  • 2 euro on steam:D:D:D:D

  • Great review of one of my favourite games.

  • the bundle pack with shadow bound on steam is on sale (practicly giving it away) 85% off

  • kinda reminds me of a plat former version of gauntlet

  • If you're interested in this game, and feeling particularly good willed.. Google and check out the humble bundle, which contains this and 2 other games, plus 1 pre-order.

It's all done for charity, you pay what you want, and decide how much of your money will go to the developers and different foundations respectively :)

  • @MagicAccent I doubt anyone will see this video (or your comment) between now and the time the bundle expires!

  • @antisocialfatman

Maybe. But hopefully people will keep an eye out for future bundles. Maybe!

  • Trine is not completely perfect, but it's pretty much the good old stuff being made today. It is a perfect example of how you make something small, fun, and never boring from when you start to finish. Then you drop the game and after a long while eventually come back. ;]

  • I generally tended to use the wizard a lot, stacking boxes and planks usually got me past any and all environment puzzles. The thief was was the heavy damage dealer with her upgraded 3 arrow shots and the knight just a blocker for the fireballs and the occasional melee fighter in tight spots.

But other than that, I completely agree with the review, very well done :)

  • with respect, your statement that the thief would be used most often and the wizard is mostly useless at the start and the thief makes the knight mostly useless is a matter of opinion. The wizard is still incredibly useful with the ability to conjure boxes and stick them on spikes to make platforms, or stack them to reach higher ledges, etc. and the knight gains the storm hammer making him MUCH more powerful than the thief at close range, plus he has the defensive advantage of the shield.

  • *Sniff* I beat it in about 3 days because I got stuck!

  • cheers man, your review was spot on 5 stars :)

  • I very much enjoyed the part where he reviews Trine. That is certainly my most favorite part.

  • The characters are unique? they're cliche and ridiculous. My only gripe is the spawning of enemies constantly, after 5 minutes of killing enemies I'd rather just figure out how to get past a certain platform, etc.

  • @alrdd They're unique in the sense that they play differently to each other, not in the sense that they are original.

I don't see why they're ridiculous, though. They're nothing special, but they're no worse than 99% of all other game characters.

  • @alrdd i think everyone is entitiled to their own opinion, and you're right in the aspect that they are cliche, but i think the devolopers wanted to throw in the cliche'd/contrasting personalities because they reflect how the character is played. Extremely well narration tho

  • @NaOsification, if you're going to call someone an idiot, you might first want to learn how to spell. It does a lot for credibility.

You also probably want to read the sidebar and realise that I'm reviewing the PC version. What the PS3 version does and doesn't have isn't relevant.

  • Best review I've ever read on this game. Good job!

  • i want this game

  • Good review but it was too long and goes into too much detail. But the game looks interesting I'll look it up.

  • that's the point of a review

  • how long is the full game

  • longer than this review...(joking) um apparently 7 hours

  • When you get the floating triangle with wood. It is totally easy! I loved the game! Love platform games and fable like games so this was right up my friggin alley! :)

  • this is real coool

  • so far i have found that u can go throught the hole game useing the same person

    if u are carfull

regardless of the level or puzzle

  • maybe, but some are likely easier than others

  • game is awesom because it can be easily downloaded....:D love all caracters

  • this was a pretty good game with my only

down side is the price, 30 bucks is alittle much for only 4 to 6 hours but i play worse 60 games that were so bad

  • that last level, the tower race is damn near impossible.

  • this game is awesome! i just love it. 4.9/5 (there are some flaws every game has them)

  • A thief, a wizard, and a knight walk into a forbidden temple of treasure...... yeah still working on that joke.

  • PSN release delayed, Now TBA :(

  • Thief ftw, shes so cute and awesome, other 2 characters are just lame comparing to her. If not the must of using sometimes the boxes of wizard or smashing ability of warrior (when u dont have fire arrows yet) i think id finish this game using only her.

  • I cant wait for this to hit PSN.

  • Stupid tower race, that ruined the game for me.

  • ps3 date? tripe or urine are just one letter off. lol

  • 2...

  • August 20th

  • where did u hear that?

  • from the publisher, Nobilis.

  • Awesome game, tho way to short :(

  • lol a new review omigi!

  • Nice review. I think those repetitive enemies would probably bother me most of all, but it sounds like a really good game aside from that.

I hadn't realized all three characters were consolidated into one being that "morphs." I thought it would be like LV where all 3 are present on the level at the same time and you switch between them and use their abilities in tandem (e.g., the guy with the shield could be used as a jumping block for the others by putting his shield over his head).

  • I bought it off Steam and finished it today. You pretty much summed up everything I was thinking about. I wish it was longer though. By the way, how do you let the Thief jump onto the same platform she's swinging on?! I've tried doing that numerous times with no avail! I'll start the game again to master the damn thing.

And great review fatman. Oh, you also forgot to mention the Lizard-like boss (not that it further increases the types of enemies you'll encounter much).

  • It is nice to see you back! I have indeed missed your reviews. As others have said, I do not always agree with you (though I often do) but I do always find your tastes similar to my own and your views thoughtful.

From the first few seconds of gameplay shown in this review, I knew "That's it, I am buying this game and losing the rest of my day to it."

  • Yay! A new fatman review. I have to say, you probably are the best video-game reviewer on Youtube, save the professionals -- although I certainly put you over IGN at this point.

And you're *definitely* better than other non-pro reviewers on YouTube. I'm not going to name names, though. *cough* Whitty *cough*

  • So true, it makes me laugh how on his intro he claims to be "The best reviewer on the net".

  • Just bought it via Steam. It better be good!

  • Great review, mate. The game is brilliant, cant stop playing it.

  • it's good to know that you're doing reviews again. You are undoubtedly the best reviewer on YouTube. And I'm not just saying that to be a suck-up. You really are great.

    New reviews every monday? Nice.

Anyways, good review, as always. May have to check it out.

  • Great review, very detailed. I also like how you've ditched the out of five rating system. Numbers are meaningless anyway.

  • Yeah, I am actually rating out of 5 still, I've just started using the words that those numbers represent, so my scoring system hasn't changed at all, really.

Awful/Bad/Average/Good/Excellent is just 1/2/3/4/5, but hopefully it's a little more comprehensive this way.

  • Well even that will mean more to most people than just a number.

  • Nice Harryhausen reference ;)

Did you ever play Lost Vikings 2? I'm very anxious to know if it measures up to the original. Alas, there are no youtube reviews for it.

  • It's so long since I've played either of those games I really couldn't tell you.

  • good to see your back

  • @krispycrunk what was on his back? Or is it just a particularly pretty one?

  • @Nontypicalness you're a funny guy

  • I missed your voice.

Also, I belive this is the first time you've talked about a game that I had no previous knowledge of.

  • Yay! He is back! :D

Does this means you will be uploading videos regularly now?

  • Unless my PC explodes or my internet connection is cut off or I die of a suidden but totally expected heart attack, I will indeed be releasing new videos regularly from now on.

    Check back every Monday!

  • Great, I missed your videos! Gamespot and IGN video reviews suck, and gametrailers does a better job, but still I prefer yours by far. Even though I don't always agree with you, every video of yours is a joy to watch.

What will you be reviewing next, there aren't much great games released in this time of year. How about about HL2 and its episodes? I love those games, and was waiting for your review of them back then when you said you are gonna review every HL game, before your gpu died.

  • I *hope* Tales of Monkey Island Episode One will be next week's review, but the weeks after will definitely be HL2 and its expansions. If I can't get ToMI, HL2 will be next week's review.

A few games I intend to review after that are The Settlers 2, Condemned, Penumbra Overture and Assault on Dark athena.

  • Nice! :)

Also, in my opinion, even though Penumbra overture was a really intelligent psychological horror game, the second part, black plague, was MUCH MUCH better. You should absolutely check it out if you liked overture, or are simply a fan of psychological horror.

  • Going to review the original Settlers 2, or the Settlers 2: Tenth Anniversary Edition?

  • Great review as always fatman. I cannot wait for a steam sale on this game, unfortunatly 30$ is too expensive for me. :(

  • what about braid

  • Braid is really a puzzle game dressed up as a platformer.

  • not long enough either.

  • i used mostly the wizard to cross large gaps or get to impossible to reach high platforms (instead of using the thief). i enjoyed building bridges and 'stairs' to navigate the map. i think that was the most enjoyable part of the game. i mostly used the thief for combat and the knight for experimenting (like to see if i can jump a gap without having to create a bridge).

    anyway, great review, as always.

  • I think your overstating the death of 2D Platformers. Granted, there aren't many but with masterpieces like New Super Mario Bros, Mega Man 9 and Littlebigplanet having been released recently there's still life in the genre. But regardless Trine looks quite good. Taking into account the upcoming releases of Shadow Complex and Splosion Man I think that the new downloadable game market could lead to a renaissance for the the genre.

  • You're right about all of those games, but I reviewed the game as a PC game. I'm not really going to consider what the PS3 or DS has.

  • Ah, should have thought of that. In that case, yeah, your right. But as I said before, Steam and similar services will hopefully lead to a reemergence in this and other genres which the platform hasn't seen for years (I for one am pumped for Tales of Monkey Island).

  • Omg! I have totally missed this game! :D

    Must buy... now!

  • You're a natural, man.

    I really enjoy your reviews.

  • great review

  • your back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yes

  • I knew you would play/review this Game xD

  • I think I'm gonna buy this game after watching this :P

  • Nice
