I lived in West Virginia where I grew up for awhile but after I went off to Massachusetts I found it depressing as nothing ever got fixed in West Virginia. Trying to make things better just seemed so useless. I am somewhat happier in California which has drawbacks but here things get fixed.
You truly live in one of the most beautiful areas in the country, and I've been a lot of places. The mountains of Kentucky are truly an amazing sight. I'm from PA, and have always liked that KY is like PA in so many good ways, and better in some. I'm glad you truly appreciate the beauty of your home.
@FirstBornSunBand I'm from PA too!!! Why do you think they call it Pennsyltucky. I live in West Virginia now, up in the northern part of the state. Either way, wherever you are in the mountains is beautiful...whether its PA, WV, KY, Vermont...it doesn't matter. Ever been to an area where it's flat???? I think it's depressing....
i have a battle buddy name herbie joe james daniel champlain he served with me in the army he from pineville i saw a town called wallsend and he told me about blue people and the hollers where its very dangerous to mistakenly get lost i wanna know is it tru and he tole me about there is a rock with a chain tied to another rock on another hill i was fascinated he told me he lives in the woods which i kinda believe cause he aint gota phone and he uses coal i wanna know more
@chochamsprime When I was in Harlen, it was understood that you DON'T go wandering...people will shoot you without question, because of stills, meth labs, and pot patches. Not to mention trespassing in general
Does anyone else see a face in the trees in this video when it gets to around 1 minute? I saw it, kinda freaky. It is beauiful scenery. Alot better than living in the city.
I could just sit and listen to the sounds in those hills for hours, the birds & crickets and everything.I hope ya'll know how lucky you are that you live in those hills.I miss those mountains real bad.My ancestors settled the hills in Letcher and Breathitt many moons ago.Roots run deep down in there.
@lilnursie hahahaha...I'm so glad you have a good and healthy sense of humor! :) You sure have a pretty place to call home! And you're sooooo lucky to have family all close by. That's something us "big city folks" have lost touch with. As long as we have our cell phones and Facebook "all is well with the world" if we can chat with people (without ever having to see anybody, mind you) at least once a week or even once a frigging month.
@scumgod13 If I go film an update to this video which I might. you will see a lot of junk in the yard because during a huge snow storm last winter a tree fell on top of our storage building so the side yard is full of junk at the moment.
Does it snow where you are? I assume it does lol.. My grandpa was from Appalachia. I know that poverty there is a real problem, but it is such beautiful country and the culture is beautiful too. I wish Oklahoma was more like Appalachia.
Love your video. I wish I had a closer look at the well with the flowers. I really like that. It is nice to live around so many family members. Always a place to visit if you get bored.
You have a nice home, similiar scenery to where I live in West Virginia. Fortunately for you, it doesn't look like coal companies have filled your holler with toxic sludge that they produce when the surface mine coal. Where I live in Logan, WV, there are sludge dams and poisoned creeks and huge valleys filled with toxis waste - where there used to be hollers and streams and cliffs. I'm pleased to see an untouched holler. Pray for us in WV because our mountains are being raped.
@SWDavis0104 I live in Clarksburg, WV..just moved here, grew up in northeast PA, the coal region. And it's all messed up there too. My father's family is from Logan, WV and I've been down there and have seen how messed up it is....same way in the coal region of Northeast PA where I'm from. You're absolutely right, we are raping our mother earth, and we will all pay for it someday.
Hello There!!! I'm familiar with Pike County, KY. Our farm is Burkesville, KY. I've posted some videos of our farm. Your place looks very similar... the landscape.. Up in the Holler!!
I am in and from California and have to say you have alot to be proud of. Its beautiful were you live. I like that little rascals name "Hunter" I like the way he talks. Private fish pond! How many kids in L.A. can say that? Lucky kid you. I bet moms makes some great biscuits and gravy. I wish I could come and even get a chance to have some goood old cornbread. Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven.
It looks beautiful there. You have a lot of nature to look at. I live in an area were developers tear down trees and put in cement and commercial buildings that sit empty because the economy is collapsing.
