Fosters...It's Australian for Stove. I just watched Intenseangler's DIY vid on making a ring to secure the top. Fantastic also. Thanks for this Jim...Dash
I was trying so hard to find Heine cans while down south I totally forgot about the fosters. We don't have those up here either. Molson Canadian makes the same can as well. That was nice of Robbie to send you the ring. Seems like a great guy.You could wrap another layer of aluminum around it before wrapping it with wick :o) It will make less delicate :o)I'll try to get the wrap to ya soon my friend :o) Nice job, great vid!Have you found a lid for it yet?
@Ggreenvideos No rush on the wick Rich and thanks again for the offer. Lid? Yes, Robbie is supplying lids and he has sent me one. It's the one shown in the "Smokeeater908 Rollover Stove and Fosters Beer Can Pot" video /watch?v=vAjbW93eK3E
SE908 will sell the rings individually. Minibull Designs would not. At least when I asked. I believe in one of his videos, Tinny stated that each pot slightly differed, enough so that each ring needed to be fitted to each can.
c@wawhiker No Bill, the existing can top does not fit once the can has been cut down however; Smokeeater908 is planning to supply lids. Until I get one of those, that's my next adventure, scavenging a temporary lid for the pot. I did discover one of my coffee cup lids fits to use it as a drink mug but it's too tight a fit to use as a cook pot lid.
Ya might want to actually thank TInny for coming up with the ring, smokey bought a pot from him (QMH), copied the ring and is now selling it as his own. Just FYI. 8-]
@EconoChallenge Don’t know yet, but if I do, I'll wrap it with the same fiberglass tape (self stick drywall seam tape) and then superglue the ends to really secure it. I’ve used that on my Heineken pots and it works just fine. Cheap enough too. But… I may also just go with some kind of a pot grabber.
@EconoChallenge I've been useing 10-12 wraps of the drywall tape on my Heineken pots. At times I wish I had more wraps (still hot) but most times thats plenty. You can get the tape in 2" and 6" widths.
@Woodenarrows Take a gander at minibulldesign YouTube channel, there you will find that Tinny's designs were long before this fraud smokeeater. Smokeeater has plagiarized several of Tinny's products which are far better in quality than this fraud polesmoker908. Just a heads up!
@medicjimr I think the pot is gonna work just fine. I haven't had my followup visit with the doctor yet and I'm still swollen, stiff and sore but... I have taken myself off the pain meds. Did not want to become dependant on them. Will have my followup visit next Tuesday 10/25. Thanks for the comment.
Very cool. I have been following the concept for few years now.Since I do not drink beer or booze,,I did not know about about the hiny not around any more, so I did learn someting today... Thank You ....
@nchiker1971 It’s hard to beat the Heineken pots but since they are no longer available, we have to come up with something. This ring is one solution and as I mentioned in the video, it’s an easy fix to make another pot. There is another fellow modifying the Foster pots by pressing ridges in the sides. He’s calling it the Ridgeline Pot. It looks like an interesting alternative too but would not be an easy replacement like this setup will be.
Really good review and how-to video! Thanks for sharing the info and idea. Smokeeater's been doing some good stuff. Been watching him for awhile. Had a problem with the YouTube link over the weekend but seems to be OK now. Weird ... it unsubscribed me for a couple days ... go figure.
@RallohE Thanks for the comment Hawkeye. I think the Fosters can is a useable option to the Heineken pot. Youtube has been flaky for me too. I also had it unsubscribe me from a few users and lately it seems really difficult to catch new videos posted by the users to whom I'm subscribed.
@Woodenarrows Yeah YT is getting weird ... one of Smokeeater's videos about hanging in the hammock won't fall out of my unwatched subscriber list ... even though I've watched it several times. Oh well ...
Heineken keg cans are all over maryland

@mrriprock2 Yes, John came up with a pretty slick idea for a Fosters beer can ring.

well that seemed really easy to do! I have the 908 pot with the ring. Good how to video of what to do if the pot craps out on me. Good job!

Beauttiful job getting that ring on Jim. That was nice of your friend smokeeater sending you the ring. Does the lid fit on the top with the ring?

Jim sorry your catching crap from these fools, but me and you both know why you have a ring from me. 8-]

@smokeeater908 Yes, I ask Tinny first for the smaller Fosters pot. He said he was not going to supply them. Thanks for the followup.

@Woodenarrows I like the pot wrap idea right up to the clean up. The wrap I have takes forever to dry out! (fireplace gasket)
