That's really cool. How'd you get all of the particles random sizes? I'm great with blender, but have done so little with the explode modifier.

They are modeled by hand in a few steps and then simulated in BGE.
You can watch my videos for Modeling cracks in Blender,
which explain partially the procedure used in this animation test.
I am considering of removing those videos because there is already a plugin (script) for Blender that can generate cracked pieces of the model.

I didn't used Explode modifier on this, but probably an Edge split modifier could do the job.
