The song has been sped up just a fraction of a second to where it is playing too fast to get all the possible enjoyment out of each and every note played. It should be rerecorded for playing on YouTube. Leslie didn't play it that fast. He let each and every rise and fall of each wave be sensed, as though you were actually there. This version has always been my number one favorite song, though the other versions were close, they seemed to lack just a little bit of the emotional love within.
This is the version I heard the first time I had heard mountain and managed to record this off the radio station WVBF one night on my real to real player...never thought I'd hear it again as i long since lost all the tapes..fantastic version the best i have experienced............thanks for posting it.
by far the best version i had nantucet but when i got the live album and heard this version, i had to fire one up buy flouresent paint , blacklights, and painted my bedroom with this album cover ! one one the best experiences ever!
Met Leslie west backstage before he played Orlando in 83. asked him "what ever happened to Felix Pappaladi" He said " I don't know what happened to that guy"
A month later Felix got shot.
If he only knew what lay ahead, I'm sure he would have kept up with him better.
The bass player he had was a joke compared to Felix.
This is Nantucket Sleighride the way I first heard it off the album The Road Goes Ever On. It was 17 miuntes and about 40 seconds long and it kicked ass!! Rest In Peace Felix Pappalardi!!

All the bass players West has played with, except Bruce, pale in comparison to Felix.
The man was truly one of a kind on bass guitar. This version is by far the best and the jamming is excellent. This is Mountain at it's very best.
