Notice how certain politicians & media outfits are acting as "training wheels" for this mess called ows. K. Blabberman IS WEALTHY!! The clueless are being made into fools in front of the world by these radicals. This is embarrassing.
John Avalos is an idiot. Thank God he lost the election and will not become mayor of SF. He's done enough to destroy San Francisco with his sanctuary policies, progressive ideology, and socialist dogma. The Mission District is a cesspool.
@jfromthebay i don't know about cesspool, but he's a pie in the sky moron who thinks he can create a utopia. he would never accomplish anything meaningful in the long run. unfortunately we have Ed Lee, who is a glorified custodian who has never done anything for the city but maintain the same level of mediocrity and will continue to do so. part of the same machine that Brown and Newsom were a part of.
@jfromthebay Actualy the Mission district is the most enjoyable part of the ity with it's cultural diversity, cheap eaterys and many cultural events. It also has cirme and poverty, as it has since I first visted it in 1978 (at least). It's fun stuff makes it a hit with hipsters, which leads to gentrification, which is it's number one problem these days.
They are the only big bank that didn't participate in the reckless behavior that lead to this whole mess. When the government gave the bailout money to the banks, Wells Fargo refused to accept the funds because they didn't need it because they didn't do anything wrong. They were eventually forced to accept the bailout money.
Note, before you protest something and disrupt people's work - make sure you're not making yourself look like an idiot.
@XAL NIce misdirection with the bailout framing, but the coalition said it's protesting Wells Fargo's lending and foreclosure practices.
"The march, organizers say, caps a week of protest against the bank as part of a national economic boycott for the lending institution's alleged failure to lend to small businesses, to act to alleviate the foreclosure crisis by modifying loans and for its investment in the private-prison industry."
@XAL Wells Fargo has also been one of the main banks that was found out by the government to have been doing money laundry for Mexican drug cartels. Look it up. Sounds like you should take your own advice dipshit.
@echosixnoble it was Wachovia doing the money laundering many years before being absorbed by wells fargo in 2008. Wachovia continued to do so after, and since then Wells Fargo has been working with the government - handing over records pertaining to the money laundering. dipshit.
Even if he is the real deal, the System will make a mockery of him. The System will not tolerate REAL human beings to do what is right by humanity. This man can't possibly do what we need him to do and what he may even want to do for us and for humanity. Sorry.
@L00kng maybe on a national level the System doesnt allow real human beings, but on a local level (city government, school board, mayors) we CAN make a difference- enough cities like San Francisco CAN divest from Wall Street banks and start their own municipal banks- SF has already raised minimum wage, passed health care for citizens- Chicago passed a law to allow non-citizens to vote in School Board elections. locally, we can make a difference- no need to apologize, have faith and contribute!
@sflpov Yes! North Dakota did it on a state level with their banking laws. California can do the same. YouTube search North Dakota's Economic "Miracle"—It's Not Oil (updated)
John is the real deal -- he is not an opportunist or an egomaniac. He is about movement building, and will fight for the 99% but he cannot do it alone. He needs help -- there are 3 1/2 weeks left and lots of phone to call, house signs to distribute, voters to register etc. Come by the office at Market & Valencia and get involved -- it's a great community of people from all over the city and a lot of fun.
I admire Supervisors John Avalos and Eric Mar for supporting the 99%. A city bank sounds promising-- meanwhile all protesters should close their accounts with the big banks if they haven't already-- and put their money in a good local credit union.
I wish Keith Olbermann would interview some of the occupiers instead of 'experts' like John Nichols and politicians, like John Avalos. Avalos, very rightly, does not claim to speak for Occupy San Francisco. He simply states they have asked him to speak at rallies, but not speak FOR them. He focuses on the municipal bank idea and describes the march to Wells Fargo. Then he speaks about his San Francisco Mayoral run and says he speaks for his supporters, not for Occupy San Francisco.

Why the fuck are protesters blocking Wells Fargo?
