  • which part has "we are the republic"?

  • WOAH. Anthony Perkins. Look at dat hat. xDDD I can't say I like this version better than the 1998 version, but I certainly do like this Javert.

  • Javert looks nice :3

  • I love this movie. I have to say i prefer this Javert to the one in the 1998 version :D

  • What is wrong with the film?? Why is it all choppy?

  • y is it so skippy? the vid keeps skipping

  • I love this movie and Anthony Perkins is made of awesomesauce...but...THE Rs!! He overemphasizes his R's and it drives me NUTS!! *headdesk*

  • i love javert lol he's awsome, and this is a very good movie

  • what version is this?

  • I find this Fantine quite believable instead.

If you thought all prostitutes (in 1815 AND in 2009) looked like pin ups, gentlemen, then you must have lived quite a sheltered life. Good for you.

As for Les Miserables being a Russian novel...goodness, are they still teaching something in school?

  • Its by french actors and its in setting is France, and by French writer Victor Hugo in the Enlightenment period, when writing was greatest

  • i disagree with the way they depicted Fantine here. I know in the novel she sold her hair, front teeth, then her body but I think there still should be traces of beauty left. In the novel, the reason she got into a scuffle with a man was because she refused to "service" him. I doubt that any man would demand "service" from this kind of Fantine, unless this was considered beautiful during those times. The fact that Fantine even became a prostitute tells me that there's still some beauty left.

  • I agree completely :)

  • ur right , but in the movie she scuffelewd because they bothered her and they put ice and shti in her dress

  • That's not what happened in the novel. The man did NOT try to get "serviced, he shoved snow down the back of her dress as a mean-spirited prank, as he and his friends had been mocking Fantine over how ugly she looked.

  • yout got a point... but I still disagree with you. Maybe in the modern day no man would want to be serviced by someone concidered ugly. Though in the old days more sexual abuse was present and most really didn't care how the woman looks so long as she pleases the man (if that makes sense). I really think this portrayl of her is perfect because it highlights even more of the theme of cruelty.

  • How these men even if she was unattractive still took advantage of her low class and sexually harassed her. They did it out of pure entertainment and the fact that they just "can".

  • @blackviper88 No in the novel she got into a scuffle with a man because he put snow down her dress. In the musical she gets into a scuffle because she refuses to service him and she remains partly beautiful in the musical because she doesn't sell her teeth. This film is based on the novel where by this point she has lost all dignity and beauty

  • is that fantine?

  • wow Val Jean has truly become a dignified man!!

  • I think they did a great job, instead:in the other movies they made a "rose-water" Fabtine:the truth is that from the beautiful girl she was,she became as it's shown in this scenes:skinny, her hair cut and her teeth sold to support Cosette.

  • ooh...Anthony Perkins really does a great job portraying Javert's cold unfliching attitude!

  • *glomps Javert and steals his sexay coat*

I've never seen this movie before, but so far I like it. Fantine is kind of scary, but I really like Valjean and Javert (and the slashy undertones in this film! hehe)

Oh, and HAHA @ 7:13! I think that might be the best WTF face I've ever seen! LOL

  • Why is the sound so weird????...

  • The recording or whatever skips around so much, What gives?

  • les miserables was originally a novel that spawned off a musical a good century after it was published, it was _not_ originally a musical.

  • Les Mis' was originally a Russian novel that was translated to English. There was never any singing in the novel. The musical was based off of the novel, but after a while, they made a movie.

  • Les Misérables by Victor Hugo is a French novel, not Russian. I'm amazed the title didn't tip you off.

And seriously, how COULD there be "singing in the novel?" It's a BOOK!

  • But I thought it was originally a Russian novel that was translated to English? I could be wrong. It doesn't matter that the title was in French. Je sais francais. You don't exactly have to be part of that culture for the book to have a French title.

My point exactly. This person wrote "They ruined it! Where's all the singing?!" When Les Miserables was originally a novel, and not a musical.

  • No, it's not Russian! I don't see how any French person could remotely think that, considering it was written by Victor Hugo, perhaps the most celebrated author in French history.

  • What...? I'm not French. I speak French. Stop being a jerk and get a hold of yourself!

  • I misread what you said as "Je suis francais." Sorry. But the point stands that Les Miserables is unquestionably a French novel--it's practically the national novel of France.

  • It's okay. Sorry for calling you a jerk, but that's what my Dad told me-that it was Russian, so I wasn't sure at first.

  • ok, at 1:30ish, is the guy with the hat sitting in the chair Jean val Jean? Just wondering...

  • where's fantine's past? When Tholomyes left and when she was pretty???

  • @kidtaouk They can't include everything.

  • Why does it skip so much?

  • fantine? She looks beautiful but they made her look miserable. they overdid it.

  • best movie indeed

  • I have this movie! ^^ What I really don't like about it is the person who plays Fantine is...eh...but it's a good movie.

  • whooooa is that fantine...ew. lo0l this movie is great!

  • Yes, please, I'm so excited... OMG Anthony Perkins is such a sweetie. Even when he tries to be cruel.

    Just watch his innocent eyes...

He just wants his con, no more.

And Gollum!Fantine. The unique and only one.

    I think I'll write a Les Mis-LotR crossover.

  • please, i really need part 7 and the rest of the movie. it's a masterpiece!

  • Can you let us know when u have been able to put part seven up. Have never seen the version before, only the one with Liam Neeson in it. This one is very good.

  • I will do it very soon sory for the delay

  • Thanks very much! But you don't have to appologise, i only asked that u comment on here when u have had chance to do it.

  • Why does it skip like that in the beginning?

And why on EARTH do people pronounce their R's at the ends of words (it's French for crying out loud) and have the town called Monteis sur Monteis? *hangs head*

Oh well. This movie is riddled with as many inaccuracies as most others, so . . . heh. Thanks for sharing it. :)

  • sorry for skip. its my technical fault

  • plz upload part 7 please please!!!!!!!!!!

  • I will uplaod other parts very soon. sorry and

    give me a time

  • thanks so much i love this movie!

  • thank you so much for this...i have never seen this movie before & love les miserables
