Tarot cards to tell my fortune
