  • One thing that was ALWAYS hoping that would happen. A Punisher animated series, kinda like the Spawn animated series. That would be the SHIT in my opinion.

  • shouldnt they have put the opening scene booklets in a special the dark knight box set?! if you buy a batman begins box set you want batman begins booklets!! i love the dark knight, its my favourite along with inception.

  • @TheNoodle97 This set was released before Dark Knight hit theaters, so it was to promote/tie-in with the new one.

  • nice video i got the dark kinght opening scene comic with the special edition exclusive dvd version i loved the daek knight and batman begins christopher nolan is my favourite director

  • did you ever end up reviewing The Dark Knight? I was looking through your videos and couldn't find it.

  • Not yet, though I did talk about the Blu-ray release in another video (entitled "The Black Knight")

  • I liked the Punisher. My only gripe was that the ending was a bit of an anti-climax. The Travolta baddie didn't do all that much.

  • I actually got the "Begins"-BD too and I feel the same about the box, mine is kind of crushed too.

    It's probably because it's this "gift-set" so it's done a bit "cheap".

The package kind of comes across like you should throw it away.

Apart from that it looks too good to throw away.

And then actually utilize the items inside, put them somewhere else.

    I have a (DVD-)"Giftset" of 'Spider-Man 2' too.

Which is instead actually a thick heavy box, with similar content.

  • And if not, where did you get your copy? I've only gotten my copies from Wal-Mart.

  • We got ours from HMV. I wonder if maybe Walmart just got a bad batch of discs? Or maybe it's an issue with the seamless branching? I know some players don't like that. Our old one was a bit glitchy with seamless branching stuff. Nowadays we play everything in our PS3, as it handles branching titles without a hitch.

  • What's seamless branching and would the Xbox 360 handle it? (I don't have a PS3 yet)

  • In the past I've had some problems with the extended version of The Punisher. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing film, considering how crappy the theatrical version was (just my opinion), but when I bought the extended version, after the first time I saw it, my DVD player wouldn't recognize it. I've traded in the film for another copy on multiple occasions with no luck. It's not the DVD player either, I've switch players with the same disc and still nothing. Does this happen to anyone else?

  • Hehehe...I haven't watched his review, perhaps I should! I can see how some people might feel that way, though. It IS quite a departure in tone and feel to any previous adaptation. I think both of the new ones have their good and bad points. they're not definitive adaptations, but I certainly think they're well made and entertaining films.

  • I personally like this one more then War Zone. Here is why.

With the Punisher, yes they did take away how his family died but the added a new better version. His whole family was gone, mother, father, everyone. His portrayal of Punisher was dead on. The way he acted was great as well. In the Punisher he did not act like...a man that just had a gun, he had a purpose. In the new Punisher, he acts like the poster boy of the NRA.

The fighting sequences were more realistic then the second movie.

  • Thomas Jane never read the PUNISHER: WAR ZONE script.

    It's a reboot.

  • He left the project over "creative differences." According to a number of sources, he read the first script. After he left, a new script was written and the direction of the project was changed.

Too bad they decided to do it as a reboot. The Tom Jane one was superb, and deserved a sequel.

  • That's fine. Personally, I feel that Punisher: War Zone is the superior, true-to-the source material Punisher film.

Ray Stevenson is Castle lifted directly from the panel of Punisher MAX IMO.

  • Haven't seen it yet, so I can't comment at this point. I've heard mixed reviews, but that it IS quite accurate to the current comics. I'll likely grab it on Blu-ray when it comes out.

  • i like the box of BB it reminds of the vhs big boxes

  • Hi Sean glad to see you have get more stuff on your collection. I wanted to thank you for your new format showing every detail of the dvd its really cool! thanks again

    Daniel

  • Thanks! I had a lot of requests to show the CONTENTS of my DVDs, especially the collector's editions, so I thought this way I can more easily show what's in each one.

  • I LOVED the Extended Cut of the Punisher. It added a whole nother sub plot. Great stuff! I need to watch it again

  • Sweet! I'll definitely be watching it some time this week, can't wait!

  • That's some dreadful packaging on the Batman Begins Blue Ray disc.

  • It is indeed, I don't know what they were thinking with that one. All the other Warner Collector's Editions I have are excellent in terms of packaging.

  • reading the comments below, I wanna throw my 3 cents in. I loves my bluray, love it. Am watching on a 32" Toshiba Regza, 1080i.Bluray picture is so clear, and bright, and the sound is insanely good. The PS3 video upscale(r) is very good also, what that does is cleans up the pic and sound on your old DVD's. Downside to Bluray is the cost, I paid 39$+tax for "The day after tommorow", thats a bit crazy for a movie made almost 5 years ago. Whats your thoughts ??

  • That's odd, because everywhere I go a new movie on BluRay is seldom more than 25-32 dollars (unless it's a deluxe edition). First off, you're going to be paying a bit more than DVD anyway, since you're getting it in HD. That makes perfect sense to me - you pay a premium for better quality. But the other thing is, it's still relatively NEW. The format war only ended in February, but already we're seeing it dropping in price more every month. It will be priced like DVD before long.

  • For example - the James Bond steelbook editions we got we only 26 bucks each. We bought A Clockwork Orange for 16 dollars and Reservoir Dogs for 13 dollars. That's VERY close to DVD pricing. People need to stop whining about the price. New releases on DVD are usually around 30 dollars as well, there really isn't a big difference. I'll happily pay 5 bucks more for the BluRay version for the extras quality, PROVIDED the DVD extras are present in full. That's my ONE issue with certain titles.

  • good update so far, I also Highly recommened Starship troopers on Blu Ray

  • It's on my must-buy list. Not a HUGE priority at the moment, though, since I've had the Special 2-disc DVD edition for a while.

  • you need to have The day after tomorrow for your Bluray collection, it's INSANELY good!

  • Im getting Dark Knight for Xmas on DVD, I haven't upgraded to Blu Ray yet

  • Be sure to pick it up on hi def once you get your Blu-ray player to see those stunning IMAX scenes!!

  • Ha ha, that's so funny - all that stuff about the first scene of Dark Knight. I would have understood if they had put it in the Dark Knight BR, but to me it does not make too much sense on the Batman Begins gift set.

  • Great vid but both those movies sucked the big one in my opinion. The Dark Knight was awesome and I guess Begins is all right, but Christian Bale is terrible as Batman. His dark voice is ridiculous! He almost looked like a sidekick in the new one because he was so boring!

  • Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

  • I've been a fan since 1987 and I don't recall the scarecrow ever being a dude with just an ugly bag on his head. They totally messed up the background and all the vehicles too.

The way Batman talks is unrealistic. It hurts much when you talk like that, so why does he do it? To sound cooool? Hahaha.

And if you compare the fight scenes to such movies as Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, they are very poorly executed.

But yeah, it's just my opinion! I know a whole lot of people like the new era!

  • Well, to be fair Christopher Nolan's take on it seems to be to present it in a more realistic way, as if to say "What if all these characters actually existed, how would that work?"

So no, not every detail is going to be 100% faithful to the comic in that regard, since it can't be within the context of that premise.

Therefore the fight scenes WON'T be like Crouching Tiger, since Crouching Tiger is completely unrealistic. They do it more like a street fight, which is more believable.

  • I think the basic idea was the "comic booky" Batman has been done to death (in particular the Shumacher films), and the series was DESPERATELY in need of a reboot. So the idea was to bring it back down to earth and delve more deeply into the psychology of the characters. Plus to just take it seriously again.

I thought Scarecrow was quite accurate, actually. Probably the most straightforward translation of one of the villain characters so far. And I've been a fan since the late 70's.

  • Yeah, I know, but come on now. A realistic film about a Batman? Someone fighting crime wearing a rubber bat suit? In my opinion, that's not very realistic at all! :P

About CTHD, they shouldn't have that kind of fighthing in Batman, but the camerawork and feel to it is fenomenal! I couldn't see what the hell was going on in Begins!

Thanks for your response btw! I really do appreciate all your videos and that you take time to answer so many comments!

  • Well, you might say the same thing about ANY comic book movie then. If anything, Batman is MORE plausible BECAUSE it's just a guy in a suit. Batman is something that could conceivably exist, even without all the gadgets and whatnot. Seriously, I don't think you're looking past the surface. There is actually a considerable amount of depth to the character (and the other characters in the stories).

And yes, CTHD is absolutely beautiful. One I really need to see again, actually!

  • And you're quite welcome. I like to chat with my viewers, rather than just sitting up there on my blog pedestal and shouting at the moon. :)

  • i hate bluray only thing i find differnt abotu that and dvd picture is brighter and holds more space soudn is the same for me no change

  • Compare the two on a large screen, the difference is actually quite apparent between them.

  • I'm geitting Dark Knight blu ray for xmas :)

  • Sweet! Not sure when exactly we'll be grabbing it, but SOON for sure! :)

  • Mine Batman Begins Bluray limited gift set edition opens at the top. You just take the "batman signal" up and then you have your movie and other stuff.

And I have my movie out from the box so I dont damages the box even more than the first time I opened it.

  • Seriously, it's like you wouldn't even want to watch it for fear of having to deal with that horrible packaging design! I got the POTC box set and it's just easy peasy slip out, not sure why Warner Brothers can't do what even the now off-kilter DISNEY can do. Lol, I love that it's totally hyping up The Dark Knight though -- At the same time I thought all those extras were really awesome, I couldn't help but think..."JESUS....it's Batman: The Commencement, not THE DARK KNIGHT PART 1!"

  • Lol! Why do I have the feeling that from now on we will always refer to this movie as "Batman: The Commencement." :D Warner Brothers is usually pretty good with their deluxe packaging, but this time they kinda cheaped out.

Disney's been really on the ball with their BluRays since the moment go. They just LOVE the format, and it really shows with the effort they put into their editions of stuff.

  • That's not a bad idea, I might do the same.

  • Great part 2. I'm not surprised that Thomas Jane didnt return for the second movie. I mean they totally went left field with the second movie. None of the original cast is in the movie. I'll be sure to pick up the extended edition of the punisher just because you recommend it. thanks zaranyzerak

  • Yeah, there was a store (one really close to where I live) that was illegally selling the Dark Knight about a week early. They had to take the movie off their shelves due to Warner Bros finding out about it. If I wasn't pre-ordering the movie, I would've picked it up when it was there.

  • Yeah, I think there were a few places doing that. Naughty people! Oh well, I'll get it when the dust settles a bit. :)

  • It's funny how mych they hyped that one scene from the Dark Knight, because what you'll find out if/when you see it is that the robbery scene is the tip of the iceberg. It only gets better from there.

  • I know, it's nuts how much "Dark Knight - Scene 1" related swag there is in that set. I was hoping for more about, oh I dunno, BATMAN BEGINS, maybe??? But all the extras are just carried over from the original DVD deluxe set (and I'm not complaining about that, at least Warner seems on the ball with this stuff as far as transferring ALL the extras over - just would have been nice to have a new tidbit or two).

  • hav u seen the new punisher movie?

  • Nope. Could have sworn I mentioned that in the video...

  • i said that b4 i seen ur vid.cant wait for part 3!
