Well, Jeremy, I could write a thesis/novel/research paper/psychoanalytical research paper here on how deep and emotional and yet quaint and unforgettable this movie is, but it would take forever. Let me just say that I love this movie, I love the soundtrack, and I watch it about every year. (It's okay, we're all scarred)
i really should just subscribe, i keep finding all these classics.
saw it when i was 6, and i kept asking my sister why bowie was dressed like a girl, and i screamed when the anatomical-jugglers did their stuff. now, i think its brilliant. really, her entire quest felt kafkaesque--seriously, nothing went right for her...until the end. (ok, i know this is not on the right page, but what do you think of the official teaser-scene of TMNT? thanks)
Thanks you just helped me with my movie report for h/w, i think the movie was okay maybe some of the effects were not perfect but remember that the movies was shot in 1986 thnks again ;)
OMG!!! I was obsessed with this movie when I was like 3, I used to take my babydoll and throw it up and catch it when David Bowie would throw up the little boy!!!!
My mom introduced me like 8 months ago and i fell IN LOVE WITH IT! The puppets were awesome, the story was awesome, and David Bowie was awesome. If you've never seen it WATCH IT!
laberinth KICKS ASS, u compear this film to modern, samie films, with the same story line "charicter goes in search of something, something bad/weird happens, they find out they had it all along" jennifer connelly in a massive place, teaming up with/fighting weird creatures with spikes on there heads, and fighting david bowies cock, wins EVERY TIME
My cousin's 13 year old son and his friend luckily got to see this gem for the first time in English class last year.... their verdict? ...shit and fake.
I've never wanted to beat a child so much in all my life....... tragic. :(
I saw this movie yesterday, im gonna tell u, so much memories flood my head, hell i didnt even remember HALF of it!, but i enjoyed even puppet moment, cause it was real, see that movie took time to make, now a days movies are done fast, big budget and no lasting appeal, u think people are going to remember movieslike the ones today? hell no, this had horrible costumes but it was sooo bad it was good! to good to even say buy it, just go and hunt this movie down!, timeless!
I started watching it, and then I didn't watch a little, and then I saw the end, and I was like, wow, that's why everyone loves this movie! That's why it stood against the sand of time! The message!
I fucking love this movie and was surprised that you reviewed it because of it's age, so now I'm interested to find out what you thought about The Dark Crystal. Personally I love the movie, but it would be awesome if you reviewed it.
Am I the only person on the face of the earth who really, really hated this movie? This is a Very great review and you do explain why you like it and that's all good. But I watched it as a kid and hated it. And then I figured "You know, everybody loves this movie... I'm gonna rent it and see it for what it is!" and would you know I hated it even more. Once again, GREAT review. I just absolutely hated this movie. Bowie Bulge is priceless (it reminds me of the babe (what babe?)).
Yes as all my fellow geeks and nerds who subscribe to your page I have seen Labyrinth as a kid from the great days of when it was in the theater with my uncle. Very true. I will remember this film until the day I die. Love the film. Have that killer special edition dvd with all the swag in the book size case. Will get the blu-ray once I get a new ps3 since my last one gave me the yellow light of death. Sad. Labyrinth will forever be a great part of my life as a proper nerd who geeks. :)
I think ur gay dood. But on topic, yeah...I've owned the Labyrith since I was a kid. I actually saw it at the movies 3 times or more...I'm a George Lucas fan. Good review, but you act it out way too much.
Also I forgot to say your impressions are amazing. Really, really amazing. Chill Down guys, Ludo, and helping hands were great enough--but you have a dead-on Bowie impression that is just way too good. Sounds exactly like him. :P
Hey man, I love your reviews. You're awesome. I love the comedic timing in them. I stumbled upon them by looking up anything that trashed Twilight (26 year old female, going crazy from trying to understand why everyone and their grandmother likes Twilight). Your New Moon/Eclipse/Vampires Suck reviews made me laugh so hard. Amazing stuff. Keep going. :)
Ah, just for this, I have to subscribe. Labyrinth is my all-time fave movie. Ever. Very good impressions, btw!
Actually, I just lied, because I checked a couple of your other videos before subscribing. Since you seem to be anit-Twilight, pro-True Blood (and bonus that your favorite character is Eric), and pro-Harry Potter, and you're a fan of Labyrinth, you've got to be good people. Cheers!
Just watched this movie for the first time last night. I really loved it. The character's were cool, the effects were obviously really good at the time this was made (1986), and it was just a good movie. I loved the Worm and Ludo :D And don't yell at me for this being my first time watching this movie, I'm only 11 year old people!
i like the ballroom scene from the movie. it is just beautiful and the song is fantastic. the other thing i liked about this movie was the helping hands. they were creepy but very creative, which makes them just awesome. long comment short, Labyrinth = awesome.
DUUUDE!!!!! YES !!!!! the labrynth was fuking amazing. the music was the shyt and the puppets were awesome and the plot was compelling to the point where you were actually scared when the clock was almost out of time and she's climbing around the multi-gravitational stairway. yes yes yes. im subscribed
my mom saw it when she was younger and she recently bought it and showed it to me and my brother. i think the "helping" hands were creepy O.o and wasn't she 14?
I've noticed that lately a lot of animation movies, the newer ones, have been great, The Princess and the Frog, Up, Toy Story 3, Tangled, Rio, when it comes out probably the new Winnie the Pooh (hand drawn as it should be, and hopefully NO stupid 3D) but I do agree, these days a lot of film makers just want to show of their expensive CGI and that's it. Like the new flick Suker Punch. I thought it was goign to be great. It was confusing, distresing and sad. The only good part was the CGI.
I'm 15 I saw it when I 4 and me and my mom watched it again with my step sister who has not seen (shes a beiber fan) so she made fun of all the singing and david bowie and I kinda blasted out and called her a fucking moron yet my mom didnt yell at me!
Dude, I've seen this movie like 20 times, I own it, and it's the source of like 10 family inside jokes. Hoggle pissing in the fountain in the beginning, anyone? Oh yeah. Good shit. David Bowie's defining moments right here, captured on film.
Labyrinth is hands-down my favorite childhood movie. It's one of my favorite to quote. Especially the scene with the old dude with the bird hat....thing. =P
Nostalgia tends to fuzz the lines of reality. Labyrinth is one of those "always great" films. I did not feel the same about TRON. When i saw TRON again for the first time in over 20 years I fell asleep out of boredom.
I've actually never seen the labyrinth. I'm too busy watching bad movies like The Room, Troll 2, Twilight 1-3, Baby Geniuses 1-2, some random Ed Wood Movies, Birdemic, Turkish Star Wars, Kazaam, Pocket Ninjas, Cool as Ice, Batman and Robin, Jim Carrey Sequels without Jim Carrey, Uwe Boll movies and other Video Game adaptations and... I gotta get a life.
David Bowie has like 10 fushigis in the movie. I saw the movie with high expectations and was let down though. I liked the beginning, but then after the caterpillar talks to the hot chick, who is now my mom's age, it starts to suck a lot. It's just puppets and crappy quality things taking place. That is probably just me though because I was born 11 years after this movie came out, so.......................... I didn't like it as much as you did. I still love watching your videos though.
@TheFatty2497 Well, I was born 7 years after it came out, only saw it about a month or so ago, and I absolutely loved it. Mostly because it does show what can be achieved even when you don't have CGI. I like that, it shows creativity and hard work more so than CGI does.
@FlyingFocs This is not a hate comment, but the owl in the beginning of the movie flying through names was computer generated. I was actually amazed by the CG owl because the fact that it was made in 1986 just blows my mind, but Tron was made in 1982 so. If you havent guessed I love seeing how people just a couple decades ago had to got through so much just to do something we can do 20x better and faster today. They set the line for quality to go up and up. I get your point though. got off topic
absolutely loved the movie, especially the mc escher staircase scene with the crystal ball, woah that was awesome, still got this on VHS. Everyone should definitely watch.
I watched it again not too long ago, and made sure to rip out my nostalgia-filter, and well... I guess I shouldn't have done that. The movie annoyed me immensely, to be honest.
You have a good point about modern CGI and heart, but damn, Jim Henson and his muppets were really the CGI of the day back then. And to be honest, they kinda sucked (when they weren't, like, in the Muppet Show...)
I agree with your review. The only thing that I would add is that I personally prefer Puppets to CGI. Although it does not look as real, it feels more real. This allows us to really get into the magic of the experience and feel like we are in another world instead of wondering what face some slimy greedy director is making.
I haven't seen Labyrinth in it's entirety in years. I should own it, yet I don't. I plan to make it an 80's fantasy double feature one day by watching Labyrinth and the Dark Crystal on Netflix. Then later I'll watch the Owls of Ga'Hoole just because it was awesome and it reminded me of a time when fantasy film were great, like Labyrinth!
The more I watch these Jim Henson puppets kids movies now as an adult the more I notice giving my generation Pokemon really emptied our souls. Sure we had DragonBall Z to toughen us up in the next timeslot after every morning but I feel since I was born something has been lost in quality children's entertainment.
That or people at Uni give me shit for not being born in the 80s and I can't take it anymore.
Love the labyrinth, magic dance is an immense song of amazing :P

I've actually never seen the labyrinth. I'm too busy watching bad movies like The Room, Troll 2, Twilight 1-3, Baby Geniuses 1-2, some random Ed Wood Movies, Birdemic, Turkish Star Wars, Kazaam, Pocket Ninjas, Cool as Ice, Batman and Robin, Jim Carrey Sequels without Jim Carrey, Uwe Boll movies and other Video Game adaptations and... I gotta get a life.

I've seen it this movie a few times, and it's probably one of my favorite movies of all time. It's a movie that you can't really ever forget.

This is a movie that I've been wanting to get around to see, but just haven't yet. It does look interesting/entertaining from what I've seen though.

TheFatty2497 10 months ago
@TheFatty2497 Well, I was born 7 years after it came out, only saw it about a month or so ago, and I absolutely loved it. Mostly because it does show what can be achieved even when you don't have CGI. I like that, it shows creativity and hard work more so than CGI does.
FlyingFocs 10 months ago
@FlyingFocs This is not a hate comment, but the owl in the beginning of the movie flying through names was computer generated. I was actually amazed by the CG owl because the fact that it was made in 1986 just blows my mind, but Tron was made in 1982 so. If you havent guessed I love seeing how people just a couple decades ago had to got through so much just to do something we can do 20x better and faster today. They set the line for quality to go up and up. I get your point though. got off topic
TheFatty2497 10 months ago
@TheFatty2497 I get your point, and the CGI owl was cool, too. That really did impress me.

Mmmm... the Bowie Bulge......... he was so hot in that movie.

I disagree with your review for once, Jeremy.
Gnug215 10 months ago
