I wouldnt be talking too much shit about the ACU. People say it doesnt blend into nothing. Well look back in 2003 when we first invaded iraq. We had marines wearing green BDUs with tan helmets in the desert. WTF? And the ACU does actually blend to some things or the army wouldnt use them

@FtexasOU1 Citing the idiotic marines is no justification for anything--the only reason why they have MARPAT Desert is because they copied the Canadian camouflage pattern to try to stay ahead of the U.S. Army in terms of military fashion.

Wear it insideout? For a pattern of camo that is called "All Terrain" it should work better then that! But there´s nothing like 1 camo for all enviroments!What they should do is bring back the old 3-color-pattern for the desert and wear sth like the Marpat woodland for forests and jungles!Wearing that ACU they might as well hang a target on their chest saying: Shoot here!Dont get me wrong!No offenses! I just think they should take better care of those who are risking their asses for the country!

I think acu was meant for desert and urban, while dcu is more environment specific. It would be prudent to have small pouches on the outermost layer with the eguivalent of guilli suit material so you can have some pouches that help ya hide in woodland and others that help ya hide in grasslands.

MC always works , when i went overseas for a Private military company in colombia i used MC , i was so blended in , it was in a woodland area of coruse , UCP is junk it never works anywhere.

the acu really works in the shade. I like it because it kept me cooler in the summer than the bdu summer uniform.

That sounds like a function of the MATERIAL of the ACUPAT ACU not its camouflage pattern.

he is saying that the ACU is not effective in Desert Terrain, the Desert MARPAT Digi Camo is best suited for the terrian. There are other camos out there that are not digi camo that are also suited for it as well. ACU in Woodland and Urban has better chances to be more effective but in a desert area, well start praying.

ACU is a uniform (hence the U for uniform). The pattern is called Universal Digital Camouflage Pattern and is a first response pattern for an unknown enviroment. The army should have follow up patterns when the enviroment is known.

@Ebsil0n Haha, the biggest joke is that ACU WAS tested and scored in the bottom 2 out of the 4 patterns tested. It was only fielded to keep up with the futuristic digital patterns. Just google U.S. Army universal camouflage trials. lol

I've found rubbing dirt on acu will get it to blend in. I'm in ga and using clay dirt so I'm not sure as to the effectiveness of doing that with other dirts.

Wearing uniforms inside-out is an old USMC trick a remembrance of when we used to have brown-side out and green-side out uniforms when common sense adult draftees were in the ranks.
