13MB/s 4KB random read @QD 1 is actually bad for being an SSD. All current SATA SSDs have around 20-23MB/s. The 4KB random write (@QD1) however is pretty nice compared to many SSDs, but it's still a lot slower than Intels SATA solutions. The issue i have with your caching system is data integrity of the cached data if the unit is disconnected during or right after a transfer. Do you have a supercap or caps + mini BBU?
I also have a request for CrystalDiskMark 3.0 with 4KB random QD32.

I just tested one of our fastest SSD drives and got 16/12. 14/16.6 for a drive that fits in my pocket is pretty darn good. Rule #1 for data transfers has got to be "don't uplug while transfering" :) Good heads up on the new version of DiskMark, I will look for it.

One indilinx barefoot drive can read 60MB/s with 4KB random blocks at queue depth 4 or higher. Intel x25-M can do up to 160MB/s of 4KB random read, and does about 120MB/s at queue depth 10-12. Both devices can do 20MB/s+ at 4KB random read queue depth 1.
My first generation Mtron Pro SSDs that were released to market in 2007 can do 40MB/s 4KB random read at queue depth 1.
I will salute you for this device though, hopefully it will drive down prices of the fastest USB-sticks.

Nice to see - but how about Linux? Is there anything special or will these USB3 - RAIDs run under any kernel 2.6.31 - distro and upwards.
I would really love to see the start of Karmic Koala on such a stick ..

Linux does not have a host side stack for USB 3.0 yet. Either does Apple.
Karmic Koala looks nice but it will not currently boot with these speeds. The USB 3.0 driver is not applied until the OS loads. We need to wait for BIOS manufactures to enable a USB 3.0 boot.
For now, try Ceedo as a portable OS that runs on top of Windows. It is incredibly fast on this drive.

This benchmark shows the maximum sequential read and write as well as 512K random reads and writes and 4k reads and writes. In general it shows the whole story. Any way you slice it, this IS the fastest USB product out - and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The bar has been set, and the bar is pretty high.

That is the max read and write, right?
Some other benchmarking programs even show the avarage.
