l0lz aww how sweet, no I'm just amazed by the art of saree draping, that's all really, n yea I am aware that the back end gets pulled over the head but that doesn't mean the front end can't be pulled over to the right side. n btw u might wanna check out styles like mermaid and rajashthani, I wonder what cute alternative ull come up with!
@shazh1994 yeah the front can be brought up..i've done that with my dupatta in the chaniya choli dupatta draping tutorials. It's like you say though, you can so creative with it .. and different to the norm. I like mermaid and I have that on my list to do..just can't decide which saree to use. I have a Rajesthani bride to do this year....can't wait!
I'm glad ur open to constructive criticism, show's how open minded you are :)
Unfortunately youtube won't let me link you but if you type in "How to Wear Gujarati Style Saree?" by the subscriber: utsavsarees, i think you'll know what I'm talking about. Another video is "How to drape Pochampally Ikat Sari Gujarati style, India" by subscriber: indiavideodotorg. Although she didn't do box pleats take a look at how the saree goes aaround her! But nevertheless ur styles are AMAZING
@shazh1994 hey, critiscism is a wonderful way to learn new things. I will keep this in my inbox and check out the links when I get a chance. Aww, thanks very much. I see you've researched a lot into draping. Are you interested in this personally or professionally?
U explained things well, and I'm not trying 2 offend u but it's not Gujerati, it's Gujarati n aren't u supposed 2 do box pleats where the pleats fall on both sides? n ur also suppose 2 cover ur back with the palla and pin it to the right side of the blouse, just a few things that went wrong. A saree correctly worn should cover most of a woman's body
@shazh1994 hi, no offense taken. I am Gujerati myself with my family who come from Porbander, Gujerat, and with all the Gujerati's I have met both professionally and personally have done it this way. I am curious as to the type you have seen. Have you got a link to a particular picture in the style you are describing so I can look into further...?
@shazh1994 I know what you mean now, but that is not Gujerati...It's either an alternative method of wearing it...but in my mind I think it comes from Punjab from the way they wear their dupatta...I could be wrong...but it's definately not gujerati. Traditionally the back that hangs that shows the back, would be pulled up and used to cover the heads...still is during prayers. Hope that helps : )
Wow, congrats on your video! It's the best. It's amazing and each step is very clear! Your sari is really beautiful! I'm looking forward to your next video! Thank you :)
@MehandiMehandi thanks a lot. I've recorded another video with tips and tricks and stay subbed for more saree draping step by step videos for different styles of saree draping.
If you wear the saree in usual way not the gujarati one, you will be putting the botton pleats the opposite way inside. The top pleats go back on your left shoulder so the bottom pleats also go the left side. Also I like the fact that you can show the saree detailing in this style but the bottom part looks really big even though I am a slim person. I love this style for north indian type sarees. But for silk and traditional wearing love the normal saree style. Do that one next time :-)
@satiffi yes if you wear the saree the other ways ie nivi style or ulta style or dakshini style then the pleats should go to the left side where the pallu is. Gujerati style can make you look bigger depending on the material, and the way my embroidery panels are on this particular saree makes the pleat fall a little out on the bottom so you are right there. it is big in the video.
Thank you so much Nisha for doing my request! I'm guju too (Kem Cho? lol)..so this really was great to see you drape the sari this way. I was confused about a few things..Is there a reason to start the sari tucked in so far to one side? I was taught to start tucking at the bellybutton..but your way looks better. How far to one side do you start? Also when you held the sari out to one side, is that how many pleats you make? Thanks again!! And if you can show other ways to drape would be great!
@DesiMakeupGrl aww, my cat has made a couple of appearances and I have a video on him on his own too. You'll find it from my channel. I think I called it Moggie something or the other.
I think you are overthinking the saree. I've never seen it put on from the middle. A Sareewala I know puts it on from the back so it doesn't matter where you start. I found I need to hold a little more so do an arm and a half's worth then start pleating. I will try to show others too. ; )
@DesiMakeupGrl If you tuck in from belly button, on to the right you pettycoat will see through thin sarees. I have seen many people wearing gujarathi sarees do that. I do the way nisha showed here.
That was really very well explained Nisha. I'm glad you pointed out that the correct way of draping saree in the Gujarati style, is to have the pleats facing the palloo, i.e. to one's right.
@ABridalArtist thats right. People tell me i'm doing it wrong and I feel like screaming "I'm a gujerati! I should know!" but really anyway works right lol
@mrsefmac Thats, no its quite cooling actually and the back is more or less open. Sometimes you can get a little too cold lol. The blouse is stunning. I have others which are backless and halter necks which are equally lovely.
