  • The reason they don't attack alcohol is because alcohol has a bigger and more powerful lobby and there is also the fact you can't develop lung disease secondhand from someone else drinking. Alcohol is bad in excess but it does not hurt anyone if you use self control and moderation. There are also certain health benefits from certain types of alcohol. The same cannot be said for cigarettes.

  • I wish I could afford to buy Winstons. They're good cigarettes. Since I started this hideous habit in the early 70s, cigarette prices went from 35 cents a pack to about $7.00 a pack. That's a 2100% increase. Of course half of that increase is in UNFAIR cigarette taxes. It's unfair because alcohol is just as BAD (or worse) yet you never hear politicians crying out "LET'S STICK IT TO THE BEER DRINKERS!" like they do for smokers. It's an acceptable conspiracy.

  • @ldchappell1 That's funny, because in California, every time one of those cigarette tax propositions come up, all the smokers that I know vote for it, because they want a reason to quit!

  • This is awesome haha

  • Glad I saw this commercial. I just realized I need to run to the convenience store up the road for cigs. I'm out.

  • now this is real but for fowl lingo areas with bleep sound its just a illusion idea like canid camera done yearsago ideas wilds.org ps no ofeense tpo anyone

  • LOL Fred's face at 0:36

  • Not going to like but the way Barney and Fred advertises the product, it makes me want a Winston.

  • woah hell i didn't know anything about all those cartoons being intended for adults!! that' definitely something interesting and worth a second thought..

  • lolo i didnt think they had ciggarettes or matches in the stone age... hell didnt they JUST discover fire?

  • It's funny, Fred and Barney says I hate to see the girls working so hard, let's go to the back so we don't see them. Ha, too funny!

  • wth

  • WIN

  • thats CRAZY!!! 14!

  • Just destorted my childhood heros lol.

  • God, I could go for a cigarette. And since when did the Flintstones have lighters.

  • this is so wrong

  • wtf

  • flinstones had it right

  • Hahaha, i love how that ad goes on before the actual Flintstones, watched by kids! :)

  • Actually, the original Flintstones was an adult show in prime time, much like the Simpsons, which both adults and kids enjoy. I was born in 1957 and I remember watching the show, but the cigarette ad went right over my head. Everyone smoked then, anyway - and indoors!

  • Ah, i see! :)

  • Exactly to the point--smoking had a remaining innocence yet..but it was soon gone--

  • Actully, I think every cartoon at that time was made for adults.

  • Well, not Yogi Bear! But all the Warners cartoons on TV were originally for adults.

  • @ddimuro All of the Warner's Brother's cartoons were Movie theater shorts, shown between the feature movies..

They were never intended for kids.

  • @K4foxru1 Yes, I know that. That has nothing to do with this commercial, which was shown on commercial TV. I actually saw the original broadcasts of The Flinstones, when it was a prime time show very much like the Simpsons. When Wilma got pregnant with Pebbles, it was a very big deal.

  • AHHHH!!!! NO FRED NO BARNEY!!!!! LOL

  • This is prior to Pebbles being born. Once that happened, they switched sponsors to Welch's.

  • I'm picturing all of Bedrock with COPD and bronchogenic carcinoma right now. Probably also mesothelioma, given that Fred used to work at a quarry. Silicosis also, come to think of it...

  • holy defecate! dont know there were cigarettes in the stoneage! i'll buy myself a prehistoric winston and display it at a museum!

  • I've never known about this until now. Weird...a cartoon promoting smoking.

  • remember! Everyone smoked backed then and The Flintstones were adult television at this time.

  • most people did, whats with these fucking absolute statements... bah!

  • OH GOD NO, THERE PUSHING NICOTINE

  • Ahhhhh......... The good old days before everyone was bitching about second hand smoke. Love it

  • he he, i am gonna smoke winston (soft) now:) i am impressed:)

  • A reminder of the time when cigarettes were sold on TV and were considered safe. It seems like that was another century. Oh yeah, technically it was. Nevermind.

  • jajaja!!! soo fucking fun!!!

  • Holy cow. I think we owe Joe Camel an apology. Yikes!

  • SongbirdSong:

You said it, pal. Marketing to kids? Naw... No, we promise this is aimed at adults! (*rolls eyes*...right, and I'm Fred Flinstone)

  • Actually, the Flintstones was considered an adult show.

  • JOE BARBERA R.I.P.

  • It's Fred FlintSTONED!

  • When I first saw this on the Internet Archive I almost tripped! It turns out that the sponsorship of Winston was dropped after Pebbles was born.

  • shore makes me wanna light up

  • You forget The Flintstones were on in Prime Time!

  • this kind of thing doesn't fly these days.

  • icejalow:

I'd report you for spam, but then they'd ren=move your post, and I think it's funnier to leave it up so that people can laugh at you! hahaha...

ALT+F4 CLOSES PROGRAMS, YOU MORON...As I'm sure you (no doubt) know by now! And yes, idiot, that's a chain letter. You've been punked and now the whole world can see it.
