his work was a little rough but he was going for numbers. His head joints can't be full enough for my liking on a job but we can all learn that less movement and strict repatition to mortar skills can make good bricklayers great.(Journeyman Mason for 10 years, contractor for eight)

I was never that neat but was i fast! never once went down the road muttering :)
Ralph got beaten by that Aussie bloke who used a shovel to lay the beds on 131/2 inch work,Ralph used only his 19-11 but was just slightly out of plumb at the end.

all due respect, this is a fitness competition and not a bricklaying competition i have read the rules on the specmix website and read it has to be work worthy? My governer would put his boot through that if he saw it. Im not knocking but bricklaying is a craft, a well respected trade not about a couple of hyperactive men throwing muck on walls. I have worked with yanks before and trust me there is nothing they could teach a proper british trowel, best in the world british bricklayers.

Very fast bricklayers. However, speed isn't everything. Quality is more of a concern on the job. Now, if they have a competition for the fastest AND most accurate bricklayer, that would mean something.

his work was a little rough but he was going for numbers. His head joints can't be full enough for my liking on a job but we can all learn that less movement and strict repatition to mortar skills can make good bricklayers great.(Journeyman Mason for 10 years, contractor for eight)

I broke the world record in 1976 by laying 6429 bricks (all to a line) in 7.5 hrs.This is in the guiness book of records for that year.Unfortuneatly a guy called Jack Bloxhan stacked 8000 in 6.5 hrs and unknown to the guiness book of records this could have been achieved by anyone.The both record where taken out of the book and a new set of rules for the following few years happend.

@sugarraysharpe I was trained as were many others late 70,s early 80,s in southern England by a British guy called Ralph (cant remember his surname) who won the Marshaltown comp a few times with 750 in an hour.
I was never that neat but was i fast! never once went down the road muttering :)
Ralph got beaten by that Aussie bloke who used a shovel to lay the beds on 131/2 inch work,Ralph used only his 19-11 but was just slightly out of plumb at the end.
See if Marshaltown still run a comp.

all due respect, this is a fitness competition and not a bricklaying competition i have read the rules on the specmix website and read it has to be work worthy? My governer would put his boot through that if he saw it. Im not knocking but bricklaying is a craft, a well respected trade not about a couple of hyperactive men throwing muck on walls. I have worked with yanks before and trust me there is nothing they could teach a proper british trowel, best in the world british bricklayers.
