some consider this the world's ugliest rallycross car and when Herbert Breiteneder totalled it without hurting himself, they didnt even shed a tear in Ingolstadt. Which, in case you didn't know, is where all that Audi Technik first got all of its Vorsprung. But in this case its not so much Vorsprung Durch Technik but, Unsprung Durch Technik.

Why do people complain about this somewhat tidy roll? It's not like the car was destroyed. Some new fibreglass/carbonfibre and she'll be as good as new. The chassi and body itself is intact. Even the wheels are all pointing in the same direction. No biggie. :)

Die Rennhistorie von diesen Autos wurde recht ausführlich veröffentlicht, zudem kenne ich noch ein paar ehemalige Audi Sport Mitarbeiter die man fragen könnt und falls ein Auto mal verkauft wird sprichts sich auch ziemlich schnell im Netz herum, dann gibts noch ein paar sehr informative Webseiten und da ja eh nur 20 Stück gebaut wurden ist das alles sehr gut überschaubar

offitcock clearly states that the 6r4 was non turbo charged. This is correct, but the 6r4 in the film is will gallop in his twin turbo 6r4, so your name is appropriate.

The 6R4 was in the way of the Quattro: as has been said many times above, only 20 S1s were made, the 6R4 looks like a 200-off car built to comply with homologation rules. It's like comparing a Stradivari violin with a £50.00 factory job...

Yeah, but still. This car is an icon, at least in Europe. Only 20 of 'em were ever built by Audi for rallying. The Peugeot 205 T16 had better handling and a more sophistcated 4WD system, but it can never reach the iconic status of the Audi Quattro Sport.

That it isnt original Rallye cars of Audi racing. For motorcross they dont use these cars. So dont worry ;)

Yes they used the original cars after they were banned from the rally. At that time, no one really understood what value (money and memory and sentimental) they would have in the future. At the end of the 80's to the 90's a few of the 20 or so s1 originally made were driven all over Europe in rallycross, and also here in sweden. Where did you get the idea that real cars weren't used? At race of champions, old S1 that has seen both rallycross and hillclimbing were used a few years ago =)

Yeah it breaks my heart whenever I see one these precious cars crash. It's the greatest car ever ever and extremly expensive. Quattro no. 20 was on the market a month or so ago and demanded a price of 1 million euro.

The white-red S1 was the old rallycar of Walter Röhrl. In this clip the S1 was driven by Herbert Breiteneder on Mandes circuit Belgium (Ingelmunster). The motorsport is called Rallycross, most spectacular motorsport.

The Audi is driven in this clip by Herbert Breiteneder who sadly died last week in an Austrian Rally. I saw him racing in rallycross a few times in the Audi S1, very spectacular flamboyant driver. RIP Herbie.
