V8 lover why dont you just do a power / displacement division and see wich motors are really garbage. Comprare a 99 Prelude and a 2005 Vette if you like.
@mageac yeah umm honda dominates f1 with their v8 and gm bought a v8 head design of honda so umm idk honda makes 200hp with 1.8l chevy makes only 505 with 7.0l so do the math and honda would make 777.77 hp with the same displacement that is impressive my friend
@mageac research my friend research look it up dont take my word for it if you dont want. but your info is wrong misinformed not looking at the whole picture you cant simply double the weight of a four cylinder to get the weight of an eight cuz you would have doubled the amount of outside walls of the block witch is not the case in reality. so if you use shawty fifth grade math and no common sense then what you say almost seems correct however if you have a brain and can use it. different story
@kkkaattt9 that honda engine with 7.0l would weigh about 900-1000 pounds and make 777 hp, gm makes 505 with about 550 pounds... much more impressive my friend
@mageac yeah umm honda dominates f1 with their v8 and gm bought a v8 head design of honda so umm idk honda makes 200hp with 1.8l chevy makes only 505 with 7.0l so do the math and honda would make 777.77 hp with the same displacement that is impressive my friend easily oercomes 50lbs
@mageac not really top fuel burns 15 gallons of nitromethane in a 1/4 mile also if you raced that around a course and not in a straight line it would get worked. not to mention a top fuel engine would grenade itself if you ran it at any extended amount of time. the point was showing a v8 that honda has produced and uses to dominate its competition. also honda didnt need an entire country to spend their taxes just in order to keep themselves alive and selling cars. Game point and match.
@ppdd5 ... so take the indy car engine on a 1/4 mile and see which one gets worked.... its just as relevant...
the fact is... not even the fc20 which is the highest production hp/l in the world has as good hp/pound as an ls7... which makes about 50 less hp per liter....
weight actually matters... amount of liters does not...
also honda doesn't pay thier workers tons of money and give great pensions only to have said workers buy cheap imported cars and destroy the economy
@mageac GM also worked out sharing agreements with other manufacturers like Isuzu and Nissan to fill certain gaps in engineering. Similarly, the company also purchased other automotive firms (like Saab Automobile and Daewoo Motor), eventually folding their engine designs into the corporate portfolio as well.
@ppdd5 what fucking gaps of "Engineering " did a piece of shit american company such as GM have to help out nissan with plz enlighten me? how to make a shithole v8 titan truck maybe? in that case no one gives a fuck
@mageac are you kidding me? chevy is destroying the economy shits made by china you sound verry ignorant first of all ther is no fc20 it is an f20c and no it is not most hp/l second you are simply doubling the weight that isnt the case there is more to consider ther would not be two crankshafts or two water pumps two oil pumps or two of hardly anything that you are doubling your real world skills are lacking so is your knowledge of the world you live in. and your IQ is low i am sure.
@ppdd5 the f20c is the highest n/a hp per liter.... im not doubling the weights... it makes less the half the hp and weighs more then half of an ls7.... do the math dummy
fc20 f20c whatever you know what i meant but you just have to point out typos to try to seem to make more sense... pretty good sign your just full of bs...
gm didnt "borrow" engines from other companies... it owns parts of the other companies...
@mageac gm dont even own its self i am not full of shit you have no brain no common sense it is painfully obvious by your claims wich all lack any facts or sources to back them up. if you didnt simply double the weight of the f20c then how did you arrive at the weight you have claimed it would weigh as an eight? also if honda hurts our economy and chevy helps it provide some evidence of this in the real world. provide something other than your own rambling like maybe a fact or evidence.
@ppdd5 what the hell does doubling the weight have anything to do with the power to weight ratio of an engine....the f20c has 247 hp, and weighs 325 pounds so .76 hp per pound... the ls7 makes 505 hp, and weighs 490 pounds...so 1.03 hp per pound... where im from 1.03 is MORE then .7
lets see now... holden, isuzu, opel, hummer, saab,Vauxhall, daewoo, suzuki, all either owned by, or in partnership with gm....
@mageac HAHAHAHAH omfg im like hysterical... of course the economy is gonna get fucked... make a piece of shit car and no one is gonna buy it lol... no the fucking consumers fault sound more like the makers fault... nobody wants a POS zo6
@mageac yeah of course i know that if we dont buy american cars then in the long run we have less money in our wallets... maybe we as americans shuld quit makin shit v shaped engines inside of cars and maybe worry about other shit in our country... america has failed at making cars for a whole century and we still try makin them better... just sayin i would rather be broke with a reliable honda then have money with a shitty american car thats gonna break on me every 10k miles
ah your one of those types, if the engine in in a v shape then its no good, the fact is inline engines take more room, need bigger engine bays and end up making the cars more inefficient.
and pretty much every car company makes v block engines :S
@mageac thats cause every car company knows there are a bunch of dumb americans that would like v8 engines so every car company is gonna do it... point is a V shape is never good.... its a V
@mageac all f 1 engines are v something..... wtf does that matter... goes ahead and put a ls7 in one of these said rails and go fuckin kill yourself lol nobody needs that much power in one of these, and racing behind my keyboard? and who cares if a ls7 has more hp/ per pound.. everyone knows that hondas are shitty stock.. u have to build them to be great
@mageac yeah but the ls7 price whise compared to how much this motor setup cost, is way cheaper! so honda wins in the money aspect and achieved the same thing! lol
@mageac v12? i6 is the most balanced configuration
2 together is still balanced
they're not less efficient either, you can gear a big v8 to get the same economy as a ford focus if you really want, but thats no fun (like, 1200rpm or less at 60mph sorta deal)
and space wise... most 4cyl engine bays have MORE than enough room to fit a v6 in. v6's are a ton more compact than a straight 6 (half the length, not much wider).. 4cyls are mounted E-W so are REALLY WIDE
@mageac if you still doubt the performance of honda the B18c has the fastest piston speed of any mass produced car engine (many crotch rockets are faster) = accelerates to its powerband faster and yes this may not be the norm you find in most of those ugly civics and accord rolling around your town and honda is not the first name that comes to mind when talking performance cars but the quality of hondas engineering is undeniable there is a reason for them being highest reselling vehicles.
@ghostcivic99 who is "we" people with loads of cash? Does every honda have a turbo? Does every honda have 800 horse power? Can you get 3000 hp out of a honda motor? Cause you can get it from a V8..
@glamisfanatic lol , as to "we" was talking about import lovers, and i only commented as to someone saying that honda motors are garbage.....which they are not, it would cost me less to build a 500-600hp honda motor than it would to build a v8 for the same price. Bang for your buck, i would go with the honda.... hell you can probly toss some of tha extra money towards gas! ;)
@glamisfanatic yeah, im talking about a custom turbo setup.. people are so stupid when it comes to these things. i can build a turbo setup for any car (except duel turbos) for about 1300-1400 bucks.... i know this cause i have done it. ^_^ just for starters a gsr motor cost around 2500(complete swap, tranny, motor linkage, wiring, etc.), and a turn key v8 these days cost between 4k-6k. and thats just for a fucking motor! then the tranny cost another 3k.... already it is showing the difference..
@ghostcivic99 lol turn key v8? who the fuck buys that? Rofl and like your transmission will hold u 600 hp with out doing anything to it, you can get a T56 out of a 4th gen camaro to hold up probably up to 500 + with out anywork.
@mageac this is true. but, let me as you this. was that motor carb'd or injected? ;) see this is the run with v8's if you dont have a injected on your guaranteeeeeed to get shitty gas milage. here is a list you would need jsut for price comparison GSR HEAD=$300(complete) MSD IGNITION COIL=$80 LS BLOCK= $100-$400 (depending where you get it) 9:1 comp weisco forged pistons stock bore 81mm $300, eagle rods $300 bucks, all equals 1380 if you went the cheap b-series motors way

pound per hp the ls7 is pretty much the same as an fc20....
which is the highest hp/liter n/a engine produced... stock obviously...
even the b16 weighs just a hair over 300 lbs... and makes less then 200 hp... the ls7 weighs 475-500 and makes over 500 hp...
about 30% more hp per pound stock for stock...
so when honda makes a v8 version it should weigh about 550 pounds and have 400 hp... impressive!

mageac 6 months ago
@mageac but.. they're not really
there's a reason they're at those specific angles, it's to keep it harmonically balanced.
flinchey 6 months ago
@flinchey yes, but twin, i4, v6 v8 i etc etc are not harmonically balanced, and cant be without a balance shaft.
crank weights take away the vibrations from piston movement, but add side to side vibrations
flat 4 engines are natrually balenced as well, but generally engines with more pistons in a straight line are easier to balance
