  • Catholics better get it together in 2010 and 2012 and actually pay attention to stuff like this. If ALL Catholics - including Catholic politicians - voted pro-life LIKE THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO there would be no abortion in America.

  • I'm not exactly sure what I believe about abortion.

But, I do know that this advertisement is brilliant, clever, well thought-out, and effective.

    Way to go Catholic Vote!

  • CATHOLICS COMPLETELY PRO LIFE.

  • I am completely pro-choice and still am after seeing this video but I give credit where credit is due, this is a great ad and very well thought out.

  • @clarkni05 , im pro-choice, too. A woman can choose contraception before having sex, or abstinence or even giving a child up for adoption

  • This ad wasn't aired on the Super Bowl or TV because Satan has control of the media!

  • This is a great ad.

Abortion is MURDER and needs to be outlawed.

  • THE OBAMA INVITATION AKA THE NOTRE DAME SCANDAL: Thanks to Brian for his email on this. I was outraged when I heard about the invitation AND the honorary degree they are giving Mr. Obama - I even called Father Jenkins and expressed my feelings - that's I'd be there protesting on on 05/17/09. But Brian's email cooled the rage. I'll still be there - at the Grotto - but this time to pray. I encourage others to do the same.- let's have a huge turnout for this. That's be a real statement.

  • I love how they used Obama as an example even though he's pro-choice. lol.

  • Using Obama was the perfect example...It proves how wrong he actually is since his story is a main reason why abortions occur in the first place. He is living proof that his own beliefs are wrong!

  • My mother had the right to choose, and had she chosen not to have me I wouldn't have been caused the slightest bit of inconvenience.

She gave up her career, relationships, body, and most everything a single, loving parent can possibly possess for me. I would never ask that of anybody, let alone demand it.

There is no controversy in the fact that greatness stems from love and determination. Why then do we continue to think that popping out every embryo is an act of great morality?

  • It sounds to me that you somehow have been made to feel guilty about your existence. Your entire statement is grounded in self loathing. You have been influenced to view yourself as a burden. It has always been my theory that abortion has been rationalized in society through individual self-loathing and/or selfishness. Your example is the most prominent confirmation of my theory that I have ever seen to date. Have you sought counseling about such feelings? I'm worried for you.

  • On the contrary.

I draw great strength from the fact that not only did I come into this existence because someone chose it, but also because they cared enough to sacrifice what they had so that I would have a chance at life. The only way I might feel (wrongly) guilty would be if someone had forced me into existence, regardless of the fact that they were violating a woman's freedom.

My mother and I had too close and loving a relationship for me to consider myself a burden.

  • That is where we differ. The choice is who do you place first in the right to "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness"? Notice life comes before liberty (freedom). I place the life of the unborn baby first and foremost. Also, the CHOICE to bring you into the world occurred at the consensual moment of intercourse. Is that not enough??? Lastly, with the introduction of the morning after pill, abortion is obsolete except in rare instances where the pregnancy threatens the life of the mother.

  • While it is certainly true that life is essential to liberty, I think people as a whole need to review their definition of living. Most seem to too easily forget that the whole purpose is not life in itself, but what you can achieve with it. After all, what most of us spend our entire life doing is trying to find the meaning in it all.

There is no meaning in thousands of children being churned out through foster homes. One's person's greatness does not justify ninety-nine thousand's suffering.

  • I don't think it right for you to judge anyone who's life you may find difficult. It is for them to decide, not you. Downs Syndrome is very often a reason people choose to abort a pregnancy. However, a scientific study was performed on those afflicted with Downs...Each and every one of the Downs Syndrome participants said that they were happy with their life and did not want to die. Foster Home kids likely are the same. However, it is historical fact that Adolf Hitler agrees with your ideology.

  • ...You cannot have a chance at a better life if you are not alive.

  • It's that kind of reasoning that would justify scientists continuously growing millions of babies in jars and unleashing them onto the world. Just think of the endless DNA combinations being cruelly denied the chance at life! If we can make em', it's a crime not work our fingers to the bone doing it. So what if there aren't enough responsible parent's to take care of them? So what if they starve to death? So what if the only inhabitable planet we know of turns into a boiling sea of gas and rock?

  • After all, there is always a chance at a better life when your species is extinct and you planet uninhabitable.

  • If you must base your decisions on "what if", it is better to base it on a positive "what if" (like having the baby), than a negative "what if". However, I give little credence to someone projecting their own negativity onto someone else's life and whether they have a right to it. Once again, that is exactly what you are doing. You are painting the life of another before they've ever had an opportunity to fulfill it.

  • dude get your morals set straight

  • True. To think the Groningen Protocol exists to kill those who are 'inconvient or costly' to the so-called 'humanists without humanity'.

Also, though not a fan of Obama, even his mother had him in a time when it was taboo... i'm sure it would have been easy to 'get it taken care of', yet she gave him life. Regardless if she travelled around and didn't spend much time with him (rest her soul), he had his grandparents and look at the opportunities that came from it.

  • haha your so stupid, the church promotes life, an opportunity to make something of yourself as opposed to being sucked out of your moms stomach and ripped into pieces, overpopulation is not the problem, the problem is people not taking responsibility for their actions, you want to stop having babies? USE A CONDOM RETARD

  • wow i love how so many comments on here are just bashing Christians? They're doing what they believe in and shouldn't be persecuted for that. And anti-choice isn't anti-woman. In most cases they made the choice, the baby didn't choose to be concepted it's innocent and has every right to stay alive.

  • A ridiculous fiction. Anti-choice is anti-woman. The Catholic church promotes overpopulation while claiming to help the poor.

  • are people statistics to you?

  • You are ridiculous. You promote people having sex, getting pregnant, then killing the child. Saying we promote overpopulation is like me saying you promote the end of having children and just to kill them.

You don't stand for that do you?

  • Beyond abortion, the Catholic Church is opposed to birth control and condoms. So yes, it promotes overpopulation and the increase in AIDS. It's utterly sick.

  • The Catholic Church promotes chastity, and the dignity of men and women . . . not AIDS.

  • It's only compelling because it's overly dramatic. Christians are some of the biggest hypocrits out there. They've done so many horrible things in the name of their religion throughout history, but they continue to act like they have the moral high ground. This video may be clever, but that's all it is (and for the record, cleverness was usually seen as a negative attribute in God's eyes).

  • my friend, don't be so silly.

the reason the church exists is because we sin. obviously if we are without sin we do not need God.

but yeah, nobody is perfect. The church has made many mistakes, but they are not God's mistakes. They are people.

So yeah, don't be so hateful or prejudice. The Church exists for sinners like me. I am nothing without forgiveness and redemption.

  • even as a person not strictly in either side.. that was pretty compelling.

  • If you plant a field of strawberries and 99.9% are rotten, and one looks good in a bowl of corn flakes, does it justify 54 trillion in debt?

  • What a great reminder of the potential of all human life. 24 years ago, I was 19, single and pregnant. With the help of my parents, I had a beautiful son that has brought great joy to me and my whole family. I cannot image this world without him. I know many women who regret abortions, I know of none that regret giving life.

  • I left the Catholic Church several years ago and am a strong Word of Faith Christian. This video depicting the sanctity of life is absolutely brilliant. If Obama's mother had made the choice to abort her son we would never have had the privilege of seeing history in the making. My life will never be the same. Although I was in the very early stages, through this procedure I felt my child being torn away from my womb....my child....God's child...a life never to be lived. I am truly sorry.

  • No matter the reason, abortion kills the innocent.

Who can call on Jesus as Lord and Savior and believe otherwise?

  • wait, so, is abortion good or bad? It kind of depends on whether or not you think obama is a good president doesn't it?

  • The point of the video wasn't so much to say it's good or bad, but rather to slap Obama in the face.

  • That makes sense.

  • no..ones opinion of obama really has nothing to do with it

abortion is bad. 100% bad. there is no legitimate reason for it. and obama has no right calling himself a christian if he supports the slaughter of babies. "Before you were in the womb, I knew you"

  • then i must really hate catholic votes if it's from catholic votes

  • Ironic that you will appropriate Pres. Obama's popularity and image to advocate a narrow agenda, but no doubt will criticize him loudly for his pro-choice views. BTW, you do know, right, that Catholics (speaking as one) vote on QUITE A BIT more than the abortion issue -- in fact for most modern Catholics, abortion is not the top issue. You do know that, right? So "The Catholic Vote" appears to be a bit too broad of a name for you. Perhaps you should call yourselves "The Abortion Vote."

  • abortion sucks MORE then liberals

  • Agreed

  • The reason there is sin in this world is

because of the evil in this world. People

are turning away from God and when you

turn away from God you in turn, turn to darkness which is the devil which promotes hate, sin, etc.... I wish you could

experience how much God loves you. He is waiting with open arms for all of us to go to him. He is a merciful God and forgives us for our sins if we are truly sorry.

  • So many people die each day because no one cares. If you people just focused you attention on the living you could make a real difference and live as your god tells you. But no you wast so much time trying to bring more and more people into this over populated planet. The hypocrisy in your views are unbelievable.

Adopt one of the millions already here. Cure a disease. Feed the hungry. Help people in need. Don't force your twisted views on people faced with a choice!

    God help you people, learn

  • The reason there is hate and neglect is because of the sin in this world. God allows sin and misfortune but He doesn't cause it - an important distinction. If people don't care it's not because God doesn't care, it's because people aren't perfect (they are sinful). If this world were perfect, there would never be hate, neglect, miscarriages, or abortions. When you mock something you obviously don't understand (faith/Christianity) it makes you look closed-minded.

  • omgwtfbbq06, I agree! Too many people die each day b/c nobody cares. We need to focus on the living and help those in need...but I don't get how that relates to abortion. Which kids shouldn't have made it? Why not just get rid of them now before they eat too much or use too much of our world resources?

This video does a fantastic job of illustrating that everyone deserves a chance. Maybe cancer should've been cured long ago, but that person wasn't given a chance.

  • I love this video. It goes right to the point of abortion: you are killing people, and people is always valuable, irrespective of the difficulties and problems anyone can find at life. It's really amazing. I find unacceptable that it was censored at the Superbowl.

  • Listen all of you, i am pro life personally, i would never have my wife commit an abortion. But I cannot tell another woman that she MUST have a baby. I simply don't feel right telling her what to do. It's her body not mine, and it's not my job to decide whether commiting and abortion is murder or not, because I am not the one that has to raise the kid or go through the pain of birth,

  • Abortion is murder, and you CAN tell someone else not to commit murder

  • the problem is when do you consider it murder? If a woman gets pregnant and the very next day she gets an abortion, I don't consider it murder, but you do.

  • AAGuitar123, are you talking about the morning after pill? If you're going to get an abortion you have to be comfortable with the idea that you're having something that shares your genetic code removed from your body...whether it's 1 day into your pregnancy or 8 months....same DNA. The hair and eye color - decided! Sex of baby - decided! A heartbeat can be detected at around 22 days after conception. The earliest you can get a surgical abortion is 6 weeks (42 days).

  • Whoever said that miscarriages were abortions from God is probably the most unintelligent, mentally challenged person alive. Do you ever wonder what life would be like if you'd had enough oxygen at birth? At any rate, based off what you said, you obviously have no knowledge of christianity and to bring something like that into a comment makes you look even more stupid. Don't get me wrong I'd like to see things from your point of view but I can't seem to get my head that far up my ass.

  • Miscarriages are to abortion as natural death is to murder. Just because natural death occurs doesn't mean it's ok to murder. Likewise, just because miscarriages occur doesn't mean it's ok to induce abortion.

  • So let me get this straight. If you kill a very bad, extremely harmful person, you go to jail for murder. But if you execute an, innocent, harmless baby, via scissors to the back of the neck, nothing happens. Oh, I get it now! For a second there I thought that seemed a little unfair. Silly me...

  • Al this ad shows is that people (like the president) start out in the womb. Great job.

Dont act like life is sacred at birth if you don't even honer it enough to keep it precious after birth.

    Stop: War, Famine, Disease

if you forget about those who are alive then what happens when you get hundreds of thousands of unwanted babies that this earth cant sustain?

    Read a book, grow up

Pro-Choice because its a god given right!

  • actually abortion is not a God-given right. Commandment number 5: Thou shalt not kill. so abortion is pretty much a God-given restriction.

and there is no such thing as an unwanted baby..just unplanned. idc what you may think SOMEONE out there wants that baby more than anything and those aborting it are beyond selfish

  • This ad shows that all life (including that of our president) starts in the womb. It goes a step farther at the beginning of the ad and talks about his stats. It really didn't make sense for him to be brought into this world, did it? How many just like him were aborted? Yet look at what he's achieved. I don't agree with his view on abortion, but I'm thankful his mother chose life.

  • I think the simplicity and stark truth of this advertisement speak volumes about the truth. Why else would so many of you get all worked up over it, if it didnt speak the truth?

  • Obama is pro choice

  • Very nicely done.

  • nuke the vatican, or better yet, turn it into a disco where they host gay orgies and drink the blood of fetuses. yeah, that sounds about what;s needed.

  • Which side are you on? You just made the pro-abortionists sound, well, stupid. Your intent?

  • There are 2 things that doesn't hold water in all their pro-choice reasoning:

1.) When the pro choice decide to keep a child they created, it's a child from the second they see the blue stripe on their at home pregnancy kit. But it's not a precious, beautiful life worth keeping if they don't want it. 2.) There have been more deaths from abortion than war. The people going to war are of voting age and decide the danger for themselves, the lives chosen aborted have no choice.

  • This is the Super Bowl ad pulled from the lineup?

  • just a little thought for anyone pro-choice.....you say its a woman's right to decide whether she wants her child, its her choice and the government shouldn't take this choice away. Well murdering is a choice as well, should the government say that its your choice if you want to kill someone and it be legal? abortion is still murder, whether you want to believe it or not.

  • NBC just decided not to show this as a paid advertisement during the Superbowl because it's too "political" can you believe that???

  • It has nothing to do with being too political. It has everything to to with being too conservative. I'd put money on it that they will once again show advertisments that promote the homosexual agenda. It's kinda like how the media swore Obama could do no wrong.

  • The question isn't "Whether abortion is right or wrong" its "Whether the government can take away the choice of the woman and family in having an abortion." Personally I think abortion is a despicable act, and would never choose that over the life of my own child.

But I do not believe that the government has the right to take that choice away. Government taking away choices from the people is still unjust, no matter how disgusting the act they are trying to prevent.

  • edit: as long as that choice doesn't harm another person. But I guess every pro-life advocate already believes that a fetus is still a person, so.....

  • "'edit: as long as that choice doesn't harm another person. But I guess every pro-life advocate already believes that a fetus is still a person, so..... ""

Ding! Ding! Ding!! Right on the nose!

    That's exactly why.

  • Seems like you came to a logical and thoughtful conclusion there! God Bless YOU!

  • But don't despicable public acts hurt other people? Maybe not physically, but people can be hurt in other ways as well...

  • i love this ad. it has a positive, inspiring message for everyone. it's completely nonpartisan

  • You know, I don't understand how people in this world thinks that it is okay to kill babies by having an abortion. It is a mortal sin and you will have to deal with God in eternity for this sin. The devil is on the rampage in this world and he is out to

get everyone anyway he can and uses this

to get to people. Please if you are pregnant and you don't want this baby please choose adoption. I have 2 sisters

who have adopted children and they are

very much loved by our family.

  • What if Hitler was aborted? Oh wait, then who'd do God's work?

  • Ya..."God's" work. Hitler was in the occult. His actions were definitely not from the one true God.

  • If Hitler had been aborted 6 million jews would have been saved, but if abortion were non-existent 42 million (according to the Center for Bioethical Reform) babies a year would be saved. I don't know, you do the math.

  • We can do population control without aborting fetuses. And I agree, we most certainly should. This shouldn't be a taboo topic. And I think the Catholic Church needs to change its stance on birth control.

  • Are you kidding? How about ship out the people that are here illeagally. That is much better answer then killing babies.

  • We become human at conception. Birth Control blocks God's hand. Do you have a brother or a sister, or a best friend? If your parents or their parents would have used "birth control" they would be alive. Imagine if those people you love would have never been alive.

  • Imagine how horrendously overpopulated the world would be by that logic. Birth control isn't like you're killing children. It's preventing anything from happening to begin with. This "human at conception" thing is in your opinion, which you really can't force on other people. This country isn't based on God, it's based on freedom of religion, and that means that not everyone has to conform to your beliefs.

  • I love the Catholic Charities. They helped me give a child for adoption when I was 15. I met my daughter when she was 21 and we are now friends and I am part of her life and the lives of her 4 kids. I wish this commercial could be aired - it is excellent on so many levels!

  • Or stop being irresponsible and take responsibility for your actions. If you want to have sex, thats your choice, but you should do it knowing it may have consequences.

  • I should probably say that Hitler's mother was advised to have an abortion but she declined.

If you don't trust me with a choice, how can you trust me with a child?

  • How does rape trump murder, minion?

  • All time worst catch phrase ever. How about we don't trust you with either, therefore adoption is a perfectly viable option.

  • This video gives me chills every time i watch it.. open your eyes Obama.. murder is NOT a choice

  • Bravo...makes you wonder how he can support abortion period! Though he supports partial birth abortion. That isn't change I can believe in!

  • What if you were raped?

  • The baby would be innocent. The baby is not guilty in the case of rape. Punishing the baby with a death centence doesn't make fit does it?

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • To imply that an abortion fixes a rape situation cheapens the experience and is incredibly insensitive. I hope it becomes politically incorrect to put that arguement out there at some point.

  • I didn't say that it would fix things. But it's justified all the same. Psychologically many people would not be able to carry a baby to full-term if they were raped. With a child growing inside you as a direct result would impede progress emotionally after that kind of event. And political correctness is over-rated. I think it's a very valid point either way. It's always all about perspective. We all need to respect people's choices. We can't say what's right about anyone but ourselves.

  • Choice? Chosing to ignore the fact that you're ending a life - that's science, not emotion talking.

  • I realize rape is a very hard thing to deal with and you probably would not want anthing to remind you of it even a baby. But you have to realize that this is not this

childs or your fault but instead of having an abortion just please give it up for adoption. God has a plan for this baby and for you better than you could even imagine. Just trust him with all your heart

    and believe.

  • Do you have any idea how much prenatal care costs? And when you're a mother who has absolutely no money at all? Abortions are cheap compared to that. It's either the mother lives, or they both die in that sort of situation.

  • Yes I do know how much prenatal care cost are, I have 4 children and come from a family of 8 children and a single mom and grew up at times when we did not know from one day to the next where our food was coming from but with my mom's faith in God and her determination

to make it we made it. If there is a will there is a way. There are alot of programs

out there to help pregnant moms. Abortion is an easy way out.

  • I think it's irresponsible to bring a child into the world that you cannot afford the prenatal care and the potential life after the birth. I believe that's utterly unethical and hurts so many more people than it helps.

  • All I have left to say is What if your mom

would have aborted you how would you feel about her decision and not to mention that it is a mortal sin. If everyone treated sex like God intended it to be there would be not problem at all.

  • But it's YOUR OPINION that it is a mortal sin, yes? If you have it your way, nobody can get an abortion under normal circumstances, thus imposing your viewpoint on absolutely everyone in the country. If we end up legalizing abortion, nobody will come force you to have an abortion, it's your choice to have as many kids as you want (and I think it's great that you do). But then nobody will have a CHOICE. They'd be constrained by a religion that might not even be their own.

  • Whether you believe in God or not really isn't the point. Killing is wrong.

  • It's not a matter of religion. If there's even a chance that human life begins at conception then we have to admit that we may be killing an innocent human being. How can anyone justify killing an innocent child? (That thought came to me as a young teenager, long before I heard what any church taught.)

  • If god is all powerful then the people who are meant to live will.

What is a miscarriage but an abortion from god?

  • There are different reasons why people have miscarriages, I have had 2 of them, but to say that they are abortions from God

is a horrible thing to say. He is all loving and all powerful and loves each and everyone of us more than we could ever know and we need to turn to him in times of need.

  • You hypocritical fools! If god is all loving then why is the world filled with hate. Why would miscarriages happen? you have answers when convenient for your arguments but in reality your all just lost, simple and naive

  • So you are all-knowing? You can tell whether or not some events will result in evil or in good in, say, 1000 years? I really don't think we have the knowledge to judge the eventual outcome of the lives we're living. That's why, in order not to be lost, etc, we must spend our lives searching for meaning. What better answer than the traditional teachings about God's nature. Once we accept that He is all-loving then we can try to incorrporate what we see around us in that framework.

  • are you kidding me?

thats like saying "what is cancer but God's weapon of choice?" i strongly encourage that you rethink that statement

  • then put it up for adoption or give to some family members or something... but don't just kill the baby.

but then again I don't know much about the possible situations that pepople get themselves in.

    whatever.

  • Seriously....now you're sounding like Nancy Pelosi with the whole abortions are cheaper than the cost of caring for children talk. Do you know how many govt programs there are for women who find themselves pgt and w/o money? Not to mention the millions of churches and non-profits who gladly help women daily...ppl don't starve to death here and it's not about money; it's a question of ethics. We're talking about a human with DNA and a heartbeat. That's scientific fact, not opinion.

  • Some (not me) might argue that even that is opinion. They might argue that it's a *potential* human. I want to clarify that I'm not pro-abortion, just pro-choice. In a perfect world it would not have to happen, but it will anyway. It's better to legalize and regulate than it is to have women have back-alley abortions and die from that, thus eliminating two lives.

  • It's laughable to have a "live and let live" mentality about this issue - no pun intended...abortion is being forced on those who agree and disagree with it in the way of public funding. Planned Parenthood gets a portion of my tax dollars whether I like it or not. Talk about having something crammed down your throat. Countless other charities and businesses that we all use everyday give money to Planned Parenthood too. If you are opposed to abortion, find out who they are and boycott!

  • Haha, I'm pro-life, not anti-abortion, who cares?

  • I care.

  • Thank you, Jane thats what I'm talking about. When there is a will, there is a way. It is a question of ethics. Its fact not

opinion that this is a human life.

  • amazingly powerful.....Christians are an amazing people

  • Nice, nice/

  • Wow i like the way you say idiot.

  • I am in tears. Anyone who is not moved by this, or doesn't think twice if their pro abortion, truly has no empathy for anyone but themselves.

  • Repent and believe.

  • Epic.

  • I know God has a plan for EVERY person's life; when that life is taken away by abortion, the good that would have been done by THAT person is now lost. I am NOT a supporter of Obama, but there is a reason why God allowed him to be president of the greatest nation in the world, The Unted States of America. His life has a meaning, and God has a plan for him, just as He does for EVERYONE!

  • Awesome. Truly, completely awesome.

  • Lucky for you your mother didn't feel that way!

  • I am not a Catholic or what most people would call a social conservative. I do not believe that the government should be in the bedroom.

However, even though she knew the birth might be dangerous for her after serious problems trying to give several previous births, my mother chose to have me. May God bless her.

  • God did bless her with a great person as her child. God bless YOU!

  • Respectfully, as you ask yourself when life begins, and ponder, for instance, whether government - or murder - belongs in the bedroom, take some time if you can to look at images and videos of abortion procedures and aborted babies. You might change your opinion about protecting the unborn.

  • Yes, this will reach millions.. and yet you have to remember MILLIONS knew prior to voting for him his thinking on this subject..."beyond his pay scale?" I am pleased the Catholic Church is standing behind their belief that every child has a right to life.. The issue now is - will government 'force' the hospitals to perform abortions or not have any funding? Americans need to have a voice in this - and let it be heard.

I'm glad my mother chose not to throw my sis or myself away...

  • Spectacular...

  • I was raped when I was 14 - the Catholic Charites helped me to give the child to a good home. The child was NOT at fault - I did not want to punish the child. The family that took her could not have children and were ecstatic.

  • I am inspired by you. Thanks for sharing this story.

  • Thank you so much. I am a new user and you are the first to talk to me. I appreciate your kind words.

  • Brillant and the pro-choice folk cannot argue with this one. I believe that when we stand before God, He will tell us that he sent a cure for AIDS and breast cancer but a mother destroyed that researcher while in the womb. God forgive us.

  • awesome and sad to think of all the babies aborted! the potential of human life is so great.

  • This will make people rethink their views on abortion. Every life is a human being and is full of potential.

  • yeah...i think its awesome too

  • dude seriously ...that's awesome
