Read the book written by Jan Modersitzki - Numerical Methods for Image Registration. It covers both parametric and non-parametric methods with special emphasis on medical imaging. Otherwise there are thousands of papers written on this topic and its hard to determine which methods work (& their app. area) & which don't. These electrical & computer engineering courses discuss very few algorithmic techniques. Their emphasis is on the electro-optical aspects of image processing and not mathematics.
