One of the main inspirations of metal gear you could say. The voice actors even said how much James Bond it felt. Why else do you think MGS1, 3 and 4 have tuxedoes as outfits? :) And there is a conversation with Major Zero, and you find out he's a major bond fan.

I honestly think this is the best metal gear. The one thing that messes it up is the pacing of the game. The intro is great, the first hour is great then is just alot of running and gunning until the last 2 hours which make this game amazing!The torture scene, the chase, the boss fight, the sex, the distrust of the presidentetc. the last 2 hours are crazy.

How is it James Bond related? Why is it so bad being a james bond rip off? i mean, the metal gear series have -always- been a rip off from american action movies. :P

Only that the metal gear solid series is basiclly american action movies mixed heavly with typical animeish stuffs. This MGS is heavly inspired by james bond, live with it, kojima comes up with his own original ideas by "ripping off" other movies etc. :P or well, change "rip off" to "very heavly inspired" so i dont have to lisen to your whining.

It's not a "rip-off". The credits are a homage to the 007 intro credits. Snake Plissken = Solid Snake.

I'm not the biggest Hideo Kojima fan but I do credit him for combining all of those influences and synthesizing and filtering them to get the Metal Gear Series.

Considering the timeframe of the game's storyline, and the fact that Kojima's a movie fanatic, it was so completely fitting to have this song open up the game.
