Though he is a self declared sovereign ruler, he still is bound by scripture as are his laity. Per their Bible, the Latin Vulgate, NT Matthew Ch. 18, V. 6Christ gave this warning, "But he that shall scandalize one of these little ones that believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone should be hanged about his neck, and that he should be drowned in the depth of the sea." Making everyone be celibate is an invitation for deviant sexual conduct to include pedophilia. Humans were made to pro-create.

Actually the pope and his brother covering up pedophilia is MORE disgusting and disturbing. He is in the highest position of the church and should have corrected the situation immediately. This was his "holy" solution ? He is in a position of leadership - whatever he does and teaches flows all the way down the ranks to bishops, archbishops, etc. Once again, a "holy" solution? Not ! - Sweep the problem under the rug and let it continue.

no need for apology... just jail those who abused and those who covered up.. that's what Irish people want.. i remember back in 1979 when the pope visited Ireland and Millions turned out.. if he came now id say a few thousand would show.. we need a complete overhaul in our church.. we need to jail the above.. and allow women into the priesthood.. that's for starters... i cannot go to mass again until there is major change.. i am sure God understands.
