I love it and I always loved her but the tempo is a bit turgid here getting slower and slower when it should gain in urgency and NO trill... Shame! But certainly the right voice for the role and wonderful singing.

@XPRT10R There is no trill in this first section of the aria....later there are plenty of trills later in the cabaletta.

The second part of the aria wasn't posted because it was not recorded for this project. Only the first part. I have the album. But she's great! I got the album shortly after I saw her in Simon Boccanegra in Atlanta on the Met tour. (When they toured)

Never have I heard it sung better or with such perfection of voice, every note is just sparkling-- a shimmering quality, it is just the perfect soprano and so glad we have her here on you tube.

still trolling the Millo videos in support? of her. I was in the press dept. and was there in London when they added this last to an already long recording. Millo said the cabaletta must be included and they said there wasn't time/she has many pirate tapes of her successful scala debut in the role and the bregenz festival triumph where they commented she was a true verdi dramatic coloratura.

Begining with a nice tempo, then she made it slower and slower like she always does. I LOVE Aprile but this is the only thing I don´t like from her. Sometimes she makes it to the point of making the piece boring. Like for intants, Magdalena in Andrea Chenier. Sorry, but I didn´t like this interpretation.

Again.. I LOVE APRILE but that bores me to tears. Levine is just a very good conductor. He follows the singers. Many of them say that. That he´s the kind of conductor that realises when they need some help, don´t feel well or simply are having problems through the piece and helps them get through.

This is from debut Album for EMI with the fabulous conductor Giuseppe Patane. There was no problem getting thru it, this was the tempo Maestro wanted and that is what he got.

Are you Aprile or Giuseppe Patene?... I guest not. She always drags the tempo. Makes it slower in this and other arias that she sings. I love Aprile and always will but she always does that with whoever conducts.

Patane' is how it is spelled. I disagree with you, and ask that you look at your score of ernani. Than listen to early Milanov, then Price, than mine. Not a lot of difference. Sorry you feel the way you do. Plenty others sing it wrong and too fast, so you have lots of options. Thanks for listening anyway. You return a lot, so it must mean a lot to you.

I know it is Patane... just writing a little fast. Yes, it means a lot because I love Aprile. It really doesn´t matter what she does, I really love her voice and her artistry. I said that because I heard her doing it many times... behind the tempo. Anyway, who cares?. The woman is simply a GORGEOUS SINGER and I miss her a lot. Don´t hear her in a long time. Would like to know how is she doing. Hope she´s still singing. God bless her!!! :)
