Hazel TV Show 1960's 2 60 second previews

During the show's final season, "HAZEL" reused sets from "THE DONNA REED SHOW" and "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" as well [the Stones' and Tony Nelson's living rooms were seen as "empty" homes, waiting to be sold!]. In turn, "JEANNIE" "borrowed" the Baxter's living room for the episode "What House Across the Street?" (12/18/65).

She wore a uniform because it was based on Ted Key's cartoon character that always wore that outfit (for those who wondered)

I could not STAND the character of Hazel! Even as a kid - I would flip the channel when the show was on . . imagine - actually having to get up and switch the channel with that 'thunk' sound:)

I suppose there were maids with odd Brooklyn accents in 1960s US, but IN UNIFORM? Aprt from on TV, show me a maid who wore a uniform or a woman who wore white gloves to go shopping in the 1960s, or 1950s, even...

When the show was filmed in George and Dorothy's house, did you notice that it's the same house that they would use for the show Gidget with Sally Field and Don Porter (who played Russell Lawrence) after Hazel was cancelled?

@Beautifulmusiclistnr They used the houses over and over. The Blondie home was also the home of Father Knows Best, Mr Wilson and Major Tony Nelson .

@Beautifulmusiclistnr Hi, Hazel and Gidget were filmed at Screen Gems, the television division of Columbia Pictures. Next door to Hazel was the Bewitched house (a facade). These were backlot "fake" homes on a "fake" street on the Columbia Ranch which is now owned by Warner Bros.!

@screenjims11 You are correct!! Hazel's house was next door to the Bewitched (i.e. The home of the Stevens) house. I have seen the Bewitched house on the following shows: The Monkeys, Gidget, The Flying Nun, I Dream of Jeannie, The Partridge Family, Hazel and even Home Improvement where it was blown up). I know I've seen it on other shows. I just don't recall witch (get it witch/which) ones? ;) lol  Thanks for sharing the information about those backlot homes!!

@Beautifulmusiclistnr You are very inquisitive! Most people don't notice, remember or care about these things. They think they are filmed in real homes! Can you imagine a film crew in your kitchen?? You couldn't even get in it (using 1960's technology). Thanks for the fun response!! :-)

I've always liked the Stevens' home even if it wasn't a real home. ;) I'm full of useless tv trivia especially when it comes to Bewitched, The Brady Bunch, Gilligan's Island, Charlie's Angels, I Love Lucy, I Dream of Jeannie and a few others. @Beautifulmusiclistnr You're right, I am having a great weekend, hope you are having the same! When bewitched started in 1964, I was 11 years old. I'd read those words below the Bewitched title and decided I was going to find out what the heck "Screen Gems" was, or where! I've since become an expert on television studios, (Perry Mason was filmed using 3 studios over its 10 year run)! Also, the Bewitched house was a real house in CA, but the front was reversed for the studio's version! :-)

@screenjims11 I didn't know that they used 3 different studios for Perry Mason. I remember watching it as a kid, but that was all I knew of it. I thought that the Bewitched house was a real house originally! It would certainly make sense. My weekend has gone fine, and I've been Thankful to God for it! I always liked how the S and the G for Screen Gems would come together. I thought that was creative!

I remember watching this show when I was a kid. I do not remember him as I do not think that was he remember him as the original father. This was a great show back then, no more good show like this any more.

@vividwatch47 I was really heartbroken when I found out that Bobby Buntrock, who played Harold "Sport" Baxter, died in an automobile accident at age 22 in South Dakota. He left us all way, way too soon.

By the way, the girl that played Millie in that clip was Ann Jillian, who starred in the series "It's A Living/Making A Living" and "Jennifer Slept Here", but more importantly, is a breast cancer survivor (she had a double mastectomy) and women's health advocate.

I wasn't too surprised when the series was cancelled after this season. Ray Fulmer and Lynn Borden to me were just watered down versions of Don DeFore and Whitney Blake.
