No it is a flat bottom high wing stable plane. Enjoyable because of it's size. Other than that, I use it specifically to take aerial pictures. I am persuing an amateur radio operator license so I can downlink video from it, so it is a purpose driven aircraft.
Do you have any other gripes against the Saito 180 other than the cost of glow vs gas or the goo mess?
Gas has the edge pricewise but I don't like dealing with the gasoline stink. The raw power in your video of that Saito pullin the plane like a rocket on takeoff is something I want.
Interested to hear your perspectiveon this. Very serioulsy considering this plane for purchase.
The Saito 1.8 is a fantastic engine. I had it in a Great Planes Extra 300s prior to this plane. It would hover at about one third throttle. Huge power, excellent throttle response. I do run a RAM onboard glow unit to make sure it does not stall out at low rpm. Other thant that, this Saito is one of the finest engines I have had. I also have several smaller Saito four strokes (1.00, .56) and they are all great. Reliable and strong.
That plane is a floater. Will land very slow. My area behind my house from this video is uphill, so it makes it land within 50 feet. On a flat runway approach it needs more room.
I have a 32 oz tank in it. pretty large tank to give extended flight times. I hope to converty to gas (zenoah) this winter to eliminate the nitro oil residue...
Nice combination I wanted to order the Blue ARf Rascal but they seem to be backordered... must be a good plane. not a whole lot of ARFS in that size....
Wow i love the landscape. is this a club field?

Thank you very much. This is not a club field, it is my backyard... I am one lucky RC pilot...

Let me know if you want to sell the Saito 180 I'll give you top dollar for it

Thanks, but I will continue to fly this reliable engine as long as possible.

Should be good for that.
The surrounding landscape in the video reminds me of either Eastern Mass or the NY/Conn part of the Berkshires. Looks like a perfect place to fly

You got the location right!

What do you enjoy most about flying the Rascal? Does not sound like a 3d plane...?
