This is the best ever version,Walt Disney singing, remember when younger ,sat in a dark picture house and this song came on,I used to well up,and it never ceases to make me cry, even though I'm 60 +. now ,its so heart felt,Didnt know it back then, but if your patient then nice things happen to you.

I'm only 11 and I do think this song is great! It doesn't bring back the memories though. I do agree the only good things from Disney these days are pixar and Phineas and Ferb. I do like the classics very much! Of course I hate HSM and Camp Rock...
I believe this song. I was inspired by Disney as a child and still now. Tinkerbell waved her magic wand and magically stars appeared. So much of an impact this had on me when I was little, that when Mom told me her childhood stories of sledding by StarLight, I imagined Tinkerbell leading the way so the snowpath could sparkle with starlight to delight this happy little girl. Where else could the stars come from; certainly anyone could tell from their own backyard that stars don't really exist.
".....if your heart is in your dream....no request is too extreme.....". Every word of this immortal song fills my heart since I was a kid..........Wishes do come true.......
Yea i see the Alice in Wonderland book and right next to it is Peter Pan! Thats so cool! I LOVE classic disney movies! Lion King was the first one i ever watched and I was hooked lol
It's really heartwarming. I still am under the spell of The Walt Disney company's animated classics. Now these days, children like that sickening HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL! UGH!! I hate it when people watch that HSM movie. It makes kids into vain spoiled selfish wannabes who do sick things for people. Classics from Snow White in 1937 to Lion King in 1994 aren't being remembered as much anymore. Thanks goodness for me being a young adult and experiencing Nostalgias!!
youre so right, i mean, im 13 and everywone in off my age like stuff like HSM, I mean, ugh, its so ...... its just bad...
the classics are way better. people should watch these more,
cause, almost all the boy's (at least my brothers and friends) are playing those fighting games, but when i was as old as them (6) i wached Peter Pan, and we played mermaid's and Pirates.... isn't that more fun than wachting tv and playing vid, games all the time??
You said it perfectly. Children by nature are self centered. These idiot shows like American Idol and HS Musical just push that further making most kids today selfish and vain.
Of course it all comes down to parenting. If you're a rotten lazy parent chances are good your kids will be also.
The Disney classics such as Snow White, Pinnochio, Dumbo, Bambi, Cinderella, etc all wonderful movies showing innocence, lessons to be learned, heroism, rewards, etc.
@PopulationTire724 even though this is from 1940. this will be remembered by the people from the good generations, like us. when i will have kids, i will show them the things we had when we were kids.
@PopulationTire724 I know right! But you said until Lion King. ;D I have to admit that I love Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan, too. You can't forget them!
if u look when he is singing by the books the book in the back says Alice in Wonderland because Disney loved to put his other work secretly into his new work :D
wow...I never noticed that book there....but Alice in Wonderland came out in 1951 and Pinocchio was released in 1940 I guess.....so Alice in Wonderland was always in his mind I guess...anyway one of the most powerful songs u'll ever hear !!
I'm amazed Disney leaves the RKO logo intact on their recent releases, given what an ego the company has. You'd think they wouldn't want to remind people that once upon a time, the studio was small enough to need a big-name distributor. (Ironically, RKO no longer exists).
Their first video releases in the '80s just cut them off completely, then in the 90s they had Buena Vista rerelease prints, and then they started this. It's the reverse of their ego just getting bigger during that same time.
i love this classic disney song, it gives me goosebumps everytime i hear and i cry alittle too, its a beautiful songs like the movie is beautiful and moving
English version !! Thanks! I can't believe this song is ranked seventh in the top 100 songs in American cinema and i've been looking for it for about twenty minutes on you tube!
You know, since I've gotten more and more into drawing in the last few years, Disney's old classics have begun to appeal to me even more so than previously. Looking back on it now, Pinocchio has an atmosphere to it that's been repeated by few other animated films afterwards, and When You Wish Upon A Star is part of that aura.

For me it's a toss-up with the original Fantsia. No vocals to compare to this song, but the music is hard to argue with.

I'm betting the RKO logo will be on the Platinum Edition DVD (and Blu-ray Disc) of this film, too, since it WAS on the 2003 UK DVD.
