The Caledonia was a fun ship; it can be difficult being a cadet on ships where your one of a few, or even the only Brit, but it does prepare you for a being a strong officer anywhere. Now I drive 90,000gt cruise liners worldwide; easy life :)

:) i was on cec caledonia last year august/september! was pretty weird seeing everything agian. Atleast you got the cadet cabin lol i got the pilot cabin upstairs lol! great times i have a few videos of fishing in suez bay that i might put up.

nice video mate, i start my cadetship in september with clyde marine as a engineer officer, really excited about it. looks great banter. what other nationalaties did you meet whilst on board? and where did you dock?

Look at all this footage mate.There is only the Master who is British,the rest are Filipino.The downfall of the British Merchant Navy was(and still is)shipowners employing cheaper labour.Make sure you get with a good outfit(BP//Shell)because as sure as eggs are eggs you will be a gonner once your cadetship is finished.

I speak from 1st hand experience.

nice vid...i came from cec confidence as cadet then in cec cardiff as os,cec hunter as ab back again in cec cardiff as ab then my final year as a third officer in cec courage..back in 2005...i miss them to paul who broke his leg finger when we where in algeria hehehe i have some pic of that...to all GSM boys ,... I'm a Deep Sea Deck Officer and do think the Filipinos are some of the funniest people to work alongside. They have some humor that is not typical of the human race! lol.
