  • It's really strange to think, radio has only been around from the 1920s and we've become a people who think of it as old, while we all use the internet. Things might be changing way too fast.

  • That IS a nice radio. It sounds to be pretty sensitive. I've noticed that there were some really feature packed table radios made in the 40s - 50s that were export models. Philco made some too. Good find and a great job fixing her up.

  • I find it funny that a radio made in the 30's is receiving stations that are advertising Internet sites and CD-ROM discs, the kind of stuff the original engineers who designed the radio would have never dreamed of. As if You needed me to say it, You did wonders on this radio in making it work again! Your right, it's the caps that go south on the older radios about 90% of the time.

I've subscribed to your channel and gave you 5 stars!

  • Thanks for your comments! It is amazing isn't it that even so much as technology has changed over the years, this radio can still pick up stations and the components to repair it are still being made.

  • It sounds wonderful :)

  • Thanks :) It has enough sensitivity that I can really listen to distant skywave stations and enjoy the listening without too much fading out.

  • Nice radio! Too bad there's nothing interesting on.

  • sounds like my philips!

  • Pretty hot receiver--any luck on the SW side?

  • I finally did get the SW working...not sure why it wasn't at first, maybe just needed to break up oxide on the controls. It gets real good SW reception even with a short antenna.

  • It sounds really good in the cabinet too. The AVC enhances its performance nicely.

  • the dial is interesting, I think JVC made a receiver with a similar dile that had different bands
